Notes About The Poem

Heart of Time

“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn
Time has an interesting way of revealing riveting narratives, embossed within ivory clams in raven letters, perhaps, it is the crippling kismet, that dahlia dreamers are shackled by society’s sanctimoniousness, but I still follow my roseate heart to swiftly lead this pristine paragon of moving minutes. I can hear the wanton wolves devour the magnanimous moon, transcribing unheard nocturnal tales, emanating through deep russet eyes of a silent stallion~ as I leave poetic footprints through heels of a black caviar horse by the nacreous shoreline. Someday, the sun will rise and allow me to embrace colors of you again, although torturous tentacles of marine monsters malevolently try to steal the soothing hope within my soul, from a thousand seas away. If only they knew, skies can reach beyond prancing peacock dreams emblazoning distant horizons, with a plethora of milky quartz, perfumed in whispers of lemongrass, reflecting silvery echoes of a cosmic whale’s conch shell, floating in an ancient bottle of antique emotions, anchored to the depths of bottomless oceans, where corals have our fate rewritten within chambered nautilus. So, wait for me when twilight dims, and meteor showers come crashing, to pour blazing stars upon lime green planktons, for my soul is surfing through aquatic realms, to find my homely sanctuary in your arms glossed in lavender balm, I breathe beneath seraphic spheres, devouring the ticking seconds, dancing to the wind that whispers in trembling tunes, unafraid and unshaken by the unknown. I live in the moment, celebrating the air that wraps me in wisteria warmth. The sun-soaked stairway to porcelain peacefulness, is to steer your heart, through the art of mindfulness.

Dear Empress! Well how does one spell breathtaking! I read through this several times and kept thinking, how evocative! I really believe your words beautifully capture the essence of living in the moment, which I like to call mindfulness. Empress, your talent for painting such stunning pictures with words is truly inspiring to me. That is what makes you a great poet!! A Fav!! - Blessings, My Dear, Friend, Daniel

"dahlia dreamers are shackled by society’s sanctimoniousness," How true! People who do not have any morality or ideals waxing eloquent on morality and values are so repulsive. Though much is out of reality's reach, you hope-"Someday, the sun will rise and allow me to embrace colors of you again, although torturous tentacles of marine monsters malevolently try to steal the soothing hope within my soul". Dear Empress, this hope lets our soul survive. Once again you prove you are unbeaten. A very deep and engaging write. Live, devouring the ticking seconds. "I live in the moment, celebrating the air that wraps me in wisteria warmth" Wow... This is the best poem I have read in Carpe Diem.

I could survive just imagining your metaphors Dearest Ink. This is an astounding piece and you have dished it nicely with your perfect mixtures. Amazing alliterations. When we have to wait for love, it sometimes takes a century. "I live in the moment, celebrating the air that wraps me in wisteria warmth.” so many favourite lines. It's so engaging. "that dahlia dreamers are shackled by society’s sanctimoniousness." Great work. Cheers.

i think I would name you the queen of imagery and alliteration. So many cool phrases in this one, such as malevolent monsters and torturous tentacles. The list goes on and on! You always finish off with poignant endings as well. Like what you said about living in the moment. Never stop living that way, Ink.

So much to take in here, still digesting and contemplating this dish!!! WOW. Such a deep, engaging and reflective read. I too find myself “shackled by societies sanctimoniousness” (great line), so many great lines actually, too many to mention here. Another captivating and award winning piece Empress. Well done

IE, I saw in the third stanza a turn toward another soul. I can certainly understand wanting to steer someone’s thoughts in your direction. It’s very noble and hopeful to try for that, but as you say…you are living in the moment. That is the best way to live. Perhaps a reunion will occur in some special time. A lot of psychology to think about here. I’m smiling thinking about it!

Sometimes it feel like we wait forever for someone... sometimes it is forever.. "Time has an interesting way of revealing riveting narratives," sets the tone for your poem, suggesting that time is a storyteller, unveiling the intricate stories of life... I like how it portrays time as a revealer of life's hidden stories and experiences. I like how the poem concludes with a focus on mindfulness and living in the moment as a way to find peace and connection. Best of luck in the contest.
