Premium Member Mad About Towns
When we set out on a road trip
We didn’t stick to the old script
And were gladly amazed
And rarely unfazed
Hitting strange towns though some were skipped

We started from Thatsnot, OK
Which was more or less ok
But then...

Poetry Soup Is…

A place to post words and be heard
a platform for prose, a poet’s eatery
A sonneteer’s palace, for the sagacious or the absurd
A silver chalice that pours golden poetry
Rhymed and skillfully quilled
Artful...

POETIC LYRICS BY THOMAS L.H. ANDREWS

Dear Marcus...it's-'nother-Sun-day...morn...horse's...feel-ing...wrong
My-sto-mache...just-hurts!
Clos-ets...full-but...noth-ing-fits!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

Daddy's...gone...and-Ma's...gone-too!
The-pretty...gold-en-circles...'round-my-bowl...don't-spin-right!
Clos-ets-fulla-clothes...but-my-heart's...just-empty!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

Round-ing-the-cor-ner...pho-tos-just-might-just-might...be-ready!
My-sto-mache...just-hurts!
Marble-d-stoney-blue-'n-green...beads-'n-reds-too...hang-too-heavy!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

A-wrist-with-out...a-flower-ed...pink-'n-white-red-or-white-rose!
Just-doesn't-feel-right-just-isn't-right...doesn't-spin-right!
Clos-ets...full-but...noth-ing-fits!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

My-slip-pers-silvery-beaded-blue...and-I'm-too!
A-gold-en-line-runs-through...sleep-less-nights!
My-vani-ties-fulla-pride-'n-his-tears...Robby's-too!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

Oh-how-the-hell...does-it-get-well?
When-tears-fall...into-Winter's-snows?
Riding-into-sun-set-pink-'n-rosen-blues...leaves-me-blue!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

Sabled-brushes-and-dif-ferent-strokes-of-pain...and-paint!
Paint-me-blue...was-he-blue-too...or-him?
My-vani-ties-fulla-pride-'n-his-tears...Robby's-too!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!

A-liquid-gold-line-round-my-glas-sen-beads...marbled-per-fection!
He-was-my...liquid-gold-line-round-my-glas-sen-beads...
Marbled-per-fection!
A-corner-run...till-clo-sing!...

It's true that pork 'n' beans have
chunks that are winning

And Indian spiced pumpkin
sets your heart spinning

Pho bo's delightful, cod soup's disarming
jjamppong, French lentil --charming

Japanese dashi, vichyssoise's sweet
tater soup's smashing, pozole's a treat

Bread and butter with...

Their own local dish you might say
Some are delicious and some a bit strange
And some...

First day incognito,
called my yesterday boss
On a new burner cell,
with a free burrito ad promo toss
Told her this was my courtesy job
severance quitting HR call —
Advance notice: Fourteen
minutes minus two sabbath days
Said...

Spring
Spring

Spring is being born
in the early morning...
The glades are awakening
into gentle green,
The dawn songs of
bashful blackbirds
Are echoing through
the woods...

I am listening to the warbling
of blackbirds,
The harmonic singing
of black choirs
Lead by an
invisible...

On my heart, dear Mama
Shows me love with food piled on tables that never end

Too Many G-D Poets
Too many poets.
Dreadful.
Roiled.

Yes, I too, am a guilty poet.

While I sit and wait for my soup to arrive, I read a few pages of Simic, and the Seattle
papers.
The noodles...
