Oh, Father, Dear Father

Oh, Father Dear!

When my children were small, I played with them, I was
a good father carried them on my shoulders, but when
they became teenagers and truculent I lost all interest in
their silly arguments paid for their education and went
abroad to live in our second home in Spain.
My children never write or ring, their mother, who didn’t
come to live with me, says it is because I had forsaken
them. I paid for their university and used my influence to get
their well-paid jobs, yet they feel I should have done more
I think they should be ashamed of themselves.
It was me and my actions that made them independent
beings who can look after themselves; and I know after
I`m gone they will understand, I’m not the cuddling type,
but I made them whole; and yes, I think of them often,
love them very much, but will not seek their approval.
And if anyone of them read this and think the old man
has gone soft and sent me letters of love I will, without
a second thought, tell them to piss off, my money will go
to my second family in Spain, I have young children here
and I carry them on my shoulders every day.

Premium MemberI Do Not Entertain Old Guys

My family is busy, so I leave them alone.
They have young children all over the place.
Did they call? An old guy asks me daily, hourly, every second.
I roll my eyes. He has never taken care of children. He does not get it.

Are they coming over this weekend? I ignore him.
It is tiring answering the same thing over and over and over.
They have plenty to do, I tell him. They do not have to entertain us.
Of course, it would be great to have someone to entertain him.

I need some attention he says.
He is a four-year-old living in a sixty-eight-year-old body.
Sorry, I think. I do not entertain old guys.
Never have.
Never will
Because I can entertain myself.

Words They Can Never Be Unspoken

Your words find their target and seek the destruction of all you profess to love.
Protection and numbness can be my only defense.
For I have young eyes watching my every emotion, seeking comfort and reassurance from my presence.
So I build walls to answer your questions walls to prevent the pain that accompanies your tongue.
Numbness to hide the decaying inside.
Like a beautiful flower that has been cruely poisoned, I too am dying from within.
My beauty and strength will eventually become nothing but a memory as the ugliness from the inside appears on the out.
You do not see the harm that you cause, maybe it's because of my walls and my calm facade, or maybe you are just willingly blind.
Does the release that you gain from inflicting your frustrations on me serve you better than the love that you found in my every affection?
To what ends I wonder, what road will I find myself on.
Will it be filled with your absolute regret at the damage you have caused, or maybe the dismissal that it was you who put the poison there. Will I find a new normal within numbness until I forget my vibrancy ever existed.
Words...
              they can never be unspoken

Who Are You

You too have young ones
to sweeten your ears
by their melodious chant “dear mom or dad”.
Does it gratify your supreme authority
to see them go without food for a day or two
before you spend to meet their needs?
Does your heart only melt
when they stand with their hands closed together
or knelt down at your feet?
No, you will say, “It’s all theirs what we have”.
Your heart pains to see them in pain
beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Then why you go on a hunger strike
to make God submit to your demands?
The philosophy of fasting
is good for health,
calls upon to self-discipline
and frees from bodily dependencies.
But the Father of all souls
urges his sweet children
to renounce their vices
and not a constant balanced diet.
Are you a beggar
standing before an idol
with your endless worldly desires
or a blissful soul, His sweetest child,
an heir to all His treasures, His love and powers?

Game of Life

Game of life

In this game of life
We have all types of players

We have young and old
We have men an women

We have kings and queens
We have tall and short

We have fat and skinny
We have shy and loud

We have rich
We have poor

Some work
Some don't

Some may have nice cars
Some may have old cars

Some may live in a mansion
Some may live in a box

Some may be poor
Some may be rich

Some may be American
Same may be African
Some may be Mexican
Some may be Italian

Some are white
Some are black
Some are brown
Some are red

we're all in this game of life together
So play how you choose
There is no winning
Or losing
Cause you won't get out of alive.

