Premium Memberwho lived in this place

the whispers were barely perceptible
there was scuffling and shuffling
were ghosts up here then?
I took a peek expecting to see people

there was a steampunk like robot facing the door
his eyes were made of hubcaps and he had coils for legs
who made this? And when? It was curious to me.
I halfway expected this robot to move.

there was a brocade tapestry hanging behind the robot.
dark in color, scarlet or deep forest green, impossible to say.
the threads could have been gold.
Wait, it might have been an old velvet crazy quilt.

The darkness of the room hampered me getting it right.
I saw a hobby horse, leaning against a two-seated couch.
One of those crazy ones where you faced each other.
Who lived in this place? I was thinking Jules Verne.

Or Poe. Or a Victorian miscreant. This is a strange place.
a creepy place. there was a stuffed raven in the corner.
With yellow glass eyes.
Definitely Poe.

Premium MemberEffort and Time

Like Moses in the desert, I have wandered.
My destination nowhere in my sight.
I’m searching for the joy I have been promised
But hampered by the seeming lack of light.
Like Icarus of old, I am a pris’ner.
I’m chained here to the ground by gravity,
And haunted by the things I can’t accomplish,
The dreams of places I will never be.

Like Samson, I’ve felt utterly defeated.
It’s hard to trust that there’s a higher plan.
I fear giving in to mediocrity.
That where I’ll always be is where I am.
Like Hercules, I’ve had my many labors.
I’ve known my share of failure and success.
So many tests still waiting in my future,
And many miles to go before I rest.

Like everybody else, I have been wounded,
But deep down I am proud of every scar.
For each one tells me I am making progress
Although it seems I haven’t traveled far…

	But there’s nothing else to do but move forward, step by step.
	So, hand over hand I will climb.
	I know it’s true that I may never reach my horizon
	But I can leave where I am behind.
	All it takes is effort and some time.

