Influenza Scary Milestone

DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION.

Non of us are old enough to remember
the nineteen eighteen awful influenza,
this pandemic documented as bird flu
hundred years on could be me or you,
then over five hundred million perished
now it could be loved ones, our cherished,
since then our world has become smaller
are we ready for this unwelcome caller,
we have arrived at the influenza’s milestone
this will travel from time zone to time zone
this time we can rely on antibiotics and drugs
do we know if they will work on these bugs,
though we must live in hope so go out and grab
your essential free or expensive vaccination jab.

Great topic for this contest... the sad thing is that it can destroy so many and if it catches on, it could destroy humanity.. there could be a strain of flu that is so vicious to achieve that..

Well written Roy, it was terryfying I cant believe how many died. I researched this for a verse I wrote a while back ,The Spanish flu pandemic. There is no guarantee it won't happen again. Good luck. Tom
