The setting sun urged holiday makers
To roam around the Venice canals.
A thousand and one lamps helped
The gondoliers to find their way
As he sang a lovely love song
And pleased the lovers as they sat
On comfy cushions on the boat
Occasionally stealing a kind kiss.
Stare at the twinkling beautiful stars
Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes,
List and learn, ye dainty roses
We're called the gondoliers
And this is our song of love.
Venice knew what love meant,
Even when they traverse the bridge of sighs.
They wondered how many crossed
To their doom. But that was ages ago.
Now the bridge was decorated with lamps.
Oh, what a beautiful sight it was.
Solitary gulls lead all to Piazza San Marco.
The lovers looked in awe at the tourists.
They paid the gondolier handsomely
And descended on to the vast square.
They found a table and ordered
An espresso and a tasty pizza.
It was expensive but worth it.

MIDNIGHT IN VELVET
In blue midnight she wore deep purple velvet, a crown of thorns in silk,
To meet her love where moonlight cut the dark like broken glass.
Love whispered in the ocean of fear, a tide that pulled and broke,
Two shadows danced while the night held its breath, alas.
Soulmates split by a black hole of sorrow, stars swallowed whole,
Tears fell like rain on velvet, drowning every silent vow.
A single shoe left lost behind, a fit that cruel time stole,
Before we turned to golden ashes, we sang our last song now.

Even before we met
There was the promise of you
An energy and intention
The Universe
Conspired to make you mine
Fate and Destiny
Serendipity entwined
The Angels knew
Walking beside our hearts
Showed our souls
We could never be apart
Throughout the eons
Throughout our lifetimes
We met again and again
Getting our story right
This is the one
Where it all goes right for us

Among the smiles and glances that I see
from people looking back at me,
why is it the memory of your face
seems so easily to replace
every vision and sight
of radiant morning
and sacred night?
Among all memories and every song,
that haunt my spirit all night long
and fill the spreading evening sky,
enough to make the angels cry,
why do I find my self walking through
the days and nights I spent with you?
Among the dreams so passing fair
that come and go through winter air
how is it that since summer strong
you still remain most constant song?
Among the many lights that moved
through days of sunlight, skies of star,
every perfect moment that we loved,
nothing ever came so close nor from so far,
nor ever so gracefully drew
the waiting world
as deep as you.
You have become
eternity:
the measureless shore
of my undiscovered
country.
