Death walks slowly down the street
with the hood pulled way down low
ain't no sound no not even his feet
his hourglass ready to go
are you ready hey are you ready for this
are you sitting on the edge of your seat
out of the doorway the soul-scythe rips
the end prepare to meet yeah
'bomp' 'bomp' 'bomp'
another goes to the dogs
'bomp' 'bomp' 'bomp'
another falls off his log
and another one gone and another one gone
another one down the bogs
hey I'm gonna get you too
another one pops his clogs
With apologies to Freddie Mercury (1946 – 1991) & Queen

The grim reaper eyes glow
as the god you pray to.
Fear tickles my feet as
I sink into his arms. I feel
at home.
The Scythe sings a song of
demise, so now I open my
mouth and close my eyes.
The imagery has appeared,
a dark cloud of saddness
is here.
My eyes cry black liquid
as my mouth cries for help.
I've left without knowing,
as my life is without help.
The sound of piercing flesh
in the abyss, I came
here so I wouldn't be missed.

My skin has become like sandpaper
Blotches showing up everywhere
A pimple resides at the end of my nose
Some areas have unwanted hair
What 's happening to this body of mine
Seems it's just about falling apart
Ankles are swollen to twice their size
Been expelling a whole lot of farts
It's referred to as the ageing process
Is this what's in store from now on
No more of this sleeping to noon
Always up at the crack of dawn
Needing to pee three times a night
My back teeth are floating around
Cramps in my legs are driving me nuts
And my PJs keep falling down
A hell of a mess this ageing process
Not a damn thing a person can do
Hang in there my friends, it won't be long
The grim reaper will be calling you soon!

With an oar and a long boat
Down river goes the deal maker,
Ferrying another soul afloat
... For I am their taker ...
Black cloak 'round my shoulder
Two coins in my bony hand,
I bring the younger or older
Off to a more distant land
Paddling waters, still and gray
Done a million times or more,
Candle and lantern to light my way
Back and forth to each shore
My fee is due on your funeral day
Not long after a warm body dies,
So your spirit will not have to pay
May someone lay them on your eyes
'Tis no easy, nor grim task ...
For two thin coins of solid gold,
Death wears no ghoulish mask
Draped in peaceful shrouds of olde
Entrust unto me, the so-called reaper
Sent on down here by your maker,
Fear not me ... a gate keeper
This olde ferryman ... the taker.

Dear Breath, will you truly forsake me?
Dearest Death, will you be kind to me?
My favourite Life, are you satisfied?
My quintessential self, do you truly possess this demeanour?
Temporary happiness is always godlike bliss,
Permanence is a dutiful curse.
The more I look for profound beauty,
The more I go far away from my salient appetite.
Karma never forgives anyone,
Building a church on my altar,
Building a cage that cannot be broken,
Inside that, I will be stuck for the time being.
The Grim Reaper calls my name just once,
The fragile cage cannot keep me safe.
The perfect Advisor is never going to fulfill me,
Until I admit, I want to be someone under His command!
Dearest Death, is the Grim Reaper your valet?
Dear Breath, did you come to rescue me?
Or was it just another pretence?
My sweetest Soul, are you really mine, or will you just fly away at another time?

He lurked in the corner of the shadows below
Waiting patiently for his victim, a guy who moved quite slow
Jim had a feeling, so he dragged his feet a bit
When the Grim Reaper grabbed him, he threw a tiny fit
You know it’s your time, the Grim Reaper said to him.
His voice was serious, which sobered the guy named Jim.
He pleaded, could have another week or two?
The Grim Reaper said “no, I have come to claim you.”

Unwanted visitor knocks at the door
Unwilling my feet that pace the floor
Wanting but not finding the patience of the brave
Peeking around surroundings for what would save
A ghost is still living in a haunted house
The heart slowly answers the would be shout
My after life still fears the nearing calls
Afraid of the souls quite possible fall
Why should I fear my memory ask?
When life and living have completed task
Where shall I wonder after the fall?
Why am I worried when I answered the call
Why wonder the fears that creep
When the lose of this body a new soul seeks
Why wait any longer in this defiled self
When newness awaits it’s promised health
Worry not, says the preceding crowd
Seek not worries that are very loud
Accept the calling coming from the clouds
The narrow path that souls have paved
Parents and grands where temples stayed
Tempt not the life that was laid
Who was the first before you raised
So maybe you wont see the End of Days
Suffer just a little and let God be praised

