A Cliched Theme In Rhyme

They told you and promised your breath will expire
Your soul will go missing like the crackling fire.
They told you -- they advised -- to accept it and live
Use up the time that your creator did give.

And you know all this time that your song will be cut
That the orchestra plays on but the players do not
You know all of this will turn to dust and to ash
And your face'll be preserved by a camera and a flash.

You get taller and dumber, living for Tomorrow
Waiting for your stomach to stop feeling so hollow.
You forget for a while that there's a grave in the future,
Waiting for you to be buried in as closure.

People die all around you and you think, "Oh.
That won't happen to me for a long time, no.
I am immortal, with an age in mind
It's a ripe old age that you can't just unwind."

And I understand since your hands aren't pale
That you haven't even worn the wedding dress and veil.
That it's silly to think of your funeral and legacy
When all you can think about are the formal dresses and dead chivalry.

Living forever is not for eternity.
It's the thought that you'll live up to ninety.
It's the rush in your blood when you're young and unafraid
It's the thrum of your legs when you stomp like a parade

It's the drumming in your chest when the best band starts
It's the springing in your veins that touches both your hearts
It's the lightheaded feeling between summer songs and love affairs
It's the bulletproof comebacks that get you all the ogling stares

And sometime around happiness and that family reunion
You forget about what they gave you as Life's one instruction:
That the future isn't forever, and today might be all you get
Even though you never had any of your own kids yet.

So even though it's unlikely -- and I hope to God that that is true
Know that you will die too.
You'll have a final bow.
So take a moment and inhale the beauty that is now.

Because we all think we're young -- just admit it: it's true.
No amount of birthdays will take that away from you
We are young, the world's out there to kiss our lips
Just on the brink of touching our fingertips.

Live, give, love, and conquer.
You're here just once for an unknown number.
Don't be afraid to die, and don't stress about what's after.
Leave with a suitcase and send me a postcard once you meet our Maker.

The Wedding

The flowers arrives just in time
The fresh roses and jasmines
It’s the last of the decorations
As the guest starts coming in

The tables sets for 100 guest
With a menu place at each seat
Which list all of the foods?
That they are going to eat

And At the dance floor
Have hanging roses coming down
With white ,pink and purple ribbons
And jasmines in a circle all around

My cousin ousman is the DJ
Playing romantic love songs
In his hands a sips a Carib beer
Then puts it down

Dresses of all colors
But only the bride will wear white
She is getting dress in her room
For her special day and night

She puts on her wedding dress
A bead of sweat rolls down her nose
She’s excited and so nervous
Her trembling lips red like a rose

Her black curly hair is all done
As a little bit of girl’s laughter fills the room
The final touches of her make up
And the fragrance of ultraviolet perfume

The happiness on her face is glowing
It comes out in every word that she says
And the love in her heart of knowing
With joy she heads to her wedding day

From The moment I saw her
It was love at first sight
And when I propose and she said yes
All my wishes came true that night

She is the destiny of all on my dreams
The one I will lay down my life for
The one and only one
That I will love forever more

And I know she was created in heaven
And today she is going to be my bride
I know I will cry when we say “I do
Unable to keep my emotions inside

She’s walking gracefully down the isle
Every one turns to look at her in the room
I am the luckiest man in the world
Because she’s my bride and I’m her groom

And When I put the ring on her finger
I was completely over whelm with love
And why she chose me to share her life
Is a mystery that can never be solve

And when the wedding bells rang
We kiss and hug each other tight
And Pink, white and purple balloons
And the white doves were in flight

I will cherish every moment that comes
Love her and make her happy in everyway
Make our happy home a castle
And treat her like a queen every day

This is my wife, my life, my reason to live
And I love her more than words can say
And today our two hearts beats as one
In the holy matrimony of our wedding day

Premium Member The Parable of the Wedding Feast - Matthew 22: 1-14

Jesus is indeed the great story teller
on this occasion He told of a king
telling what heavens kingdom is like
the king gave a feast for his son to bring

Those who were invited but they didn't come
then other servants went to hand out invites
but many excuses they made to not appear
despite promising a feast so very bright

This king was raging full of fire
many invited so sent army out to kill
then sought anyone to come to feast
though not worthy, bring them in still

So sent to the highways and byways
whether they be invited to be a guest
but one is found with no wedding dress
how he got in? seeing not proper dressed

The king brought judgement to bare
ordered the man to be sent in dark to weep
concluding that many indeed are called
but chosen are the few to be His sheep

("And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants[a] to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.”’ But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.” ")

Revenge Part 1

If you patiently watched the skylines
through these tough and trying times
you'll feel the thunder crash
and squint with lightning flash.
There you will see a story,
from way back in history.
So allow you mind to sail
through this girls most unfortunate tale.

