Little trinket gather on her nightstand.
Each holding powerful memories.
The cowbell decorated with colors,
from her once so dear football team.
It's always been louder than others,
showing through with a prideful beam.
The hand painted rock,
with the sun and white fluffed clouds,
serves as a key to a lock,
to a time her voice was outspoken and loud.
The blue rubber duck,
a dear friend gifted.
It reminds her of her luck,
because she couldn't have had a friend more fitted.
The small rubber bracelet, that a group had
made. She wishes to see them again.
The small doll with a big heart,
a pass love had given her.
She apologizes every night.
she holds these memories close,
For they are so dear to her heart.
She dreams with them near,
and she has no fears.
(a throwback poem from High school)
I'm the most popular girl in my homeroom.
Of course, that's my own bedroom -
cause we're on COVID lockdown, zoom.
My bedroom is the math class, which doubles as the gym,
it triples as the theater - you should see the shows I'm in.
They're only in my mirror, so my cats get free admission.
My sudden popularity's due, to a matter of attrition.
If I play my cards right, I can probably be prom queen
I'll hold the ceremony in the garden, so the travesty goes unseen.
I’m at the net,
Fast hands, quick feet.
I read the game,
I take my stand.
You swing?
I’m there.
You tip?
I’ll block.
I jump high,
Land strong,
In the front,
I belong.
I control the court,
I set the tone.
In the front,
I stand alone.
The appeal of blonde hair never spoke to me until now
I was content with the plain brown
But then your blue gaze snagged onto mine
And now it’s taking all I have not to drown.
Droplets of rain softly fell on the field,
I stand under the roof's shield,
Waiting for you to make a move,
In the quietness, your words to prove.
The world is quiet, sky is grey,
In my heart, there's much to say.
Do you feel the way I do?
Each drop that falls, a gentle sign,
Wishing for you to look at mine.
In this rain, our hearts might find,
The courage to leave silence behind.
As the rain dances around us near,
It whispers to us clear.
In this moment, let feelings flow,
In the rain, love saplings will grow.
In A Shadow, In A Storm (Comments Welcome)
Written by: KRD - Written on :10/25/24
In a shadow in a storm that calls to me in the night and through this darkness I can see a small sliver of hope. Soft, bright and warm, a welcome trapped in a comforting embrace like a hug from childhood after something upsetting, peaceful and smoothing that is given with a grace not deserved.
Through troubled waters and life’s ups and downs it’s so easy to get turned down the path that is opposite of ours. But through His will life is blessed each day, learning each day. Taking new steps to be closer to becoming a virtuous person. A good Person.
Through His grace and His Son’s love a way will find a place to belong. A voice that can be heard in a shadow in a storm.
Love, friends and friendship became a puzzle for me
This puzzle that I could hardly solve became a tragedy
That I found myself in the middle of the puzzle.
At first I thought solving the puzzle would be easy
But the more I thought about it, the harder it became
Confess, don't confess but confess came from all sides
And choosing among the three seemed impossible
Being friends was really cool but my heart wanted more
That I could hardly spend a minute not thinking about it
And I believed love was better but friendship became a barrier
I approached a friend and he told me to make a move
Moving to another friend she told me not to as
She believed friendship was better than Highschool romance
Which is childish and faints faster than expected
Contrasting to childhood friendship which lasts until old age.
Old age is a dream of mind and a nightmare for your heart
And our hearts never lie and Your heart is heavier than you know
And only confession can off-burden the weight.
A beautiful whisper startled me, my friend true lovers are friends
And lovers are partners, confession will weaken the bond
And patience pays off a bigger bill than impatience
Drowning in my own existence
Hating life
But the ultimate passion
I had to have
No, I am not the problem
I won’t let you take my breath away
I grabbed a rock and hit your face
Gasping for air
I ran away
But you chased me
Huffing and puffing
You chased me
I hid behind a tree
Digging for my keys
Pepper spray
Extra spicy
I sprayed you
When you caught up
I kicked you between the legs
I grabbed a branch
I took a stab at you
Then I escaped
Seeing you the next day in school
Was a bit creepy
Seeing you in the drive way
Outside my window
Bothered me
Seeing you staring
Not saying a word
When the cheerleaders
Flirt, lifting their skirts
You always seemed
To be watching me
Until one day
A month later
I had no partner in chemistry class
But you sat next to me
You helped me
We laughed
We passed
You walked me home
My mother let you in
She never cooks
But she cooked for you
I cleared the table
You did the dishes
I went outside
You grin
I kissed your lips
Sliding my fingers through your curly hair
Then a loud truck pulls up
My dad was home.
A journey to the land of uncertainty
The place you find out what you want to be
You could be nervous, or excited
This is where your life is ignited
You sprout into a blessed flower
But take your time to learn your power
You could be a loner, or a peoples person
Always remember, bring your best version
There are four chapters so take your time
You will know, when it’s your prime
Take it slow because it goes fast
Enjoy your experience, have a blast
Poetry speaks Poem
play around with sentences
simulation play in life
poetry
is a word game
life
is playing
play
only dead people
who doesn't like poetry
because people die
They
really alive
I do not see further meaning
behind the choice of word
To analyze this is demeaning
I think it is absurd
Whoever decided to write this
must of been high as a kite
If you want this class to be treacherous
stab me to make it a fair fight
The only thing less moving than poetry
is the clock up on the wall
Time is is no hurry
to set me free into the hall
My teacher tries to no avail
perhaps I’m unable to learn
Or maybe all poets are evil
and just want the world to burn
Thousands of students of decades
Across the nation,
Have loads of issues with grades
And lack of motivation.
A retention to learning,
With parents calling
And graduation rates falling.
It's beginning to be so concerning,
That teachers even notice,
These kids aren't learning.
The propositions the school has given,
Halted the adults' beliefs they thought they knew.
School psychologist’s are anything but driven,
And their inadequate solutions are simply untrue.
The great idea has bestowed upon me,
And this hypothesis has been churning.
Without concern for the students I can see,
This will prove the best of your earning.
A new substance has reached the market,
That will prove me right.
LSD, Cocaine, and Meth will hit the target,
So cook with all your might.
Gracious children run freely in the halls
Now happy and cherishing all their liberty,
Can finally succeed and jump off the walls.
The teens will finally use all of their ability,
If you even have the balls.
Their improved grades are a certain probability
All until the last one falls.