A candle is lit in a small dark cave,
Upon these walls shadows in EDM rave,
Flickering flame kiss cool, damp ambience,
Small Sparks fly up igniting silhouette.
Laughter, sinful pleasure in danger grave,
Misplaced desires, in handcuffs and enslave,
Whispers deafening, instantaneous,
Extorted dancers to owe reaper’s grim debt.
These foolish shadows thinking they are brave,
Little is known in darkness as a slave,
Engulfed within candle lit dalliance,
Think he could not see, dangerous roulette.
Unholy scythe swings, it is time to shave,
Candle flame smolders, they all misbehave,
Death is the inevitable transience,
Caught under their trance unknown t’was a threat.

grumpy grumbling grungy gregarious gremlin Greggory
gratefully grasped grainy grandma’s green grapes in glee
greathearted Gretchen greeted greenhorn grim-reaper with gee
grinning, groovy, grown grandson growled among grimy greenery
grandiose grim-reaper granted gratuities and graves gracefully,
grubby? Gruesome? Graphic? Gruff too Grandparents greedily agree.
gruff, gripping, grotesque, gratifying gravestones, grandiose in glee
grumpy grumbling grungy gregarious gremlin Gregg no longer will be.

Old Bones
Now listen while I tell you of a fella that you’ll meet,
Who is older still than even time could be.
His grin is kinda big and kinda straight and kinda white -
Kinda threatening – a mite unsavoury.
When it comes your time to meet him, it’ll only be the once ;
You will never ever get another chance.
He will meet you sorta quickly and there won’t be time to chat -
He’ll go by and won't give you a second glance.
He meets everyone eventually, no matter how they dodge.
There just ain't no evading that old grin.
Prince or pauper, nice or nasty, makes no difference anyhow,
Be you virtuous or live a life of sin.
So if one day you see him and you think his timing's out,
Don't kick up a fuss or sing a sorry song.
It’s a fact that when your time’s up he'll come beckoning to you:
Old Bones is never even slightly wrong.

Grim Reaper Cherub has a feeling of power for sure
She wields her scythe and keeps her deadly mind pure.
We see her on the swing, and we wonder if she will lure.
Others to their death, and if so, is there a cure?
Grim Reaper Cherub enjoys the swing so fine.
Others want to cut in, but she says, “No. This is mine!”
I watch as she draws with her left foot a line.
Cross over that, and you will be full of sad whine!
Grim Reaper Cherub is rapidly circled by others.
Some of them are my aunts, uncles, cousins and brothers.
They are soon joined by great-grandfathers and grandmothers.
Who in their bed that night hide under their shivering covers.
Grim Reaper Cherub is not often seen.
He always appears each year on eve of Halloween.
We see him showing out, his eyes are incredibly green.
An offspring of Frankenstein, but he is not ever mean.

No sooner had the melodious rhythm stuck with the ears than the drums went silent
Grim Reaper couldn't hide her temperament
She snatched you secretly to her abode
I say secretly because no one heard her footsteps
Let alone know the route both of you took
When the news broke , we tried to mend it
But we couldn't find its pieces
Our hearts lost peace
For a peaceful one had bitten the dust
I couldn't fathom how Life could delete your name from its cast
But that wind of inevitability spoke to me in a silent world
You are gone, but you remain a relic in our missive
So I speak and write words of panegyric through a necromancer ,
Let me know when you receive my message

When poetic lines are no more, than sharpened knives
Where the words splice into, as destroying others lives
Wrists cut; and then left to bleed, within a bloody bath
But, where words still rhyme on having their last laugh
He falls asleep never to awake, a bottle of pills in hand
This poetic grim reaper hums a lullaby, he understands
He is feeding off your lack of self worth, it's his payday
Collecting the dollars; with every poor soul he can slay
Your weakness has never been his problem, only yours
Self esteem needed here, it is the only thing that cures
Avoid, poetic snake like words, entering into your head
Next he'll be sleeping besides you, whilst you lie in bed
When morning comes you will find that all hope is gone
And to the reality, some one else took your life to pawn
And that he did this by luring you with his poetic words
A innocent mind is not a blessing, but, a learning curve
When one learns to do onto others as they do onto you
Surviving writing poetic words such as I have had to do
