Give It A Whirl Poems | Examples

My phone is my connection to the world
   All my friends text me
   Every single day
Influencers tell me what to think, do, and say
Everyone I admire is here with one click
   Movies are at my fingertips
From the time I wake up
   Until late at night
   I'm glued to my phone
   Oh what a sight
Momma says," Put away your phone.
                         You're missing out!"
   How can that be
I can see every music video
   Medication for when I'm sick
   Even clothes to wear
   Thats pretty slick
   If I have a question
My phone will second guess me
Sends information from across the web
Matches my browsing while I am in bed
Momma says," The influencers are instigators and don't let you think.
                         All the text messages
                         Are repeats and stink.
If you want to see the world,
Give it a whirl without your phone.
                         You might be surprised,
                          At what you will find!"

Attention of the Center

I want to be God
Just as I was meant
I wanna be loved
In and out of the tent
I want to be praised
All throughout the world
Want to be adored
By the loveliest girl
And just as the world
Will come to its end,
I want it to be said,
“He was better than men.”

I want to be God
The kind in the book
You’ve perused His name
You’ve heard how it took
I want to go back
To 1247
‘Cause in my estimation,
That was close to Heaven
But Heaven exists
On the top of a pearl
Let’s abandon this thing —
Let’s give it a whirl —

I want to be God
The instiller of fear
Oh won’t that be sweet
To be held so dear
So deep in the pavement
Beneath human feet
The killer of traffic
The idol of meek
I’ll creep and I’ll crawl
Like a certain snake
There’ll be no limit
To the abuse I can take

So God is a question
And God is a snack
God sits on a throne
In a Missouri shack
God does his business
And wipes with his hands
The squalor of reason
Is what God understands
You’ll see the difference
All throughout the land:
The inglorious servant
Will one day gain command

Premium Member I Got a Stupid Clipper Ship

I inherited a worn out clipper which made me mad.
For the rest of the cousins got riches, big and bad.
One got emeralds, another got diamond rings.
I got a clipper ship, without the pirate loot of kings.

Give it a whirl around the cape, my faerie godfather said.
He is a crazy old coot, eccentric, not quite right in the head.
Now what do you think, isn’t this a bit of fun now honey?
It surely was! My clipper ship was magic, and manifested money!

Two Together

A cold heart left you weak
But a warm one filled the soul
Have not you heard these words
I love you more

Clasp not unto the unknown
But capture this soul
Reap not one teardrop
I promise, I will make you whole

Fear not the past for it is lost
The present and future are one
Blend unto me and we will hold
Our lives together forever more

"I have no clue if this is right, but I thought I'd give it a whirl, lol"

Premium Member Life's a Grabber

Life's a grabber, ain't it?
With all of its up and downs
Never know what's in store
Best to just be a clown!

Whatever life hurls at you
Just laugh and giggle away
Time to worry tomorrow
Tomorrow's another day!

This is my own philosophy
Won't work for everyone
Give it a whirl, let it go
Kick it up, have some fun!

Life will be long and happy
With sunshine every day
Don't worry bout the forecast
Just smile and chuckle away!

Life's a grabber, ain't it?
Don't waste it on some frowns
Click up your heels, skip along
Turn nastiness upside down!

I grew up in the eighties
that’s where I spent my teens
We saw the end of the bell bottoms
and ushered in the acid wash jeans

I remember big hair and rock bands
Friday night parties with all of my friends
Drag racing after school
and hoping it would never end

I remember being young
my first awkward night with a girl
I knew I’d had too much to drink
but I still had to give it a whirl

I’ll never forget that feeling
our special group on graduation day
Those faces I would never see again
and setting out to make our own way

Premium Member There Is a Village Unto Itself

There is a village, Workplace of 7500, healing muscle minds and sinew, Of the fallen few. Working night and day. Their mission critical is to heal men And woman tasked to war, wounds inflicted every day. Received in theaters thru out the world, deemed important by their leaders, whose own sons and daughters, don’t seem to want to give it a whirl. Why are they, these providers of aid, necessary for their charges to find a way? Because Access to the Spirit, Now blocked by their pain, can Be free to happen once more. Is there anything more important for the Village, and them, to gain?

Hello Down Under

Life is just like a boomerang
Give it a whirl and mind the whang
Velocity gain
Quadruple the pain
When it returns from whence it sprang

Philanderer

You are a butterfly in disguise
My ears were cajoled by your honeyed words
Your affectionate kiss
pierced my emptiness
Your lips
Are belching out happiness

“Stay a little longer, I beseech you.”
You pleaded exceedingly
When you acted as a philanthropist on your love project
You kneel down and lift me,
Whispered something on my cheek,
And say
“ Let’s give it a whirl.”

I try to approach your waist
You touch my hair,
warm my clammy hand
and attempted a joke...

Please forgive me
I’m not a good actor at this time...
Or even tomorrow

Premium Member Chasing the Dream

France is the stage for the drama to come
Victory for others and defeat for some
Chasing the dream to be number one
As up and down the field they run

The "Matildas" got a much needed win
After defeating Brazil three to two
They will play today, an when the match begins
They are hoping the 'Reggae Girlz' dont give them the blues

Brazil will battle Italy in a do or die
A loss may bring them to tears
As samba rhythms rise to the sky
Victory could be theirs if they dare

The World Cup trophy is the most prized of all
In a game most call football
This month, the women will give it a whirl
To see who will be crowned queens of the world!

Un Break My Heart

I live and I breath one day at a time
I will recover, get back to my prime
I live each day alright just fine
On a scale from one to ten, give me a nine.

I still want in on all the fun stuff
Even if it's sitting back for a puff puff
This recovery is over I've had enough
Now let's go party, but just don't end up in handcuffs

I know now I can do it all
I'll climb the highest mountain, and never fall
So baby let's go out, just give me a call
When we're are all done, that special picture will be on the wall.

One day, some way, I'll get my dream girl
Might even be a chocolate vanilla swirl
Hey I'll try a lot, I'll give it a whirl
It would even be great if I can make it plural.

If this is the case, I'll be in heaven
Hey two girls, let's make it seven
Do dreams really ever come true
Hey I say YES, so gather the hot girl crew!

Just hold on and don't let go,
And someday I'll let you know.
Just hold on to this string, girl,
And someday we'll give it a whirl.

Premium Member Laveaha

Laveaha was a beautiful mermaid,
who lived underneath the real deep sea.
She was a princess who longed to be free,
finding her one true love was what she prayed.

Zueselist, king controlled her every move,
he wanted the best for his little girl.
She aimed to live life and give it a whirl.
Laveaha felt that she had much to prove.

At night she would swim to the ocean's shore,
once she reached land, she was able to walk,
Laveaha ran and used her voice to talk.
being above the ocean wasn't a bore.

One night her eyes laid on a handsome man,
she didn't want to return her ocean home.
She found true love and heart wouldn't roam,
He was her soulmate, perfect gentleman.

Laveaha left her crown and her power,
they married and became husband and wife.
She never looked back, just embraced her life,
although long ago, she visits the hour.

The rhyme scheme "abba" (that is, where the first and fourth lines, and the second and third lines rhyme).

Tarnation

7/27/17

Going into light and dark places
With a steady pulse or as my heart races

What in tarnation
I see so much greed and starvation

Here to change the world
Whether or not using objects that are straight or curled
I'll still give it a whirl

Maintaining composure
It's far from over
But getting closer

Similar and varying degrees
The will to succeed
Knowing I shall bleed
I won't give up so long as I can still breathe

In and out of orbit
This is no horseshit
I'm not going to forfeit
I'm all game for it
Whether or not I have to use a forklift
