nitrogen hypoxia

they sit him down, strap the arms,
not the old chair, not the rope—
this is cleaner, scientific,
no blood, no sparks,
just the mask.

the lungs beg first,
pulling at nothing,
a vacuum of sky
swallowing itself.

the heart beats like a busted drum,
then quieter,
the eyes go wet, then far—
a man drowning on land
without water, without storm.

the state calls it mercy.
but death is still death,
as the body visibly shows us.

Premium Member spring

Romans 8:37 _ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].

spring rains, thunderstorms
water, nitrogen come to earth....
three ripe tomatoes

food for the body
food for the soul....
sustain and grow

Premium Member The Fierce Storm

thunder rumbles
               constantly
                    off in a distance
                          even more thunder

thunder
     gets closer
          intensified
                  howling tempest

lightning flashes
      thunderclaps
              clap again
                   house shakes upon its foundation

gust's speed picks up
          constant lightning flashes
               bringing nitrogen to earth
i feel it turning plants green

wind chimes dance
        jingle
             play their tunes
                   independently

in the mist of the bluster
        God's presence is real
                  i know He's here

in this chinook
    i know my Protector lives
            He cares
                 He's real

my humanness still is afraid
        each shake
                each flash
                       each intense billow scares

His presence keeps me
      from falling apart
            running scared
                  or panicking

Hydrogen and Nitrogen

Hydrogen and Nitrogen

If you give a
measuring tape a
whiff of
an of no
colour powerful-smelling gas containing hydrogen and nitrogen he’ll
lay out all the
best facts that can be useful in
arguments about the
important role ducks play in
the flora and
fauna. Note: to
increase the quantity of
oxygen in
the blood and
make strong the lungs and
heart share with
anyone anything
previously specified.

Nitrogen

Nitrogen

Nitrogen thinks, believes, that
oxygen is a
liar.

Angry Alice

Anger becomes a drug
Becomes a fix
An addiction
Anger is easy to eat
Slides down your throat
Melts on your tongue like butter
Sits in your stomach like glass
Anger is cold
Like ice
Or like liquid nitrogen
Looks cold until it burns
Anger is hard to fight
Easy to hit
Hard to bruise
Anger is a friend of mine
A best friend if you will
Nothing stands between me and my anger
I buy her clothes and dress her pretty
I feed her crooked smiles and rubber bands
I let her lay in my bed
And go to my parties
And sometimes, I let her talk to my mother
And sometimes, I let her talk to me
And I let her live her life
Like any good person would
Or bad person would
I have a friend
Her name is Malice
Like Alice;
But Angry.

Premium Member DECIDUOUS

Leaves leave deciduous trees in the Fall.
     continue shedding at its earliest.
      Festival on completion of harvest.
Azure sky ready for Autumn to call.
Maple , apple, cherry, pear, oak as seen
to conserve water at Winter - crisis.
      needed by them for photosynthesis.
shedding leaves at end of growing season

     Diffuse-porous wood anatomy owned,
these trees using proteins stored in roots.
and inner bark from last year's foliage
as nitrogen source for new leaves be grown.
Nascent leaves are retrieved by getting boost.
    Deciduous trees have normal storage.

Premium Member Tomatoes

I kill for tomatoes

if only they were satisfied
with some~ the fat, green
caterpillars --

Weeds seem always to thrive --
like children somehow in the
gutter – soil of the street
never needs tilling, or nitrogen
added, handily replenishes its own
filth and acrid scent --

Occasionally one ripe
with good seed is spared
both plate and gutter

then to be crucified

Premium Member Infestation of Critters

Nearly thirty inches below normal of rain this year
It's caused an infestation of critters who lurk near
Droning on and on, annoyingly buzzing in my ear
Waiting for the chance to stick me with their spear

With needle sharp weapons, like the point of a pen
Round and round my head they fly, again and again
I need hands to swat at them... the size of Big Ben
or maybe freeze them with liquid nitrogen or cryogen

Oh, bad mosquitoes! What a big proboscis they possess
Despite their intent, they've failed to cause me stress
Such wicked bites will never leave me a bloody mess
When they've fallen at my feet, I'll just say, "God bless."

I don't live in fear of them because it's all a charade,
the army of bloodsuckers, who seem to be on a crusade
to defy peace in every home, they've chosen to invade
So, it's time to zap the pesky insects with a can of Raid

Premium Member Preservationist

Preserve it for history.
Restore it the way it should be.
Ecosystems must be protected well.
Store microorganisms in a liquid nitrogen cell.
Every item catalogued.
Replanting to replace what’s logged.
Various fossils preserved completely.
Apple sauce preserves quite sweetly.
Tyrannosaurus bones preserved.
Incas artifacts - museum pride of place deserved.
Oil spills must be corrected.
Neptune’s kingdom must be protected.
Instinct to preserve with care.
Sustain rain forests everywhere.
Treat nature well, make sure it lives- for the beauty it gives.

Premium Member Kudzu

Decades ago, a severe drought took its toll
And many parts of the U.S. became a dust bowl
To control the erosion of the soil
The Kudzu plant was introduced amid the turmoil

It grows at a rate of a foot per day
Smothering other plants in its way
In all directions it will go
With no indication it will ever slow

It cycles nitrogen through the soil at a high rate
Doubling nitric oxide emissions with no sign it will abate
Though a plant that was once in need
In the 1970's it was demoted to a weed!
                               ---

Premium Member The Gang of Six

In nature's design, six is the key to all life alive.
Hexagons in petals, snowflakes, and beehives thrive,
In music, blues and roots groups play the six-stringed guitar.
With songs made with a hexatonic blue note, added to each bar.
Six key chemical elements there when life first sprang
Were the notorious Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Sulfur, Phosphorus gang.

Bullets

You know how f**ked up it was,
You're words we're like bullets from a gun.
Man made bullets, you filled with liquid nitrogen.
You shot me with each word.
(SHUT UP I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANT)
You emptied your clip out, caving in my chest and
here I was thinking that you cared.

The crackling sounds echoed loud,
I held in my pain, too shocked to say a word.
Watching your face, know emotion did it display.
Eyes turning a darker shade of black,
From all the hatred you wasn't holding back.

Inspired by a breakup. 2023

Substance

Chemical can be detected in urine and serum using gas chromatography nitrogen phosphorus detection(GC-NPD) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry techniques(GC/MS).Poison is detected in food and environmental samples through capillary electrophoresis(MEKCS) with UV-detection after solid phase extraction. The Sonnenschein test consists in the electron-transfer oxidation of substance, via cerium mediated radical reactions.Besides,
this test produces a violet colour more stable than that obtained with
potassium dichromate which is the recommended assay for identification
of this drug. Most poisons can be detected in your blood or urine.

Premium Member Conceit

I have power; this war I will win; Putin thought,
Hydrogen and nitrogen bombs war crews threw;
Ukrainian troops too like classic heroes fought,
Grief, fear, and rage within the hearts of people brew;
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, help from nations sought,
Some shammed to show concern; in truth, away they flew;
We're superpowers, the Russians float in pride,
It's then the Ukrainians took them for a ride...!

NATO battle tricks the Ukrainians did adopt,
Vengeance from Russians with vigilance they blew;
With bombs, within Russians, hatred topped,
Within Ukrainians, lo, patient calmness grew;
When Putin thought the Ukrainian heads are cropped,
From resilience, Ukrainians, their strength drew,
Thousands of powerful tanks the Russians lost,
Conceit crossed, tossed and frost, finally did exhaust...!!!
