Mollie Bag

Zippers and Velcro and snaps and straps
nylon loops are found everywhere
pockets there are of every size
pockets in pockets can be found

flags of black hang upside down
holding meanings that are not found
over shoulders diagonally hung
made to fit over either one

covered with tools of every kind
stuck in loops and on Velcro hung
swinging on straps as they walk
ringing softly with tinkling sounds

Mollie
Politicized
In an attempt to gain
Advantage by high-jacking grief *
A glaring betrayal of compassion
Cheap predation on emotions
Let justice take its course
And rest in peace

Mollie

Mollie's gone and lost her brolly,
left it on the bloomin' trolley,
what to do now she's fried,
Mollie's fit to be tied,
unprotected, without any lolly!

NOTE: for a dear friend!
          'lolly' Br. slang for money.

My mother, a simple life, a simple face
Old before her time, overworked and burdened
Living a life she never complained about,
Lightening our load while bearing hers
Innocent, free of envy, malice or regrets
Every year, her rose blooms again in spring

note: for some reason I cannot bold the first letters..sorry

Mollie Dreams of Being a Princess

Mollie Dreams of Being a Princess

By Elton Camp

Mollie found a tiara at a yard sale
Her dream of wealth likely will fail

Her family is neither lazy nor mean
Their modest home is neat and clean

With parents at minimum wage employed
A middle-class living cannot be enjoyed

They hope one day their ship will come in
But realistically can’t see just how or when

But Mollie looks off into the growing night
And imagines a future prosperous and bright

Chance of fulfillment is really quite dim
It lies somewhere between none and slim

For now, she wears the little crown on her head
For it is by hope and faith that her soul is fed

Years from now, her dream will be shattered
May she learn that hope was all that mattered

...to the one, the only

Mollie's gone and lost her brolly,
left it on the bloomin' trolley,
what to do now, she's tried,
she is fit to be tied,
unprotected, without any lolly!

just in case... brolly=umbrella, lolly=money!

The smiling face that looks out at me
from that funny old picture frame-
Can no longer hold me in her arms
or call me by my given name

Always a part of my daily life
it sits right there on the shelf-
Sometimes when I look at her
it seems I'm looking at myself

Beloved mother gone to soon
forever you are my Mollie Rose-
Waiting there for me to join you
where the river of life forever flows

For the Picture Frame contest...
I have an old picture of my mother
Mollie, taken when she was about 16.
I am her clone...lol

Goodbye Mollie

You starred in Are you being served in the past.
You were part of a very talented cast.
It was funny when you wore those silly colored wigs.
When you decided to be an actress, you made it big.
You and two other cast members died in just two years time.
The three of you passing away is sad and it feels like a crime.
The world becama a worse place on the day that you perished.
You are gone forever but you will always be cherished.

(DEDICATED TO MOLLIE SUGDEN WHO DIED JULY 1, 2009.)