Premium MemberYou're on my mind

Written: June 5th, 2024, For Jay Narain Contest

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your smile awestruck me every morning,
Truly ambrosian and quiddity display style.
Your ariose image is rife in my dreams,
As optimism rises, I wake up with beams.
You could be the one, I didn't love enough,
There was a juncture in, I treated you rough.
Girl, if I beshrew you feel odious, I was blind,
If I crestfallen you, you're often on my mind.
You induce me to dare my worries and fears,
I will support you in your anguish and tears.
All I sense for you is beyond what I may show,
You are precious to me; I wish that you know.
I didn't descry you those lonesome times,
It is a delight to have you; you are sublime.
My thoughts of you hampered my tries to rest,
The warmth of your kindness swells my chest.
Whatever transpires, I will be devout to you,
My briny goal is always you, and I will pursue.
Allow me to win your quintessence one final time,
I often relate to you; I've never had time to dime.
Freedom
Freedom, freedom, where are you?
Let my action be of choice and have the absence of necessity to liberate my mind from slavery.
Produce the quality of good state in me.
Freedom, freedom, where are you?
Give me a home with ease and produce the quality of being free from care.
Freedom, freedom, where are you?
Produce words of openness and outspokenness without improper familiarities.
Help me be bold and to act without compulsion.
Help me to apply a total absence of restraint to not be hampered or frustrated.
Produce the impossible to help my body jump off the frame and land in my wild imagination.
Help me transcend the laws of basic physics, to hop around in time and space and to skip from one dimension to the next.
Freedom, freedom, where are you?
Help me to have choice and to hop from dimension to dimension.
Liberate me from restraint or compulsion.
Help me to have my blood hum with a hint of you.
Free me from myself and set my soul on fire
Old Dusties
Put 'em down and o'er to the side
In them, your feet can no longer reside
Old, hampered, and worn out are these dusties
You wash 'em constantly but they're still stale and musty
Old dusties just don't look good any more...
So dusty, and the soles you deplore
Old dusties just don't feel good...
Got you walking hunched over and looking misunderstood
Old dusties don't even wear well...
But you're walking in a new direction with a new story to tell
So put 'em down and o'er to the side and out the way
You have a new and it's time to walk in anew with no delay
Premium MemberWisdom and Compassion
heart is its own enemy when pursuing truth,
it is hampered by compassion and wily doubt,
adapts the events to suit its own narrative,
in its journey from birth to its final last beat,
cannot tell the thief from the saviour and the saint,
wisdom may know, but the heart lives and dies a child!
Sheeba Trip
awaken in the vine
casting lot for a pick
for a gracious luck
scattered on spiky pines
of roses, of tulip, and of more
pick a lock of hearts
of deuces stack
shuffling decks of paltry picks
when only aces counts
piece by piece
settling in for the race
a stag in a horse race
hampered and broken
an adventure of cascading dreams..
Premium MemberIgnoring Schism
The schism is forgotten on this day.
Our insanity is hurried by the sun's sway.
We stroll on the rocks without a coast.
Clouds hurriedly come into view impost.
When it rains, it soaks up onto the sidewalk.
Passion is what gives us the capacity to talk.
Our emotions are hampered by your ooze.
We'll be way up that hill while you snooze.
My 2023 Prediction
With a lot in life tampered,
With as much in it hampered;
For it there’s a recorder,
For in life, here, there’s order
2023
And it seems folks would be free,
I mean: crazily so free
As to  attack a close tree:
More intake of cannabies,
Guys barking you’d think Rabies,
A man seize by the collar,
Because one saw his dollar;
Refusal to release “sorry”,
Yet one heard the pillory,
Open requests for secret fun
And, there, wanting the act done…
Litigants in a hurry
To with judge favour curry,
U.S. still leading peace talks,
On Earth more unsafe night walks:
Not much in my Nigeria:
Some steps away from The Rear,…
Happily in Africa
More released second-hand car:
A new wish to keep my beard
Matching the New Trends stark weird.
Patriarchal Muslim Men
Some Muslim men believe in women's rights
In a peculiar way,
They put their gender interests first, and
find some Quranic verse to justify it.
And then their interest in the subject
grinds to a halt.
They think that women are “weaker sex”
and they must do the thinking for them.
Their supremacy is inked by dogma
perpetuating the status quo.
Bottom line, they cannot make the women's cause
their own, hampered by ideology, in permanent warfare
with equal rights.
The women's question: It does not perplex their intuition.
Hindu Anarchy Coming To India: Canto Ii- Two States Begin Fighting
Which is the easiest way to make two
Indian states to fight?
One is to throw power, language, water-
Issues on their face.
So you’ll have got two Dravid states
Fighting eternally,
O’er slight and petite things for decades
Meaningless, mundane,
So that your Aryan Empire in the
North will have its way
Of flourishing and bringing in caste and
Sect-bred troops set free.
Not one but multiple such issues
Let loose on the south
On the twin sister-states of Tamil Nadu
And Kerala have worn
Out sistership, brotherhood and good-
Will among these two
Peoples, and eroded their history
Of a common past.
Mullapperiyar Dam Water Issue,
Imposing Hindi,
And Koodankülam Atomic Power
Plants are but a few,
Devised by central government to
Keep them warring on
And smoth’ring each other instead of
Pooling their resources.
We will examine each and weigh how
Hampered they progress,
Before we’re onto the treachery of the
Telengana State.
Premium MemberMy Flight
MY  FLIGHT
        Wish to fly free on frolic fervent flight
        spreading flapping pair of wings, mind and brain.
        Trouble to navigate as wings do fight.
        Soul in confusion facing stress and strain.
       Mind offering dormant desires to drink.
       Wish to fly free on frolic fervent flight.
       Analytic brain trying to judge and to link.
       Soul unable to decide wrong or right.
       Mind and brain  in conflict: Relation tight.
       Stubborn soul wobbles which wing to pamper!
       Wish to fly free on frolic fervent flight.
       Can’t propel proper, flight getting hampered.
       Two wings agree to choose same path hardly.
       Which direction to exhibit bright light!
       Brain and mind are opponents, not friendly.
       Wish to fly free on frolic fervent flight.
Premium MemberSpring Is Blooming
The birds are singing merrily.
The sun is burning off the fog.
Somewhere nearby, I hear a frog,
Oh wait, I think that might be me.
Sometimes it’s pretty hard to tell;
I’m guessing spring has now arrived.
The senses just feel less alive
With hampered hearing, stifled smell.
I know the telltale sign so well,
So I will not believe those lies.
For I can look with my own eyes:
The redbuds have begun to swell.
So I will suffer spring’s embrace.
A mixed bag, for I love these trees
Which coincide with snot-filled sneeze,
For there is beauty in this place.
