The taxi speeds down the highway
zig zagging to miss the potholes.
It slows as a horse and cart crosses,
followed by the owner's dog.
On the other carriageway people wait
hoping someone will give them a lift.
An old Cadillac smokes its way down the road.
In the town, buildings are like well-worn pairs of shoes –
they fit, still function but have seen better days.

But the people are well nourished, clothed and clean.
Smiles of genuine happiness are all around.
This is a country which lives to a different pulse -
Ché its heartbeat,
Fidel its lifeblood.
People are living the revolution where others have failed –
common wellbeing before personal gain,
society’s hallmark is equality and colour-blindness.

Educated and cultured, enjoyment is beyond the material.
Musical rhythms set the daily pace.
There is a determination to live and succeed despite hardship.
But is it only hardship when seen through Western eyes?
The freedom of spirit is to be admired.
But what does the future hold?
The greatest challenge is yet to come –
influx of other peoples from not so far away.

¡Cubana!

third eye pulsates
we stay with it
simply present
in the current

God’s disc of light
hovers above
there is no hiatus
in influx of grace

If mind is in control, we remain constrained,
anchored in fires of dark desires and deep fears,
so how then may we be from ego unchained,
free from taunts and jibes of our thought demon’s jeers?
First things first, for love and light to be ingrained,
we must be still, so that when God’s presence nears,
we resist not influx of bliss magnetism,
igniting from head to toe, mind-body prism.

Temptation

Temptation

Foundation.

In such a fluid interconnected world, are long-term relationships dwindling in numbers?

Is temptation saturating society, and creating an influx of such communications, subtly asking for a second chance?

The Email to Monique

Whenever I think of you,
I always feel a familiar calling

A soft echo which rhythmically whispers before morning

I can still feel you

And it carries such magnificent tales of us slipping and sliding

Entwined together spiritually
As a new world was dawning

But like all things borne into the bright lights

There are things lurking in the night

Things we failed to see
To pray against and fight

And so now we both live alone

Me in bondage to time and memories

And you
A sentinel in the in-between spaces

Who I still see

A serene face reflected in random windows

“Perdóname mi amor
La oscuridad vino por mi

Y en ese único momento
Olvidé tu nombre"

The darkness came for me

And in that one moment
I forgot your name

Oh! got my eyes on sober;
Me mind on roving;

Like metal I'm shiny, I cling;

Winter Blues, Spring Clues
Miracle Man
2/24/2025

Soon God will usher winter days to sleep,
and the warming air will cause birds to sing.
Lawns will turn green and require some upkeep,
this is the happening, welcoming spring.

The thing most appealing, arriving birds,
the Robins are our first birds to appear.
Then Mocking Birds spewing other birds words,
but to flocks of Starlings i don’t endear.

From the patio I watch Wrens at work,
putting four inch sticks through a one inch hole.
Each episode I’ve watched was a piece of artwork,
they don’t tire or stop until at their goal.

The Cardinals add color to our drab yard,
eating sun flower seeds that we provide.
From a phone line a Scissor Tail on guard,
Doves peck last fall’s acorns at driveways side.

Some days seen, a sudden influx of crows,
and the north breeze still gives me one last nip.
whispering gently from the north it blows,
while my now cold mug gives me one last sip.

How I Love Japan

Praise and grace makes me love Japan
Seeing the streets are so clean
No trash and trash cans anywhere
And no one eats while walking
Totally different culture to Manila
No discriminate picture of choices
Temples and festivals a yearly to behold
The cherry blossom tree is my favorite
That capture my unforgettable smell
Special soup, teriaki, shusi and sashimi
Non stopping, alluring, watering my mouth
Plus the influx of modern science and technology
Made this country number one in many ways
How made this archipelagic country get its name
Really mesmerizes me so much and bewildered me
This is a nation truly you lack adjectives to say.

Premium MemberWithin this lucid dream

Abstractions rely on the manifest,
as immanent souls too seek transcendence,
providing for presence a merry fest,
realising life’s interdependence.

Negating nothing, embracing the all,
in is-ness of the now, we just allow
influx of bliss mists wherein we stand tall,
knowing, not naming, the eternal Tao.

All mental concepts to us are the same,
for we are now poised in the vibrant void,
awaiting the fulfilment of life’s aim,
to merge in God’s light, pure and unalloyed.

Let each intent wave be a work of art,
causing within, bliss ignition to start.

how can feeble organic form hold
rapture borne by bliss magnetism
it cannot
so the current is regulated
allowing time for assimilation

we are grateful
to that supreme intelligence
which watches over us tenderly
wherein all we do is allow
influx of divine grace

Sitting quietly with iPad in hand,
we allow musings of soul to arise
and although our mind does not understand,
it reflects all hues of offered surprise,
penning a poem before the ink dries,
the influx of grace, ineptly portrayed,
since we are by patterned thinking betrayed.

a divine sight once beheld
was by memory recalled
by our ego thus seeking
the influx of grace was stalled

why wallow in the shallows
when the ocean calls to soul
be still oh worthy hermit
that God’s touch may make us whole
