Fragility is quite a strength
just as the crucial bumblebees’ breath
Perhaps not only titularly
gentleness is stronger than severity . . .
Channeling Emily Dickinson : To be a feather in a holocaust
– hope, sewn in the soul, sings the song needed most
A minor thought on regeneration : To regrow the leg the mantis lost
– a marvel on a molecular level - most miraculous
Of majestic beauty : To behold the fragile snowflake - winter’s impetus
– intricate masterpieces exist in the microscopic and minutest
Plant power is undisputed : To reap lemongrass’ healing gifts
– behold a beloved botanical treasure of abundant benefits
Quantity trumps quality when better suited : To cut out the mountains through erosive agency
– water as a weatherer works wondrously
Sources of energy : From the brilliant and prodigious mitochondrion - a natural wonder
to the multifaceted palm frond - suitable as tinder
It can certainly be said that, in the slight
one can perceive preternatural might
So, as the Scots say, “while we breathe we hope”
and our delicate operatives firmly stay a-float

Sails an evening when breaths lay quietly
On obscure places fluid as winds,
Where afterglow of joy becomes a
hammock
lulling frayed veins with lemongrass tea.
Sails an evening allowing surrender
its hypnotic intoxication
The exchange of matter and being--
A silent play of sutra glances
heaving along red moonlit air,
as two palms ignite a charmed lure,
kama passion pure:
For across the distance sails a glow of evening.

Our love is like a bowl of curry
Sour and salty, then sweet and spicy
It lingers and savors slowly
Explodes a burst of umami
Perhaps the lemongrass and lime
Gives aroma of our passing time
What is life if you're not mine?
A lonely shrimp floating on a brine
It is often misunderstood
A healthy meal doesn't taste so good
But affection that is unwooed
Is unreal as cheap fast food
As I took a sip of tamarind juice
A peak of pleasure it produced
My heart melted and infused
Knowing your love I'll never lose
This is our love story
That sees beyond taste and beauty
True love shall never hurry
But waits until it's ready

Come to my lips, elixir!
Your divine broth,
clear and pure,
humble and exotic,
simple yet complex.
Your hint of lemongrass,
a sprig of cilantro,
a handful of shrimp.
"Mild?" "Yes, rather mild,
I'm just not that brave."

Cotton clouds,
blue skies,
chasing the butterflies
wildflowers
and grassy bed
the celestial sphere overhead
leaning trees,
green foliage,
sweet wild berries
cuckoos singing
and crickets answering
murmuring cool stream
lemongrass sprouting
on both banks
unwatched dreams,
crowding in the eyes
dusty feet
and soiled pants
but ecstatic memories
and beautiful discoveries.

Oatmeal cooks in the washing machine, getting warmer,
chocolate chips make stains on the canvas.
My white feather mantle blows in lavender air, downy snowflakes
grace the lemongrass ground.
Cats’ paws lead a waltz, in tune with the piano, cattails swaying
to the slow dance: brush, swish, slide, still.
The curtains on yesterday are drawn: brush, swish, slide, still.
Someone is sweating on my window, droplets carrying vitality,
splattered like wayward pigeons on a skyscraper. A fog rises,
eyes open.
Someone is sweating on my window.
Eyes open.
Falling backwards into a hammock, swinging in slow motion.
Eyes open.
Falling forwards like a raindrop on glass.
Eyes open.

Come to a place of enlivening comfort.
In this exotic garden, lift your lungs.
Vanilla beans dangle from the vining orchid.
A likeness of birthday cake baking
awakens adrenaline,
as exciting and familiar as friends,
as smooth and creamy as silk.
Rustle sandalwood leaves between your hands.
Explore the bark's core, richness in depth.
Breathe in a fresh, earthy, woody fragrance
like a hug from mother nature.
Lie down upon a pillow of lemongrass,
delectably relaxing in uplifting whiffs,
flowing tresses of citrus refreshment.
Let geranium leaves rain upon your face,
brushes of femininity gently tickling,
sweet and akin to rose's aroma.
As essential oils harmonize,
inhale the fragrance of my skin
as pheromones rise for you.

the number falling before three and preceding five
sacred in my culture to ground us to the nature of all things
the time of life when 'being' develops
and connects mind, body and spirit with life
the need for sanctuary, meditation, strength, being self
is found in the teachings of elders . . .
it is the life phase of babyhood, child, adult and elderly
the healing herbs in my culture
of sage, lemongrass, tobacco and cedar
it is the seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter
the directions of north, south, east and west
the elements of fire, air, water and earth
movements of a symphony, strings of a violin
calling birds in a famous Christmas song
suits in playing cards, legs of furniture, wheels, corners
three plus one . . .
the fab Beatles, a quartet, tetrad
limbs on the human body, angles
lucky clover found in the green, green grass
weeks of advent, shape of the holy cross
the number of angels watching over me from Heaven . . .

~
She stood amidst the tropic breeze
the girl with blue Aruba eyes
Between the fruiting mango trees
neath pastel sunset shimmered skies
Meandering this summer’s eve
we stroll the shoreline hand in hand
Where lemongrass and grottos weave
and footprints wander in the sand
Alone this twilight paradise
as moonbeams glow on suntanned skin
Melodic turquoise waves entice
a seaside romance to begin
When here on dampened shore we kiss
my heart it beats in whispered sighs
Her beauty is my island bliss
the girl with blue Aruba eyes
~
Since it is winter, I thought I’d take a poetic trip to the tropics
Care to join me

Autumn
Foliage on the trees
Red fire adorn the leaves
Bloody berries on display
Acorn and pine cones in disarray
Squirrel and chipmunk stuff their cheeks
As they’ll hibernate for weeks
A toasty, sweet and spicy fume
Warm aroma fill the room
Lemongrass ,ginger ,star anise and cinnamon,
The vigilant mother hen
A kettle of hot tea
Cloudy puffs of steam, what a wonder to see
A bowl of pumpkin soup sprinkled with its seed
Buttery crescent with cream cheese
Snow boots fit with ease

There are many beautiful scents like rose,
a red rose is what a lover will chose;
elegant, opulent, everlasting,
so sweet with white baby's breath contrasting.
I use lavender scent as a perfume,
and it has a pretty and charming bloom;
growing it for its pale violet hue,
oh, the color could almost be called blue,
I like lemongrass- for it is gentle,
chamomile scent makes me sentimental;
mint is stimulating, crisp, fresh and clean,
I imagine the plant growing bright green.
Scents can conjure up long past emotions;
and memories floating in vast oceans.

Sour green grapes are safely tucked away,
Under steady sure gaze of pirate king.
A mold of earthworms surround thee and play.
Amid your shoelaces, boot straps a thing.
Dull lemongrass dusts the ship’s unclean deck.
Sail with trusted mates, empty belly,
We gawk and stare at a gray ghost ship wreck.
The crew glares over red cat fish jelly.
Sharks have had fill of human blood today.
Ale goes down, uncomfortable gulps.
Best to ignore death and stay out of way.
Hide in a closet from besties, McHups.
An angry crew on a fine sunny day
Will rip you apart, your friends do not play.
