Susie Q’s Nightmare

As the world unfurls
iN REMbrandt's muddy pastel
Little Susie curls her knees
right on cue, credence that
there's clear water here, a
revival of Hawkins and
Burton's swamp spell

When I tried to leave her
dream, she called back:
'Freddy, come save me'
I know that it's cruel to
replace her, though her
night terrors are negotiated,
I awaken her fears

THAT NIGHT

"My eyes were never shut that night,
As I pulled my soul in the concept of Magnetic field,
I looked through the reality of poets,
It can be anyone- an engineer, an artist 
or a man with a broken heart,
since hearts are meant to broke
so a soul can join them
in pieces again,
Though Love and Sorrow."

The radicalism of a black main character

She always wondered how it would be
If she, a black girl starred in a romantic comedy
Where she wouldn't just be used as comic relief 
And she would be desired by the male lead

She dreamed of being comforted
And not play a strong black girl where she wouldn't be punished for being seen as 'weak'
She could be

In horror films black people die first
We always make smart decisions 
And yet they still manage to find a way to erase us even in film
They don't leave us alone 
Not in life 
Not in death
Not even in fiction 
They do this to show

You can escape reality just for a little while
Leaving your problems for a moment to smile
You lose yourself watching in many hours of bliss
Feeling the movie so much that you can feel that kiss 
Scenes of situations that you've known to have 
Having tears in your eyes and still manage to laugh
Movies are another world

I've loved them all
each and every one
the long and slinky ones
the short and racy ones
the bold and colourful
the dark and moody ones
the funny and even silly ones
I've loved them all without regret

he’d twist the ordinary into a dance
of danger lurking, unseen yet near
the thrill of the unknown, the taste of fear

1940 Detective Movies

in the 1940 detective movies
leading men were called gumshoes
women were referred to as molls, dames, chicks or dolls.
it was acceptable for the men to swat a woman’s bottom.
She giggled and acted like she enjoyed it.
it was so normal some of us little ones did not know how wrong it was.

Sheetal and the Dung Beetle

This rhyme may seem strange but each word's truly equal
Now Beetle's tale's done no need for a sequel.
They'd chat by the teazel of matters so lethal
Of sequels and prequels and justice so penal.

In fields green and fetal past signs with a decal
He'd meet Sheetal the Beadle who spoke of things fecal.
