The tapered blade glinted in the fast fading moonlight
It slipped so easy between the ribs on this, another murderous night
Swiftly the body was denuded of all his earthly goods
As the bladed murderer slipped off, into the nearby darkening woods.
The tapered blade reappeared two nights from that deed
No one took notice, the warnings they did not heed
The blade did flash the body fell, gurgling sounds did rise
As the body crumpled the life blood gone, twas no real surprise.
A vigilante, they declared, was on the prowl at night
Two evil men had been attacked and given more than just a fright
The death toll rose week by week, but none could tell the tale
The man with the tapered blade, not once his deadly blade did fail.
The bloody murderer with the blade came to a crossroads in his life
He stood between three roads marked Hope, Despair and Strife
Onto his knees he fell, he prayed and asked “Which road do I take?”
I have done your bidding Lord; help me my choice to make.
Looking down from heaven on high the Lord was angered so
“I never told you to act as judge and everyone will know.
Behind you a fourth road is opening this one is called Retribution.
Take that one if you dare I say, but expect no absolution.”
The murderous vigilante, his thanks did express in supplication
He took the given road, not realising this act was in its self the causation
Of the opening of a doorway where stood the Reaper with his scythe
As the curved blade came down, he watched his victim writhe.
The Grim reaper did smile his daily task he did so enjoy
To be given a soul to keep, would keep his devils in happy employ
So if you take the path-the one marked retribution
Remember at the end of it may not be the hoped for or best solution.

I went in not feeling much excitement.
Further into the cave I did venture.
Claustrophobia robs my enjoyment
As I began my scary adventure;
Far from ideal stroll out in nature.
I vowed "I'm done being a thrill seeker!"
As I trailed other spelunkers deeper...
Into the cave afraid it might cave in!
Luckily, I didn't meet the grim reaper!
Try again? Now that's a cardinal sin!

From the house of the dead it came
with long spindly toes and crooked nose.
It stood on its hind legs
to a height of eight feet
on knobby knees against the breeze.
“Why are you here? What’s the reason?”
Such a shrill screech did it release!
It held hourglass and scythe
in its sinuous claws.
It gave me fright to view that sight.
It glanced at the house of the dead
as sadness overcame it like shame.
Its demeanor austere.
It fell silent at the
far sound of a merry-go-round.
To the house of the dead it turned
before I learned why it adjourned.
Still I remember it –
my final encounter –
with dread from the house of the dead.
Rapturousness wrought Unitarian
transformational spiritual rapport
traversing thru space/time
continuum appending increasing
chronological orbitz as an Earthling,
frivolously did cavort,
who (with ever more energy)
required exhaustively to sport
fretfully clinging to each moment
after downing a quart of port
poured by Norwegian bachelor
farmers of Lake Woebegone amort
admirable administrators in
conjunction with last rites opport,
who knit tee necessitates
intercession of a Holy Vintner import
tint so ill fated mortal, (who met
their demise) gets special escort
delivered with utmost diligence as
if destined to Mar-Lago resort
accompanied with trumpeting
"NON FAKE" grim reaper cohort,
the grateful dead black hooded
bone a fied scythe swinging bro
cracking gallows humor comport
to perk spirits of deceased, a
generic, nondescript, uber fort
tuff hide will never need a passport
after coursing into the afterlife
way beyond the outer limits of fort
hit who'd, yup even light years from
twilight zone, this dimension in short
to require an eternity to reach,
hence body stiffened by rigor mortis
securely strapped into davenport
essentially a coffin tricked out by Norte
American latest technological gizmos,
an eclectic assortment recycled, reimagined,
repurposed, paraphernalia to Voldemort,
thus one cold body helping contribute to MAGA!
The best way to tell if you're still alive
Is to breathe on a window pane
If the window suddenly starts to fog up
You're alive but its iffy all the same
Shouldn't have to use this old time method
Normally you really should know
To help your loved ones feel more at ease
You should move every hour or so
They really get worried and start to fret
If you haven't moved for days
Think the grim reaper had stolen you away
A silly game at times you play
So smile damn it, your face won't crack
It's made to show happy and stuff
Life could definitely be a whole lot worse
If they find you outside in the buff

