There in ragged suit
shameless jester at mimic
cloaked in attitude

I ascend to the stage, 
I make sure not to stumble or trip.  
They cheer and they boast and they cackle.
They like this new persona. 
A beautifully doctored facade.
Would they like the girl behind the curtains?
They like my makeup and the pigment of my lipstick
Would they like my natural face?

The warden's dog steals every snack,  
The inmates plot to get them back.  
A daring heist for honey buns,  
'Til Fluffy wins, and off he runs!  

The gym’s a war of flexing might,  
Larry claims he’s built for flight.

Is my life a toy, tossed in the hands of fate?  
Pulled apart by cruelty, yet I refuse to break.  
If not vindictive, then why this cold disdain?  
Am I merely dust beneath your twisted game?  

You cast me aside like whispers in the wind,  
Unseen, unheard, dismissed without regret.

Jester Girl

Jester Girl had the well-known idea that she was a big deal
Her parents would drop everything for her, including their meal.
If she wanted a costume, her father would run to the sewing machine.
Her mother did not cook, do laundry or sew, she was the family queen.

I'm a Ghetto clown, a fool for the cash/
Juggling dreams while the world does a dash/
If laughter's a crime, then call me a crook/
I'll steal your frown with a single look/

Jester the Joker

Jester The Joker juggled bottles
decorated with the reddest flame.
Three jars spun jiggling in the air
jars four and five he held with care.
Letting go of the ones in his hands
he caught the next two on command.

but, out of one jumped Winnie the Poo.

Sonnet 8: The New Jester

The words of the many came out to a new call, soon to be damned
The words of the paper overtook the red ink and made the pages blue
The results eventually would be the words and marks of the damned
Oh! my, how did the cries of striped doves go into the air as they flew

Jester collects round clocks
He puts them in his lap
Barely moving, so none of them rocks.
He is a gentleman without flap

Sits primly with his back straight
Protecting his bounty for sure
Jester is a guy first rate
Keeps those clocks pristinely pure

Defying Predictability

With hair ablaze
a jester unconfined.
I scoffed at the mundane 
its life declined.
My wardrobe 
a riot
a rhapsody bold.
Mismatched socks my standard 
stories untold.

In classrooms of tedium 
rules I'd defy
Grasping forbidden knowledge 
'neath watchful sky.
Craving for wisdom in 
esoteric wells.
Chased squirrels with saws 
casting fanciful spells!

Detentions for antics 
the school's icy stare
Derided in classrooms 
a spirit too

For those who know me, this may be a surprise
My mood lately has been less than upbeat
The years must be catching up with me
Lately I've been thinking a lot about life
How it all seems so very short
Seems like just yesterday, we had our first child
He is now about to turn sixty-four
Where did it go???

Jester In Transit

Bending a breaking point
rupturing time
Eons of history
skirting the line

Paradox native
our true D.N.A.
Truth as a concept
forever in play

Yessing and noing    
transfixed in between
The jester in transit
all canons demeaned

Freeing the moment
 the first wedded last
a twist to the turning

Hurricane jester
spinning with the calmest eye;
Cranked on retrograde.