Her name was Emma Lee
and at her wedding she would be.
Why shes still waiting? No one knows.
But the groom, he didn't show.
She stood there two whole weeks
until from her eye, a tear drop leaks.
As she turns to walk away
with not a single word to say.

As she steps out to the ledge
with nothing below, not even hedge.
She grabs her hair, the tangled mess
and looks down at her wedding dress.
Perfect white with satin lace,
at this time so out of place.
Pretty pearls and healed shoes,
she takes a step forward, nothing left to loose.

Falling downward, falling fast
she prays the pain, please don't last.
The pain in chest of broken heart,
of which now she is ready to depart.
When from the corner of her eye
she sees an angle in the sky.
He grabs her arm and sores up high,
on this day Emma Lee will not die.

She looks up at this wing-ed man
to focus her eyes as best she can.
To see blue eyes and golden hair,
giant wings and a chest so bare.
But Emma Lee sees a familiar sight.
The face of the angle in the nights moon light,
is that of the groom who didn't show.
How is this? She demands to know.

He sets her down in a meadow of grass,
“why did you do it?” the angle asks.
“I can't bare to live a life without you
and I can't understand why we are through.
You promised you would stay right by my side.
But now I can see, you don't want me as your bride.”
“Listen up Emma, I love you more than ever.
So please let me tell you, why we can not be together.”

The angle lifted up his hand
and with a swirl of glowing sand
a picture then appeared
to tell the story Emma feared.
As she wiped away the tears
and settled down her fears
she leaned in to learn the truth,
from this magic picture booth.

The picture showed her he was killed
by a man so anger filled
the morning he was heading
off to join his wedding.
But this man was her father
who thought that she should rather
marry young Prince William
and that is why he killed him.

Once upon a time there was a young girl,
who lived in a huge mansion with many rooms;
      And although quite young,
She was about to be married.
On her wedding day she wore her mother's dress,
It was a wondrous gown of ivory lace and beads;
She became bored with all the waiting and waiting,
So, she decided to play a game.
Her favorite game of hide and seek,
              And so she went to find a hiding place;
Into rooms she ran giggling like a child,
She wanted a new place to hide,
Not the ones that everyone knew about already.

Family and friends searched and searched for her,
They looked in every room and closet in the house;
The woods and area were searched,
The nearby lake was considered to.
But she had disappeared it seemed and that was it,
Stories were told for years about the mysterious girl;
Some thought she had just ran away in fear of marriage,
There was never an answer to the story.
Years passed and the tale faded in the telling,
                 And soon all that family was dead and buried;
And the mansion was sold to new owners,
          The house need repairs and renovations;
So workers were hired and the work began in earnest.

One day the workers went up into an attic room,
And there they saw a trunk and they thought perhaps;
It held a treasure that they could steal,
They tried to open the trunk but could not.
So the men went to get something to pry it with,
A crowbar was used and finally the lid was opened;
And the men peered inside the trunk and screamed,
For inside was a small curled up skeleton.
The skeleton was wearing a wedding dress,
               A wedding dress of ivory lace and beads;
They ran away and never said a word,
And she still lays within that attic trunk.
But the chilling twist is this - now she haunts the house,

            Wearing her beautiful wedding gown;
and all she wants - is to play hide and seek.

A Relationships Tribulations

when I first met you,
everything I wanted in a man, to me you showed
all the love we felt, I believed it to be true
you did everything to open up my heart from being cold
everyday I had new butterflies...
shopping for a wedding dress while having hopes of us building a home
foolish me to have believed all of your lies
your priorities were being wasted and staying out every other night
seven in the morning you would come stumbling through the door
eleven at night I would cry myself to sleep a little more
Everyone warned me to stay away from you...
so naive, I continued to see only the good in you
no matter what you did, I consistently remained by your side
while in the back of my mind I always knew
you and me, could never truly be
for each other we were no good
it wasn’t just you
it was me as well
I wasn’t healthy for you to pursue
you weren’t able to love me like you did when it was new
my eyes always swollen with tears
always thinking you would change
eventually I had to face reality...change was no where near...
All of your mistakes have taken a toll on me, you never did understand how affected I have remained
always blaming me...never looking at you
thought you would always protect me,
no matter the situation, I never imagined you would be the one to hurt me
its crazy how my love for you made me stay around
what hurt the most, you took my worst fear, and literally threw it on top of me
why couldn’t you see, all of the hurt you have caused me, why didn’t you stop to see?
I'll never be the same looking into the mirror
the reflection I continue to see shows all that you have done to me
black and blue and the touch of you
trembling every time I remember it
wishing it was just a dream and I’ll wake up to something new
when I say I will never be the same
I mean I will become so much stronger
make no mistake, you wont be my mistake any longer
I now know my worth is greater than yours,
my beauty is spectacular,
my heart is special,
my body is precious,
I am no longer a victim
I am a person worth having the best in my life
I am a survivor
I am a mentor whom will help guide others
everyday will be a struggle,
yet, everyday will prove an accomplishment

