Influenza Poems

Premium MemberHis Willy Had Influenza

A long time ago in a land far away
Lived a shy young fellow, quite awkward they say
So shy with the fillies
He pretended his willy
Had influenza and couldn't come out to play

It seems like I’m hit with a dose of flu
My skin feels so sensitive to the cold
It will run its course nowt else I can do
It's harder to shake off as you get old.

I feel I’m not here my head is away
Dosing my self with medical potions
Lemon drinks are the order of the day
With care I take in measured proportions.

Worst of all I've got no inspiration
Nothing coming in or out of my head
I'm in a state of mental stagnation
Feel like a zombie lying in this bed.

I sweated profusely throughout the night
Hope after six days I'll start to feel right.

Influenza Scary Milestone

DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION.

Non of us are old enough to remember
the nineteen eighteen awful influenza,
this pandemic documented as bird flu
hundred years on could be me or you,
then over five hundred million perished
now it could be loved ones, our cherished,
since then our world has become smaller
are we ready for this unwelcome caller,
we have arrived at the influenza’s milestone
this will travel from time zone to time zone
this time we can rely on antibiotics and drugs
do we know if they will work on these bugs,
though we must live in hope so go out and grab
your essential free or expensive vaccination jab.

Influenza

It’s a nasty disease.
Infection spreads by sneeze.
If you get it, you’ll wheeze.
Intense fever and chills,
Illness that sometimes kills.

Injected with vaccine,
Immunity is seen.

Influenza

IN-FLU-ENZA!
IN-FLEW-ENZA!
This was not my today's agenda,
Hankies for snuffles my addenda,
Here I rest, moribunda!
Wintry weather down under,
Suppose it is not so bad,
Bed rest to be had,
Not in the rat race,
Cosy bed today's place,
Definitely not my today's agenda,
IN-FLU-ENZA!

Influenza Stanza

A rippling of shivered skin
Convulsing tides of sweat
Induced spasms of chaotic
Visions of cataclysmic madness

Choking down pharmaceutical
Faith in medicinal fists, full
Of killers
Of pain

Where writhing in torsions of hotness
Lapse fleetingly into delicious
Snatches of delusional sleep and
Dream; among corpses of influenza victims

Laid bare by blinding
Headaches splitting
Muscle mucus into
Coughing fits of
Laughter why me

To peel apart the cocoon
Of a drug sloughed illness
Where the silhouette of humanity
Sings your recovery
Over a beaten body
