Hirsute Poems

Premium MemberMy Hectic Hair History

There’s a nadir of personal despair -
In feminine terms it’s - No hair, no flair!

My hairy genes caused me lifelong distress,
I longed for a look I didn’t possess.

I daydreamed of golden locks as a girl,
Blessed with neither a wave nor with a curl.

Straighter than hay mine hang in disarray,
Cradle to coffin - lifelong bad hair day.

And so pertaining my hapless hirsute
I was braided, I ironed in my pursuit.

Slept with hard rollers, a perm I did try,
And lots of hairspray, that’s how I went by.

In vanity’s name I bent backwards in vain
Since straight and straighter my old locks remain.

No quiescent coiffure is meant for me -
Distressing tresses are my destiny.

                    and everyone were

Premium MemberCorny, Hairy and Schmo

Three funny guys, Curly, Larry, and Mo
Slapstick comedians, you all must know
But there are three circus clowns
Who create mayhem and frowns
The crowd calls them Corny, Hairy and Schmo

Corny thinks he's the wily ring leader
Acting as if he's a Walmart greeter
Talking like he's really cool
But people laughed at the fool
Gobbled by the lion called 'Man Eater'

Hairy can be a bear when in pursuit
Got his name from being very hirsute
He was threatened with a shave
If he refused to behave
He bit off his tongue and now is a mute

Sad has become the life of flunky Schmo
He feeds peanuts to monkeys in the show
Since he lost his two friends
Finds himself at loose ends
Three circus clowns; each one was a bozo

A band of comrades rather strange I think you will agree
This oddball bunch together shared a commonality…

The panda didn’t pander to the niceties of style
He wore his usual coat which he had done for quite some while

The zebra was a Libra with an eye for what’s in fashion
She loved the skin she’s swaddled in and flaunted it with passion

The badger was a cadger but he didn’t want your suit
He’ll cadge your lunch but he’s content with being so hirsute

The puffin felt like nuffin with his massive beaky nose
But still he kept his chin up for he rather liked his clothes

The magpie wouldn’t lie although he was prepared to steal
His virtues might be fake but his apparel very real

The Penguin was depending on a chance to show his class
His haute couture was something that was absolute top brass

The skunk just stunk, not all the time, but when occasion rose
His looks were good but he was quite offensive to the nose

The orca wasn’t happy to be so far from the sea
Though he was quite a corker in his shiny livery…

So when they met the parrot they tried not to put him down
But one of them just had to say… “Did you come as a clown?”

I ran toward him with flowing hair

Valentino, Romance Never Dies

"Valentino, Romance never dies"

Witness the hirsute main cat eloquently honey trapped,
the lap dance laps all the cream for what it's worth,
squeezes life out of the heart into the flipped mind
of Valentino, the bird chirps,

“romance never dies, in truth”
cats kissing caged canaries singing cabaret
Valentino, romance never dies,
not today, never not today, forsooth

(LadyLabyrinth / 2023)

“The soft wolf tread
Thru Emerald Forest
he was lookin' to make a bed
There in the spindly thicket
softly did he tread
The soft wolf tread”

Hirsute

He was a barber
a true proud pogonophile
He met a skinhead
who was pogonophobic
then things got hairy

We grew our hair down to our shoulders
Hirsute we were, moustaches and beards
Turned up our noses at those who were older
'Cos we were so hip, so freaky, so weird

Revved up our stereos, going stone-deaf
Dropped pill after pill, of common sense bereft
Wore psychedelic threads to match our psychedelic brains
We thought ourselves 'free,' but we were really in chains

Don't ask me if the Sixties were 'wonderful years!'
~ Just leave me alone with my cigars and my beer

Response To Ilene's Tush

Though Sampson was known for his hair
Delilah quite fancied him bare
She thought he'd look cute
Not quite so hirsute
And shaved him where no one would dare

Alas, when Mother Nature called
The whole world seemed to be appalled
With no hair to hide
Sampson's bouncing pride
His battering ram was blackballed

Computer-virus
A type of sirus?
Dog eared pedantic
Repetitive on automatic
Amorphic invasion maybe
Pushing for an erasion
Removing African
Eroding the Eurasians
Punishing most Asians.

Compute such dogma’

Hirsute not an option
In streamlining concoctions
Refuting forbidden
Ideas free and falling,
In ides of transitioning
Islands of resistance
Enlightement most insistent
Fighting fiercely for freedom
Against the force of dis-reason.

Also think again?
On that verbiage?
Does it define our
Stagnant garbiage?

Premium MemberHumdingers and Soap Opera Singers

Here we are already in April
        it’s time for new predictions
      A word of warning first
I used to write science fiction

      My first one’s a lulu
        a real humdinger
      I predict that Hilary Clinton
will become a soap opera singer

     The second one’s more risky
it may land in the sand
But I envision Colin Kaepernick as a hirsute
majorette with a baton in his hand

     Now for my final prediction
Please hang on to your hat
AOC's running for the Oval Office
        ~ dressed as a calico cat …

'Course, none of these fantasies will ever come true
You've read my science fiction; I’ll never fool you

Premium MemberA Real Tall Texan

Mister hirsute and strong
   just felt totally wrong

The comedian was funny
   underneath not-so-sunny

A financier, short and stout
   his bulging midriff stuck out

So, she risked it all
   on a Texan real tall

But she learned her lesson
   without any question

The taller the 'you-all'
   the farther he falls

All Dreams Deferred

All Dreams Deferred
By Sy Roth

Bilious, they lay there in a somnolent heap
Dreams imprisoned.
Langston toed them, and lethargically they wiggled
But could not rise from the ashes of their sadness.

The dreams that once took residence
Wallow now in unfilled, charmless trifles
Like an uncapped bottle of cheap champagne
Its bubbles let loose into the ether--
A flat, unquenching drink.

Is there yet a miracle in terra infirma---
A thorned crown, stigmata of pierced palms.
Speared middle
To awaken dreams from the icy prisons?

It’s a drain to function
In an eclectic world where all spread a pall over everything,
Hums sad tunes, funeral dirges to dead friends,
Dying in inches
Toward inevitable endings,
Wishing only for a tranquil pass around the Inferno

Only to end up
A wheelchair-bound lump of decaying flesh
With Nordic icy beaches
A hirsute blanket for eternity
Listening to the song of the worms
As they paddle their way through the soil and you
Ingesting your dreams.

Premium MemberNot To Her Liking

Uncle Jim encountered a prostitute
Southwest of the city of Institute
He paid his money,
She called him "honey,"
But then discovered him much too hirsute.