Premium MemberMy Mammogram

In the waiting room …
A sea of ashen faces
Women with their partners
We were waiting, just waiting
My name is called
Heart pounding I gather by belonging
My husband gets up …
But he’s told he can’t come in with me
I feel vulnerable and alone
In the little cubicle I undress and put a hospital cape on
Now its time for my mammogram
The machine clamps me tight with a vice like grip
Yes it Shrove Tuesday and is Pancake Day for my right breast!
Thankfully it’s all over very quickly
I sit alone in the waiting area
Waiting, just waiting
Try to do a puzzle but my mind is elsewhere
A door opens and my name is called
Now for the ultrasound
A blob of cooling gel, the scan is painless
Everything looks fine
They tell me I have ‘young breasts’ whatever that means!
Shame about the rest of me I quip and we laugh
Now I need to see the specialist to be examined
So it’s back to the waiting area
Waiting, just waiting
I get called into another room
Mmmm he’s very attractive with brown eyes and greying hair
But I digress!
A quick examination and everything is fine
This time my lump is tissue and is deemed to be benign

Mom Wouldn'T Have a Tomorrow

When people die too young, we never expect them to.
It happened to me and it could also happen to you.
Many people loved my mom because of her personality.
She was only 64, I wasn't prepared for Mom's mortality.
When we have young relatives, we don't expect to lose them.
We don't expect the young to die and when it happens, it is grim.
I was wrong when I thought that Mom had another ten to fifteen years.
I was mistaken and my heart was broken because she's no longer here.
Mom loved me and I loved her more than anybody else on the Earth.
When I learned that she would die, I truly learned what she was worth.
I did not realize that Mom wouldn't have a tomorrow.
When she died, I was consumed by pain and sorrow.
Even if your loved one is a child, he or she is somebody who you must treasure and appreciate.
Savor every moment that you have with your loved ones because tomorrow may be too late.

Mother

I need you Mother to hold me
To feed me and hold me tight.
I rely on you always to be there
And to be with me day and night.

Mother I wish you’d stop fussing
You always embarrass me
I know you mean well but I wish you would leave
And stop constantly pestering me.

Mother I hate you, how could you
Why are always so cruel
You think you know best, I wish you would leave
You’re treating me like a fool.

Mother I need you please call me
I now have young of my own
I realise how much you tried for me
I’m sorry, I wish I had known.

Mother I miss you, I’m sorry
My best friend from the start
You always loved and you always cared
You’ve left and you’ve broken my heart.

Wisdom of Faith

The world seemed dark and
barren
And with few words light came
raising greens to feed the earth.
A blind man who's eyes had
never seen the light sat on the
street
And with a plead of faith he
called, then with dirt placed
upon his face, his eyes meet the
world at once.
An old women who could never
have young prayed, as her tears
never fell on deaf ears.
And when faith seemed absurd,
a strong boy
she was given for
her faith would never fail her.

Thirteen Minutes With...

You gave us free will
But why nuclear devices?
Do you play games with our lives?
A score of one million to nil!!
Man we're up the creak
And we're not collecting spices
The media's killed the flavour
And here come the chopping knives.

What is our potential for the near future?
No one seems to care, is our time nearly up?
I don't think you have the bottle to be so abrupt!
Many of your representatives appear all too corrupt,
While you what, check up on our graces?
Why are we so dumb and ignorant and hung up on races?
Killing for oil and territorial spaces, while we're hypnotised
By what, white teeth on their evil smiling faces?

Do you take pride in what you have created?
We’re so grateful; your teachings are sidelined,
While the horned goat is consecrated,
They have young children idly worshiping the antithesis of 999,
So my one real question to you, my source...
Do you not feel that the evil must be purged...berated
Back into chaos, obscurity
Expelled by the light of divinity
A place for creativity to flourish, our children to be nourished?
Because into oblivion I sink...I see no serenity.

Our Country

Looking around our world today
Its war, sadness and coldness i see,
Knowing inside that something is wrong
For this isn't how our life should be.

We have young people dying in war
So much hatred causing us to fight,
Innocent people getting caught in the middle
Have we all forgotten this isn't right.

There's people going around hungry
Gas prices so high we can't even drive,
People out committing many crimes now
Thinking its the only way to survive.

Our country is forgetting its own people
For all we stood for has been taken away,
We no longer think of the red, white and blue
Its now only what our country refuses to do.

Now its time for a new president again
They are counting on us to cast a vote,
Its quite sad if you take time to think
They need our help otherwise we're a joke.

America is now in great danger
Who do we have on our side,
Sad but true there is nobody
We've lost even our right to decide.
