down on the floor
hands and feet would lift me ~
i was a plane
blew up balloons
she made me animals ~
i was dazzled
taught me stitches
loved skilled embroidery ~
i was craft sown
drew paper dolls
sketched with clothes to cut out ~
i was prized fun
read tales aloud
fueled my fantasies ~
i was book hooked
spent time with me
shared skills and joys with me ~
mama loved me
My sweetness, from you, my first meal,
Exclusively for six.
And for many more months after~
The grub that made me tick.
You'd go hungry for me to eat.
Still my tum begs for more
What yours for days has been denied,
For hunger there to roar.
Empty tummy twirls blank your eyes,
Then you fall down and faint.
Still you rise just to find me food,
Your hunger no restraint.
More I grow, so your sacrifice.
You forsake your pleasure~
For me to have a great future.
To you, I'm your treasure.
Why Mama becomes my best word~
On my lips, just your praise.
I care not what anyone thinks.
In my heart, your love stays.
Your face now wrinkled by old age,
More, to me, you're pretty.
Tell me Mama how to pay back,
I'll pay to show pity.
You used to hold me
Kiss my cheeks
Love me without any hate
Feed me sliced grapes
I don’t remember those days
I find memories I buried
Locked up to keep
My love for you
How do I bury them again
Mama tell me please
How do I forget the hate you have for me
As you throw a vase
Screaming away
I will never feel the same
You used to wash my hair
And tell me what to wear
You used to take me
To the playground
I want to remember only these days
How do I remember only these days
Mama
Mama please
Kiss my cheeks again
Soothe me to sleep
I’m still your baby
Please love me
I’m still your baby
Love me like you used to
Throw the hate away
Let me sleep in your bed
Just for the night
Mama please
Please
The incubator of my life
Who shines more than the twinkling stars and blazing moon
In the Africa twilight;
And glitters more than precious gold's and diamond's of Africa
I see you!
Mama,
Whose dimples, from where I scoop animation;
Are deeper than the sweet well of Gerar;
The seasoned yellow corn that fills the mouth
I see you!
Shine shine Mama,
My reliable and relentless life support
On whose impenetrable wings I sailed securely in my youth,
Regardless of the distance, traversing life
I see you!
Mama,
Whose unquenching love encompasses all;
The non defaulting mechanism of my locomotive,
Wiser than oracle's of Africa;
I see you!
Mama,
Whose heart is larger than Olumo Rock;
Hands taller and larger than sacred idanre hills;
Who traverses and watches over Africa like a Colossus
Mama of all mothers,
I greet you!
*MAMA I REMEMBER THEM THOSE DAYS-
Mama, I remember the those days;
When you and grandma prayed;
We stayed in a church, them days;
Mama, I remember when we’d dance and sing;
Those this was be the joys, I’m now reminiscing;
And O’ what a time;
Seasons came around;
You in the kitchen;
Makin them pies, my, my, my
Mama, I remember them those days;
Mama, I remember them those days;
you teaching me my ABC's
you showing me what I need;
you holdin and huggin me;
you reprimanding, scolding me;
And O’ what a time;
Seasons came around;
You in the kitchen;
Makin them cakes and pies, my, my, my
Mama, I remember them those days;

The auction began and I could feel my pulse patter,
If I don't get this house, my heart it may shatter.
I got my ducks in a row, when I saw the sale poster,
It's been a ride to get here, a real rollercoaster.
You see, the house was my Mama's, but she got in a rut,
The bank foreclosed, on the mortgage contract.
They kicked her out, it was such a calamity.
She was ashamed and embarrassed, questioning her sanity.
The sale day is here, and there is a huge crowd.
I must be the winner, for crying out loud.
The bids were swift, and the sale price kept rising,
I kept raising my paddle, I'd lost track of the pricing.
My hopes began to plummet, but the auctioneer said Sold,
He called my number, my bid had been bold.
I yelled "I won!" and I caught my Mama's eye.
She would have her home back, I knew that she would cry.
Today was a day that I will never forget,
Mama got her house back, and I have no regret.
My dear Mama, oh so dear,
A mother true, always near.
From childhood's dawn till present day,
You guided us, showed the way.
With "Sugar Boy" by your side,
Together you led, with love and pride.
To "Oko Eti-ose" and "Oko Okuku" farms,
We trekked, with loaded arms.
The roads were long, the loads were heavy,
I cried, but you helped me be brave.
Coming home, with weary feet,
You soothed my tears, made our hearts meet.
With meager pay, as teacher true,
You and "Sugar Boy" saw us through.
Education's doors, you opened wide,
Degrees acquired, our futures inside.
In pain, you helped; in need, you gave,
Ensuring food, a roof to save.
Your partnership, a shining light,
Taught me teamwork, day and night.
You and Papa, a perfect pair,
United, selfless, beyond compare.
No difference, in love and care,
You both showed us, how to share.
May your days be long and bright,
Filled with joy, love's warm light.
We recognize, your sacrifices grand,
Thank you, dear Mama, hand in hand.
Mama Africa; beauty is oneness
So much love she have got to share, pure she's just like gold
Her glowing black skin so unique and alluring;
Attracting, healing, elevating,inspiring and vibrant
She don't wanna be save don't save her
She don't wanna be save because she's the savior herself
Saving and nurturing all she loves without hollering
The awakened one brimming with energy to awaken more
Dark in complexion pure in consciousness, light giver
Mighty and powerful whoever she touches, change is attained
She's fearless and he-artful, showering love and care
Blesses whoever cross her path, generous deeds all she does
The walk she walks, shows her confidence, cat walk
Walking like a tigress She is, speaks life into the lifeless
Her wrath; enlightenment not punishment, without hesitating
Yelling the greatest inequality is trying to make
What is not equal to be equal, She revisionist
Revising every causes, breaking all chains
Pure and meek; All hail her holiness as she...
Wrestling all evil until the demons pants no more
Leaving every devil breathless.

