Inexcusable Poems

Premium MemberIn Praise of the Euphemism

Of that body part men activate
to urinate or procreate –
as the case or need may be –
it’s clinical terminology
is still considered by many
as off limits in polite society
whereas its vulgar substitutes
still more than ever constitute
the norm, though by the puritanical
are condemned as inexcusable.
And, therefore, to circumvent
their use and avoid embarrassment
they’ve been discreetly sanitized
and inoffensively euphemized
or camouflaged, whichever term
will spare you to least squirm –
like peepee, whatchamacallit,
skin faucet, little man, or whatsit.
Whereas using even the proper
or vulgar words will cause a shudder
leading to outbreaks of friction
by those who abhor such diction.
Even a French menu word like “coq”
(rooster, as in “coq au vin”) will shock,
and unless it’s correctly vocalized,
please leave that one unanglicized!

You can't run from accountability

We know your game
And we are not going to become slaves to it
We've seen you spin your lies like a spiders Web
Your crimes of deceit will come back to smite you
The heavens will rain down on you
There is no escape from eternity

Hear these words said
Let them infest your head
Your silence will betray you
Days will turn to nights
Insomnia will plague you
Like darkness it will consume you
The weight of your actions will crush you
The pain you've inflicted on black people
Will come back to haunt you
Forever waiting in the shadows to spook you
You will know no peace in life and death
This is a promise
A warning
And a threat

What you've done to my people
Is inexcusable

Premium MemberThe Birthday Gift

I’ve an inexcusable habit,
forget my wife’s birthday.
This time I promise myself I won’t.
So, on that day from backyard
I pluck a blooming red rose,
keep it hidden till the dinner time
when I give her the single flower.
She doesn’t smile, for the story has begun.

"To play a wrong note is insignificant, to play without passion is inexcusable"
                                                                                  Beethoven

Hands above the keyboard, flexible fingers start to dance
Up and down, back and forth, so skillfully they prance
Interpreting a dream into a poem without words
Awakening both heart and soul, emotions swiftly stirred

The restless soul is soothed, unsolicited tears fall
Such beauty in the sadness that the heart becomes enthralled
Soft and sweet love unrequited, sobs in every phrase
I quietly sit and listen as "Moonlight Sonata" plays

Thirty six, fifty two, black and white piano keys
Serenading time and making music written to appease
The fingers slowly moving in a minor c sharp chord
Which brings me back full circle, hands at rest above keyboard.

Break Up Whine

His evasion of responsibility inexcusable…
though behaviour of this being as per usual
originally from broken where never taught devotion
great pity he grew without learning.
Fidelity and faithfulness insignificant
from the superficial apathetic participant
thus emptiness diverged from initial love of splurge
revolved...evolved am now to be discerning.

Love In America

Husband, brother, son,
lover, friend -
Will we see you again?
Will you be a headline on the news?
Unarmed and unashamed.
We stand fearful and furious
in tear soaked silent pleas.
Something must change.
His skin won't warrant death,
and our hearts won't continue to pay
the inexcusable cost
of love in America.

Premium MemberAfter the Hurricane

Deadly hurricane surged and diffused all over
Destroyed all with its diabolical power
Devastated and submerged the low-lying realms
Demolished all docks, houses, roads and toppled elms
Decimated the life in a large proportion
Dismantled violently the secure position
Disfigured beautiful landscape of rich green lush
Dispelled existing course of action into gush
Danger bells were ignored and there so many wails
Distressing ghastly sights are heart rending tales
Detached life from nature is inexcusable
Destined grief, a wound which is incorrigible

Premium MemberInexcusable Infraction

An inexcusable infraction by neighbor caused her to pout.
She was angry three days later when she let the cat out.
How long can you be mad at me? Neighbor asked with a shout.
She turned to face him, and elevated her prissy angry snout.
He began to laugh, and so did she. The end of this ridiculous pout.
Truthfully, by now, she had forgotten what the infraction was about.

Premium MemberThe Plea Deal

Look, we know
The silent screams of yesterday moan on
Between the quiet dances with
Some random God Queen.

All days are like this.
All dogs love this.

Here it is:
Straight from the center of Heartbreak America.
The undulating weirdness that is all and
Our unifying impulse to label all of the "is all."

While yesterday hurls invectives,
Future gently nudges with a
Presumptive smile,
A scheming brain.

Now beat it. Just beat it.
Be there for your microwave.
Avoid going insane.

Take heart this is your only life
With this inexcusable amount of strife.

Fractured, In Fact

I'm broken in pieces
I'm fractured, in fact
by more than a few
inexcusable acts

I try to acknowledge
each piece of my mind
or at least all the bits
that I still can find

An artist, a writer
aspiring poet-
perhaps other things
I don't even know yet!

Coming into my own
although now middle-aged
recovering wreckage
from the wars I have waged

I'm broken in pieces
yet, hopeful at last
for present and future
a change from the past...

cold-hearted punch
    came on suddenly. . .
blank expression of
sideways troll
passes by.
    passed out microphone
        with a body nearby.
  inexcusable
soul —
       soulless satisfaction. . .
second death sold
  to the wandering whorl.

Calligraphy

Ignorance comes with a specific gesture of innocence
After lifting a mountain, there is none, with your limitations.
And, I will start here, past the speaker and the audience, conversations...
I was looking at the calligraphy along the wall. Scriptures. Huge and magnificent.
Little did I know about. And, it was a very different kind.Aesthetical views certify.
I wished; I could touch those words! Only to reach the skills of a dedicated craft.
I was gazing through those words. In my mind, with an inexcusable lack of efforts. Islamophobia, a tantalizing talk nowadays, to tag questions with a context of life.
Never met the artists, for stories untold, behind the dedication, inspiring, at least.
Lavish, tall structures with those massive chandeliers, competing for divine light.
And, I was nobody but an inner cry. Though nothing is trivial in the eyes of God.
He, who knows, limitations of those working hands, with a toiling, struggling life!

Premium MemberThe Most Despicable Act

It was inexcusable,
Mean,
Terrible,
Despicable,
Horrible
Inevitable,
Inescapable,
The worst I had ever seen

What was it?

I stood and stared at her.
Wishing I could remember.

Slam Time

So you think that you’re better?
My diction ain’t got no fetter
I can pull books from just one letter.

It’s a skill I’ve been honing
While you’ve been atoning
For rhymes inexcusable
Yeah I’m not defusable.

You think you’re so clever
But I’ll use you like a lever
All your weak lines I’ll sever.

Stack them up like a ladder
My victory spoken from your tongue
And every time you get madder
I’ll just climb another rung.
