As I get older
And as I amble and imbibe
The wafting of the aroma of roses
And as I get older
I still rock (just not in a chair)
And I roll with the lingo
Of the younger generation
I think things are sick
I try not to throw shade
I think somethings are fire
I am stupidly blessed
(and I say in my Hampton Orphanage drawl)
One hundred percent
As I get older
I find (as Ben Franklin confessed)
That the God of Heaven
Governs the affairs of mankind
The good, the bad and the ugly
And as I get older
(I said older not old)
I am a work in progress
According to the Lord
And as I head to
The autumn of my life
(The words of my Army buddy
And amateur sage Jack
Echo in my mind)
"People say
I am in my own little world,
That's ok,
at least everyone knows me there."

Good health is expensive

In the market of choices, we're faced with a test,
Between health and affordability, which one to invest?
Fresh fruits and greens, a pricey delight,
While processed snacks and sweets, shine with cheaper light.

The junk food aisles, a treasure to behold,
Cheap and tempting treats, that our taste buds are told.
But at what cost, dear health, do we indulge and play,
Trading wellness for pennies, in a harmful, tasty way?

The irony of economics, that governs our plate,
Where healthy choices are costly, and junk food is first-rate.
But let's not be fooled, by the price tag's disguise,
For good health is worth every penny, and a wise, lifelong surprise.

So let's invest in our well-being, and make a conscious choice,
To prioritize our health, and rejoice in a wholesome voice.
For though it may seem pricey, the cost of healthy living is true,
A valuable investment, in a life that's vibrant, and anew.

That Day Will Come

There comes that day, inevitable day
when God will have had enough.
When His promises, humans overstay
hence, He will have his rebuff.

God's covenants come with a consequence
as we humans play the fool.
His forgiveness appraises disobedience;
and He governs with sovereign rule.

Is it selfish to pray, "Lord, Jesus, come
to take your children home"?
Such brings the destruction of earth's kingdom;
yet shall tribulation convert some?

Away with the pretense of our praise;
God knows the song of our hearts,
His justice rolls as the rivers raise,
judgment will stream as His Spirit departs.

Premium MemberMEMORABLE BALLET

submitted into Brian Strands 1397 Poetry Contest, July 2025

MEMORABLE BALLET
her thoughts pirouette, twirl, and spin,
a choreographed ballet across the blank screen.

her words harmonize and blend
     transforming them into beautiful poetry.

her soaring imagination rises and leaps
like a grand jeté, the poem takes flight.

imagery and rhythm create a melodic verse
like well-orchestrated music, her poetry fills the air.

meter is the measure that governs the pace,
as her passion finds her poetic voice.

in a delicate dance of love and creativity
like a pas de deux, the words entwine.

a crescendo of emotions her heart doth express
like a grand finale, the poem reaches its peak.

her soul dances wild and free
like a memorable ballet is her poetry.

Premium MemberThe weather found

Born yonder east flickering behind the rolling sky.
Majestic birth of light governs wonders for new and old eyes.

Though northern winds crash and whistle around walking legs under hooded collar of wet yet thick, warm, heavy coat.
Screwed up eyes know light shines bright between the lines of driving rain causing splash on tarmac roads.

Heavy sway of branch and leaf rustling all around. Faced down onwards walk - no run as pointless now the weather found.

Premium MemberDivision

God Proper
is pure Light and
Love –

as long as
man declares division,
governs by lesser-ego,
setting God apart
from himself – then,
God divided
manifests presence
as opposing elements
of positive and negative
charges –

(however, magnetic attraction
will always be present
regardless – a universal constant)

then, best attempt at harmony~
would be, balance by way
of managed distance --

whether man is aware
or not,
creation is always one
with its creator, all substance
varying degrees of divine consciousness – Universal
mind)

man using divisive nature, at the same
time thinking himself separate~ appendages
of imagined individuality while on an indivisible
body of Universal Presence – actual division is
illusion of consciousness – it only exists
mentally --

when man accepts
Christ-consciousness --
closer he moves
toward sentient association
with his indwelling divinity --

Acquiescence to
Christ’s lead does not manifest as loss of
volition...but, to the contrary, such surrender
becomes gateway for heightened personification
of Kinship with The Father Godhead --

Premium MemberSpring Rain

The dark sky stretches across the heights.
Overcast clouds roam, late at night.
The round moon does not reveal its rays.
The snow on the peaks may melt away.

In the morning, the sparrows fly joyfully,
Plucking flowers and perching in the trees.
A pair of wild doves appears sad and silent,
While blackbirds search for worms with talent.

Spring flowers bloom along the front fence,
Like a group of teenagers practicing a dance,
Watching the rain play in the new season.
The small leaves will take turns next month.

The spring blends both sad and happy
It is a rule that governs human society
There is a desire for couples to despise
Thus, we all change from time to time

Greed governs some love

Humans, long a self-seeking breed,
Oft concoct love foreseeing need.
With tender grass lush green
Does a butcher fatten
His sheep in his own selfish greed.