Premium Member Ballad of Little Arlene

She was lean, she was mean, a fighting machine.
Sixteen brothers had toughened her up.
She was secret woman, our little Arlene.
Raised on cold kerosene from a cup.

Our mother had passed when Arlene came into the world,
On a horribly stormy and mean October Saturday night.
We all crowded around, as the drama unfurled,
Sixteen brothers, and a dad, oh, so tight.

We dressed her in our best hand-me-downs, the best fellows all around.
And took turns with her feedings, up until a quarter ‘til three.
Dressed in blue overalls, and short-named Arley, she loved to run around.
Like a wild thing, thinking she was a boy, the best she could be.

When she started to school, the teachers wanted her to change F to M,
Thinking she was a boy, a fellow, one of the guys, which she thought she was.
Until one accidentally discovered she was girl, but knew nothing of fem.
Then them teachers started horning in teaching her to cook and sew and stuff.

Pa and us stood helplessly by, as they tried to change Little Arley into a girl.
It was great when she could make delicious chili soup and cheese cake surprise
But we were all irritated at sixteen when she started wearing girl clothes,
And got her eyes on some idiotic seventeen-year-old not-so-great guys.

She went to the prom, and we all followed along in our pick-up trucks and RVs.
She was our baby, and we were not about to let anything change our family’s way.
Five years later we followed her and her new husband to Texas, so he could see.
She was our baby, and we were not going to let her move so far away.

The marriage did not last, and we have lots of reasons and thinking about the why.
But she is home with pa now, safely tucked away, with her wedding dress on the closet door.
Making chili and pastries, and other good stuff like molasses cookies and pumpkin pie.
Home where she belongs, wild and crazy as ever, Little Arlene, we always knew before.

Little Arlene, the best auntie around,
Little Arlene, the one our children adore.
Little Arlene, the best sister we have found,
Little Arlene, home for ever more.
Little Arlene, Little Arlene, Little Arlene!

A battlefront benefactress,
She has her fortress, a fortified Princess, inside the dungeon of distress,
Tiled with the bone chips of ingratitude colored in pigments of black bright & rugid red,
An arrowhead chandelier illuminated by wicked tears, wet with woe,
Everybody saw her wedding dress, they all knew the warfield wardrobe,
But how many cared to touch her sorrow gown, how it hung on those exhausted shoulders,
The lilac one piece she wore for private pain,
Gain gauged by perseverence of self defense, vengence on Victory's tombstone,
How many visit that ceremony, where love is isolated amidst jealousy's cackle,
Do any of them frown with sympathy for the debt of her crown,
For every jewel in the tierra there exists a bruise upon her beautiful body,
An assault levied by the 'learned', the rape of a writer wrought by the wretchedly wanton,
Honors earned ransomed by pitiful rivalry, kindness taken in the grip of disingenuous delight,
Some say her very name is a curse, an anethema from some God foresaken moon,
Poet Destroyer, 'Too much nerve, too much passion' they exclaim,
Its only natural for her ingrown throne to be a thorn
In the fingertip of the editorial 'elite',
They know we will bleed for her grace like the children of wild sport,
The Poet Destroyer shall not hurt us as educators of deformity do,
She will not impose false limits on our brows,
She will not strike our eyes with rotten ink,
And look now you vultures of vice, we are Legion,
We are Brothers and Sisters of the Quill, raise your sight and behold our Worshipful Queen,
She rests not long in the sanctuary of her inner star, here we are,
Leading the war march towards you with captured & dried quills
Of imposter poets lashed to her sheild of cauterized parchment
Imprinted with the blessings of all literary Titans who have warred before,
We step forward While chanting in crazed concentration,
Oh woe to you,
Victors of vanity, victims of sanity!!!

This composition has been made in honor of the Poet Destroyer, aka. Linda,
A beautiful woman, a guiding Light, a warrior of liberated and Divine Art.