You're never gonna see me in the corner
As if I were afraid of my own shadow.
The Shadow of Death is in the corner,
Although the Grim Reaper is not looking so grim.
He is not dressed in a black robe,
Nor is there a scythe to be seen.
He is a rather dapper looking gent:
Suit, tie, shined-up shoes, gold ring and Gatsby hat,
Leaning nonchalantly on a dark wood cane that is topped
With a figural not unlike a silver cross.
I am not afraid,
I have set God
as a seal upon
my heart.
His love
is stronger than death.
Note: When my younger brother was four years old he would go to work with our mother. She was a registered nurse and worked in a nursing home. My brother would visit with the old folks while Mom worked.
One day while at work with Mom he met the Angel of Death as described above and was not afraid. The Angel talked with him and told him he was there for one of the residents, and a few days later that person passed away.

The Grim Reaper calls; I invite him in with a smile
Halloween night, everyone’s wearing creepy costumes
Eerie figures are dancing round my bubbling cauldron
Guessing who is wearing each costume is difficult
Realistic blood drips down the fangs of one vampire!
I'm so impressed all my friends have made such an effort
Mummies, witches, ghosts and zombies are having such fun
Right on the stroke of midnight there’s a spine-chilling scream
Everyone bursts out laughing ... then we find a body
All eyes turn and see the Grim Reaper’s bloody scythe
Petrified party guests slink back into the shadows
Everyone removes their masks, all except one figure
Realisation dawns… The Grim Reaper was real!

the Virus from Hell is amused
the Virus from Hell is amused
laughing at the world’s panicked reaction
as it marches through the world unabated
infecting everyone in its wake
as the world awaits its fate
the virus smiles he ain’t no fake
he is the real deal
he is death itself
he is the end of the world
the grim reaper is smiling
god is silent as usual
and the virus is the world’s worst nightmare
the world’s leaders dither and dather
as the economy craters
everyone hoping that God will save them
the virus does not care
insults and orders do not work
the virus simply does its virus thing
infecting everyone it encounters
and thousands will die
equal opportunity offender
killing the rich and the poor alike
the virus smiles
the virus's work is done
and mankind is doomed
so be it the virus thinks
that is the way of the world
and the virus is the new king
of the world
toward thee spunky gal,
whose impregnation and debut appearance
way to brief a tale for Aesop
cuz, (umpteen iterations recounted),
out the birth canal aye did bop
analogously compared
to a mealy mouthed measly crop
a spindly tangle of arms and legs
radiated (starfish like)
dangled and would uselessly drop
like a raggedy ann male counterpart
(raggedy andy - how original)
with limbs that didst flop
and tis no small wonder, thyself as one
newborn baby body electric
easily confused with bony glop,
which skimpy weight
leant convenience as sigh grew older
to alternate jumping
(ala pogo stick mode) and hop
from one skinny spindle shank leg to another,
and manifold orbitz whip
sawing round the sun
bore witness to puny laughable specimen
of a nerdy lad, who (in hindsight)
grew long straggly hair,
which NO ONE (except me) could touch,
nor most definitely NOT lop
off (this fetish) compensation
for very slight physique
in dewed time begot
pencil necked geek milksop,
now at an age prowl lix sing viz
dragging, crawling, battling...
slight abdominal bulge
unlike widower octogenarian biological pop
whose once strapping superman
like build atrophying (sad sight)
since grim reaper put objectionable stop
upon head of harriet harris,
whereat two and a half score years
her longevity did top.

now, comb may tooth how zen,
sans eight plus ten
'twill be thirteen yars
when me late mum agonizingly relinquished
an indomitable loo ving life,
which strong fighting spirit
(spittle and vinegar) yen
reached a juncture,
(sans metastasized ovarian cancer)
forewent heroic measures, which ken
not avail bottled anger within this sole son
telling thee, he didst love ye
never communicating NOR often!
My skin has become like sandpaper
Blotches showing up everywhere
A pimple resides at the end of my nose
Some areas have unwanted hair
What 's happening to this body of mine
Seems it's just about falling apart
Ankles are swollen to twice their size
Been expelling a whole lot of farts
It's referred to as the ageing process
Is this what's in store from now on
No more of this sleeping to noon
Always up at the crack of dawn
Needing to pee three times a night
My back teeth are floating around
Cramps in my legs are driving me nuts
And my PJs keep falling down
A hell of a mess this ageing process
Not a damn thing a person can do
Hang in there my friends, it won't be long
The grim reaper will be calling you soon!