Translation |37.01.2025|
Poet’s note: Sanskrit has thousands of verses of wisdom called Subhashhitam. This verse says that man by nature is a self-seeking breed. Keeping in mind a selfish motive, a butcher concocts false love and fattens his sheep with tender grass. But it is only to fetch better price in the market, not for any altruistic love. The transliteration of the Sanskrit verse follows (sandhi duly separated):

Kaarya-apekshee janah praayah,
preetim aavishkaroti alam |
Lobha-arthee shaundikah shashpaih,
mesham pushnaati peshalaih ||204||

Premium MemberGerrymandering

Gather the maps, divide the lines with care,
Every decade brings new charts to trace,
Remember how the shifting votes displace,
Right to select who governs, free and fair.

Yet borders twist, reform beyond compare,
Moving in silence, shaping every place.
At times, it seems a never-ending race,
New rules decide which voices have to bear.

Districts are carved to strengthen or to break,
Elections bend beneath the subtle hand.
Rare is the claim of justice clear and bright,

In corridors where shadows often wake,
Not by the will of people do they stand,
Gaming the seats, they steal away our right.

The Lord Lights my Lamp

When the dismal darkness of the deceivers' camp
overwhelms and I have deserted the way,
a harsh winter of doubt governs cold and damp.
When conniving, selfish men parade and prey,
despair grips me tight with disapproval's stamp.
My candle is dimmed down inviting their waylay.
My deafened ears cannot hear the Lord's voice;
my blinded eyes are quick to make the wrong choce.

Sapped, my faith still knows only God can revamp.
Obedience first, I have learned I must pray
asking forgiveness for letting Satan cramp
my trust which I confess I let go astray.
Springtime returns as the Lord re-lights my lamp
with the dawn of redemption on this new day.
Wisdom and strength restored, I can now rejoice
surrounded by the Lord’s peace and heaven's joys.

Premium MemberTRUTH STANDS ALONE

No mystery here.
I’ll speak the truth,
Whatever that truth may be.
Some say truth is relative.
How can that be the case?
What’s relative is our personal slant
Seen through a particular shade.
Truth stands alone.
It doesn’t change.

"Truth is like a lion.
You don't have to defend it.
Let it loose...
It will defend Itself."

Facts can’t be manipulated.
Beneath all structures
The Matrix stands unmoved.
It can’t be annihilated.
Consciousness governs the essence
Of life and is what keeps it spinning.
Everything else, we hang upon
Its structures and accept in acquiescence.

Not truth, but conjecture,
Projection for personal gain.
The Truth is much more beautiful
Than we could ever imagine.
It smiles at our naiveté
And continues to hold
The universe together.

Premium MemberPRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HIS HELP AGAINST OUR WOES

August 24 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Jeremiah 45-47

Key Verse – Jeremiah 45:3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HIS HELP AGAINST OUR WOES

Praise be to God for helping us in our woes since He:
Grants us His grace midst our guilt
Gives us His goodness along our griefs
Guides us with His gentleness and gladness
Governs us by His grandeur always guarding
Girds us upon His generosity against our greed

Jeremiah 46:28 Praise be to the Lord for
correcting us by:
Smiting our pride
Seeking our praise
Showing our poverty
Shaping our personality
Subduing our perversion

Jeremiah 47:4 Praise be to the Saviour for
shielding us against spoilage to:
Deliver us from destructive disaster
Direct us toward determined decision
Draw us to Him by His delightful defense
Drive us away from discouraging distraction
Declare to us His distinctives on which we depend. Amen!

   Laying the ground in Gaza
     for a humanitarian pier
   attacked by terrorist explosives today
though the world does not find that weird…

For it’s ‘normal’ for Hamas, which governs the Gazans
to deny them basic human needs ~
leaving to Israel (and the USA) millions of

Here's some verse for Monika Smit, shes took the very worst
Faced every hit, got put in jail, on false covid charges'
She was paid out damages, though they lied their hardest!
Facist? communist.? Whats the worst they can make of it'
Slavery by any name' Victoria governs with it all the same..
The coppers followed dingos like..Sold their own grandmothers
(What are they like?) Strutting round like in the 1800s
The peoples enemy, yet with now dwindling numbers
They're covered by the judges cruel, who'll bend and alter
Any rule, the top is twisted, now the whole state knows
Which is spreading, like a bushfire how the country glows
The heat is on, where can they turn? Maybe they will feel
Some rope applied burns? Get dragged those thirty maybe
Forty yards? cause times a wearing, and they're down on
Their cards.' The tables are turning, wheels are now in motion
A nation is rising.' They're rejecting false notions, many sins
Are in blossom, and blood cries out, from the graves of
The victims, We hear the shouts' God is observant He is
Keeping a count ' their days are shortening there is no doubt!
