Hermit Crabs

Nomads, crabs aspire

Forsaken shells for tasking.

Seas' wanderers rest.

   To all the nomads I've ever known,
   The ones who moved from place to place.
   Forever seeking people, places, things,
   That they have always sought to know.

   You've added to my life,
   Sometimes resonance,
   Sometimes strife,
   As you

Tomorrow’s going to find me in another place
I never had the urge to settle down
There’s so much of this world that I’ve never seen
Another mountain, another valley, another town
I get those urges every time I hear a train whistle blow
Or the sound of a ship pulling out to sea
Staying put is killing me and I’ve

The Nomad

Just a stranger in a strange land

A thousand miles of desert sand

With only the stars to guide me

And a thirst for life inside me

The moon eclipsed the desert air

Then from my lips a silent prayer

Enlightenment I do beseech

The precipice that I might reach

No boundaries that I can see

This desert wind has set me free

A wanderer

Song of the Desert

Nomad fought for a fabled gap in the skies, adrift.
Seeking solace in the unknown, a soul to uplift
The sun casts an even brighter sphere in the air.
Guiding the wanderer with a gentle flare.
Ravens fly into the void, tearing sadness apart.
Their wings, a symbol of hope, ignited the heart.

He carries his life inside a backpack;
 Tumbleweed rolling off beaten track.

My soul longs for a place I can't remember. I never feel like I'm home. One life to the next, wandering aimlessly...searching. Wanting to go home. Hoping it will be soon. Waiting for the events that mark the day to transpire.

The gifts just out of reach…Always?
Scoping the search?  
With the contentments 
Of peace to be found, 	
Buried like treasure…And
Hunted?

Beloved nomad
Seeking place
Among the ridges
Of the lost caves your eagles 
Scan horizons 
To discover, while watching 
    constantly over you —
Traveling with your long stretch
Of discontented camels,
Snorting and

It’s Old news to girlfriends 
And former wives
I’ve been flying solo
All of my life

It wasn’t just them
I hadn’t stayed with
There were many a friend
And old acquaintance

Didn’t realize then
As I do today
I’m a nomad at heart
Who’ll stray over stay

I also know now
It’s freedom I need
Free to move on
Free to be free

I’m happy this way
It’s simple
You see
I’m

They say, home is where the heart is.
But, what of those who carry their heart,
Never to leave it behind?
Nomads forever are they.

                Solitude, is what you trust in most.
                 Have you no warmth for mankind

A wanderer travelling in the abyss
Saffron blinding the mist

Blue covering the mighty 
A tender wave decluttering the mosaic of rainbow

A deep dive into the green
Pondring into the white 

Before black took over the spotlight

Reflection On An Aging Nomad

I finally finished retiring four years ago,
a process that started in my mid-fifties
due to late adopting kids with special needs,
including needs for me to be home
to personally walk them on,
harness them in,
and wheel them back off, their diverse buses
and robotic ramped vans.

During those final weeks of quasi-gainful employment
I amped up my search for a new
