A Flip Flop
A Flip Flop
Shuffling through the dandelions,
Partly hidden in the grass I find,
A little flip flop too soon worn,
Rushing spring, and all its signs.
A tiny girl playing hide and seek,
A doll under one arm, I saw her run,
Little feet got cold, even numb,
Oblivious, she was having fun.
I take the flip flop to her house,
Her mother thanking me so,
I hear a cough, see a wet dress hanging,
Little girl has her first spring cold.
