Julius Caesar hastened a decline in liberty
Roman rights abridged, from a partial democracy.
A leader can come in, and single handed attack
The freedoms people had, not easy to get back.
Germany was a democracy under Weimar
Then Hitler came in, they followed his star
Mussolini dismantled freedoms Italy had
Democracy is easy to lose, and that's sad.
Nicaragua was a democracy, then voted in Ortega
He said no more voting until we reach the planet Vega.
Venezuela voted in a populist red:
Now people shiver when secret police tread.
Turkey was free until Erdogan moved.
He jailed journalists, judges too.
It is like roach motel, no doubt.
You can check in to dictatorship, but you can't check out.
Some leaders won just enough of the vote
Some took a while to don the dictator coat.
But freedom is apparently not immune
to a strong leader sweeping it off with a broom.
Churchill was on Democracy's side
But said it's the worst system except for all that were tried.
We have trillions in debt, as far as the eye can see
And immigrants who don't all accept liberty.
So there's pressure to enter Roach Motel
Can we avoid it? Too early to tell.
The rotting of a socialist
I knew of a young man, a rebel who wanted
his country to adopt the Scandinavian model of socialism.
He was elected to great acclaim by the people,
he wanted taxes to rise, especially among
the wealthy and upper middle classes, they rebelled
by slurring him in the newspapers, lurid tales about sex orgies
and a luxury living, people turned against him
not re-elected
After some years’ people found he was not
a bad egg
and he was elected as president again.
Now he was a changed man, didn`t care less about the Left
or the right, he just wanted to be president in his self-belief
gave tax relief to the rich, prices went up, and people
protested they wanted him to go.
He refuses to do so many people are killed
he doesn`t care
turned from a good man into a bloody dictator
who will keep his power at whatever cost and has to
be removed by whatever means.
Viva Nicaragua.
Jeff’s dull life began to glow,
His Jeff’s weight to around throw,
Great winds telling when to blow;
Tap asking to again flow…
Wasted years in Canada
And USA’s Nevada,
Though, there, had driven Prada
And chance had to love Sandra…
He’d wanted to try Norway
And Mum fought it with “No way?”
You’d better in Warm zones stay
And profit from Sunny Day…
Some years in Nicaragua
And he could just buy Jaguar,
Learn that water is Agua,
And the Human Tongue Lengua,
Where upon he chose Glasgow
And his mum with smiles said “Go!”

Five years ago, on New Year's Eve,
I resolved to love forever,
Weeks later, the mailman came,
My draft notice arrived.
Four years ago, on New Year's Eve,
I wished to be discharged,
A month later, my "prayer" was answered
I was shipped to Nicaragua.
Two years ago, on New Year's Eve,
Fighting the flu, down in the trenches,
I wanted Mom to make me some chocolate chip cookies,
Instead, I received a different care package,
A funny green egg.
Last year, on New year's Eve,
Admiring my one and only leg,
Serenity and peace is what I yearned,
Obtaining this was simple,
But, I didn't want it eternally.
This year, on New Year's Eve,
There's nothing much I can do,
Oh, yes, this must be made clear,
No more New Year's resolutions for me.

Tales of sacrificed fear
on scared tortured terrain
wild strengths smoldering beneath
tantrums of the fractious.
Gateway opens, rocks vault, liquids spew
fires burn and soil creep
Vented anger, terrifyingly unleashed
scarped lands and chard boulders
tinged bushes, strewn trees
flowed hard blackened beds
Gateway to Hell, Masaya volcano, Nicaragua.
Laborer and oxen are drawn
to slumber and to toil.
trodden fields of dawn
through basalt seeded soil.
A consistent daily chore
broken and blistered skin
farming out of folklore
the spirit from within.
An iron age passes by,
ploughed by tools of wood
Faces etched, livelihood.
(The traditional farmers of Nicaragua)
Parted by the cobbled stones
colonial brick patterned high,
baby boomer's and fragile bones
strolling under a watchful eye.
The dizziness continues to bustle
joined by beggars and thieves,
marveling at the persistent hustle
as the sun is setting to leave.
Cultures meet on the la Calzada
feet tapping to the drumming beat
scouring down an enchilada
escaping and lounging off their feet.
Shadows form and dimly lit,
pestered by hand carved craft,
horses chomping on their bit
slightest breeze provides a welcoming draft.
Soaring temperatures start to subside,
as people continue to stare,
the small procession of a blushing bride
her hopes for a future, laid bare.
(A Friday night under a cresent moon on La Calzada, Granada, Nicaragua)
Existence of this ageless tomb
another sense given to invoke.
Resurrected from a socialist womb
with a success left to provoke.
Two firey breasted beasts will greet,
few miles across a frontier.
Cloud capped and complete
a glowing moment of fear.
This was a 'land of the not quite right'
and its claws had a strenghtening grip.
The genius of Dario's write
offers us only a shorten clip.
Isolated by forces within
or controlled by powers from out.
The feel in your heart is akin
to a home, that, I have no doubt.
A step back to where we know
yet two steps forward to what we don't.
Where yawning smiles are a flow
and abundant treasures mount.
Future turmoil continues rife
harden hands tells its story.
It's people adapt to their strife,
returning it to a former glory.
Fire remains in the blood:
the music, the dance akin-
nor presume or nor you should,
the passion that lies within.

Rebel/ i consider myself out the ordinary level
sound silly?/ its just the way my words tend to treble
im the beggining/ you the end
im coming forward/ all dressed in red
revolution/ not an evolution
soldiers in motion/ whats the commotion?
i fight for my right/ liberty for my people
you treat me unequal/ i show you our feature
strong and bold/ can be reasonable but also cold
soldiers down to fight/ but also want to make it right
i was born in a country of war/ Nicaragua is what i mourn
raised in this beautiful country i now call home/ united states, is where i have my home
here im free/ but im calling out racist wanabee friendlys
i dont see color/ i wanna see humanity getting friendly
black, white, and brown/ together turning frowns upside down
evil grins/ making them turn right around
so lets unite and make our own world/ revolution is just an expression
we can use it for good/ or bad impressions
Danny has a mobile
Car wash business,
Saves some money
From paying a rent.
Born in Nicaragua
A believer,
We
Talked about God
While his crew
Speedily washed
My 2006 Scion xA.
Discussing humility,
Danny told a story about a Lady
He knew who died and came
Back to life.
She saw the light
At the end of the Tunnel.
An Archangel
Greeted her and explained
We are all Angels originally
Sent from Heaven to earth
With a mission.
Memories of our heavenly existence
Erased to perform without slack.
At the end,
Danny charged
18 bucks for wash my car…
…That was his mission.
I’m an alien
From a poor country
A refugee in a rich country
From a far away third world country
Where corruption as cancer is spread every where
And people starve of hunger.
Within frontiers at El Salvador,
Nicaragua, Guatemala.
Refugees like me come and go
Through the frontiers to Mexico, USA, Europe.
There is a great difference in the world
Between rich and poor countries
Holland is a European rich country
The older you get the most isolated discriminated you feel.
As in Honduras in Holland there is unemployment.
Families are unable to fulfill their basic needs for their kids.
You can protest it won’t help!
There’s Unemployment, drug addiction
As cancer poverty spread everywhere in the veins of third world countries.
People are searching in the garbage.
Can you explain me this difference?
Does it make any sense?
