Going barefoot feels fine at the time
and wearing shoes do too
but sometimes I need something light
something not quite so tight only sandals will do
going barefoot feels fine now and then
and donning boots do too
but sometimes I want something loose
something I can put to good use only sandals come through
sandals always do the trick
and of the pack I had my pick
but wish I knew what makes them tick
and get a handle on these my brand new sandals
they didn't cost a lot of money
but when I walk my feet sound funny
flip-flop flip-flop
my right goes flip my left goes flop
flip-flop flip-flop all day long until I stop
tho' they're really no good for running
I'm footloose and fancy-free
and if you hear a flip-flop coming
hey that'll be me

Seasonal writing may be fraught
with dreams that hip and hop,
feelings that flip and flop.
We want, of course, that which is not.
In crushing heat, chill winds must blow.
We write of cool, crisp days.
We write of warmer ways
when cold, and craft a camp fire’s glow.
Fall is a transitional thing
when the winds huff and puff.
Fickle, we cry “Enough!”,
and write of gentle, greening Spring.
So write away until no more
weather shapes fertile pens.
Leave the seasons to cleanse
our pens and let our musing soar!

So I unintentionally started a forest fire while burning some leaves today. I caught my flip flop on fire and panicked then flung it down into the woods. The size 11 & 1/2 fireball soared through the air like it was launched by a midevil catapult....it landed directly in a pile of dry leaves and branches. By the time I did the one shoe hobble for the water hose and back I had a 3 alarm fire going. On a good note I have one extra flip flop from when I did the same thing last year.

A Flip Flop
Shuffling through the dandelions,
Partly hidden in the grass I find,
A little flip flop too soon worn,
Rushing spring, and all its signs.
A tiny girl playing hide and seek,
A doll under one arm, I saw her run,
Little feet got cold, even numb,
Oblivious, she was having fun.
I take the flip flop to her house,
Her mother thanking me so,
I hear a cough, see a wet dress hanging,
Little girl has her first spring cold.

I lie in flip-flop half enlightened state, half asleep, half awake
Betwixt shut eye and shuttered eye peeping out half open slit.
Flipping and flopping not knowing which state is real, surreal or dream.
Can I choose the better take?
Can I choose the better outcome?
Consciousness held suspended, reality blurred, bizarre and fuzzy.
I don't want to wake up till I know how to tell dream from too true.
Time suspended, sand in hour glass goes up and down.
I'm floating aloft awaiting the pin prick
That will spurt, splurt, blurt and babble me back to stark reality
Like a picked balloon careers in chaos around a room.

Life, a mount, full of rage,
What a path, like a cage,
Earth, a ball, on the fish,
Mute and silence, wish
Slippy, fickle back, like a ray,
What a ride, milky way!
Fishy ball, on the horn
On the fish we all born.

Flip-Flop
Spin a top
Feel a drop
Taste the rain
Weather Vane
What a pain
Dripping light
Falling bright
Wet tonight

I've just re-read my poem
of a pessimism groan
and re-Mark ed to my self inside
"hey man, where's yr pride?"
"Yo, Why you giving up?
before You drink the cup?
You know you'll never find
Her again - so grind
Yr teeth with gnash and resilience
and go for broke with brilliance,
cause if you let Her go
You may not ever know
Why She intrigues You very so
or why the Moon doth glow,
or why You tingle at her teeth
and what might be lying beneath
those Eyes that give You chills
and that heart She nearly kills
and slays with just One look
(like tiny tremors shook)
So, Hey Man, just see what happens next
before getting too complex
Cause I think she digs you too
That Girl, Kinshala Blue..."