Can you hear me, can you hear me Mama
I’d say when I was four
I “played” my toy piano
And she’d say, play some more!
Can you hear me, can you hear me Mama
At sixteen, I did say
She smiled as she applauded
My song for high school play
Can you hear, can you hear me Mama
I called from overseas
It’s not the best connection
She cried, just come home please
Can you hear, can you hear me Mama
Although she can’t, I sigh
I’ll always need for her to know
Her baby boy’s close by
As Mother's Day approaches, my heart is filled of love!

Dear, Ify, I with a heavy heart,
Join to mourn Ma Caroline's tender depart.
Her love, a warm sun, now dimmed from our sight,
Leaving a void, a profound, aching night.
Tears may cascade, a sorrowful stream,
Grief's heavy cloak, a suffocating dream.
But hold onto laughter, the moments you both shared,
A love everlasting, beautifully bared.
Like sunrise, memories gently will bloom,
A warmth in your heart, dispelling the gloom.
Her strength, a compass, forever your guide,
A mother's love, forever by your side.
May time be your solace and a balm for your pain,
As healing unfolds like a gentle spring rain.
We, as friends and poets are ever near,
To comfort your spirit, which to us is so dear.
For Mama Caroline, may peaceful rest be found,
Her love a sweet echo on heavenly ground.
May gentle breezes whisper through the trees,
A lullaby of love for eternity's enduring peace.

Tucking in her baby, Miss Furball gave his head a gentle kiss.
His eyes slowly closed, and his meow mouth gave a tiny hiss.
She liked sending him to dreamland in the best mama way.
Insuring he will be in a terrific mood the very next day.
She sees through me,
She holds my hand across the tempestuous sea,
She understands my plight,
And can comprehend my fight.
Her words are like an armour,
She’s an ageless glamour,
At dawn, she rises to her task.
She can see what’s behind the mask.
She beckons on hope in dark days,
And understands some of life’s mysterious ways,
She finds a way out of the woods,
And is not subservient to gloomy moods.
She has a deep love for nature,
And made me understand its infinite stature.
Oh, I know someday she’ll be gone,
And I’ll be forlorn.

Marvelous mama moo from Kalamazoo
Puts on her lipstick and a bit of rouge too
Trying to get the attention of Bad Bill the Bull
He rolls his eyes, cannot believe she is after him still
They used to date when they were both in the barn.
He thought he could flirt with her without any harm.
But she took it too hard and she thinks they should be in love
He in no way thinks of her in the ways of candy, hearts or turtle doves.
You should never had been nice to her says the sheep and the pig.
She has had a super crush on you, and we mean really big.
Bad Bill rolled his eyes, he could not believe that after sixty years
This made up make up mama was still after his jokes and jeers.
When I look in the mirror,
Your face comes in clearer.
I always see you looking back at me,
Of all your children, I look most like thee.
I am so sorry for being stupidly pissed.
Because of this, much has been missed.
My actions had nothing to do with the past.
I forgave you when you asked.
I look back with dread,
About things I shouldn't have said.
I broke your heart in two,
When I turned my back on you.
A mother's love is unceasing,
And what I did left you grieving.
We are all broken in some way,
Please take to heart what I say,
I am hoping to restore what I so carelessly tore.
And maybe you will love me once more.
I am so very sorry for breaking your heart.
