The Direction Home

Flatten the hills as promised
Remove salt from the seas
Remove the east from the west
Make all directions point north and south
Make babies return to the womb
Make mothers change their tune
Turn the corner of your mind to the sublime
Turn the tumbling tides into suggestions
From the inside out into a question
Turn bread and wine into Yourself
Before You rise, before our eyes
Promise to leave us to our devices
Be they battery operated or electric
Promise to save us from ourselves
Before we drown, before the power outage

Premium Member Summer's Slow Wilting

sun-struck hours flatten every shade
lawns crisp into brittle patches of thirst
heat presses down with a hand that won’t lift

air wavers, shimmering with quiet exhaustion
porches hold people too tired to speak
even hope feels slow beneath this burning sky

Premium Member The Blue Boy and the Girl with the Pearl Earring

Just as children catch butterflies for their specimen books, in 1665, Johannes Vermeer captured the image of The Girl with a Pearl Earring, and, in 1770, Thomas Gainsborough caught the soul of The Blue Boy. In 1922, the youths met at an exhibition in the National Gallery in London. Listen:

Have you wondered if logic would allow
a soul to be ripped from “the here and now”
to fly like spirits in dreams or faintings -
or when a torn canvas is two paintings
pledging a silent wedding vow?

On either side of an elegant room,
stood two attractive figures once snatched from life's bloom
by artists who'd turn to oils and flatten
a boy in blue satin
and a girl in Dutch costume.

Said the boy, "Miss, with the pearl on your ear,
won't you join me in my painting here?"
Said the girl, "I'd love for us to be a single work of art,
and you already have my heart.
It would be so lovely, dear...

but, a couple, we can never be.
We're meant to live in our own beauty;
and though, each other, we have chosen,
in cruel time and space, we're frozen,
torn from life by fate - apart for eternity".

reaching the limit of his intelligence
she felt more obligated to the other
feeling a need to
 process her feelings
to rebuild emotional intimacy
that intimacy she needed
from the other man
 so she could feel validated
Expressing emotions aloud
unfulfilled needs in her
 current primary relationship
such as a lack of emotional
connection, excitement, and validation

Bidding Them Access

Raging tornadoes
 coursing the land
They enter our psyches
low pressure at hand

To flatten our tinder
and rip out its studs
Our entry and exit
left deep in the mud

They hail from the flatlands
of thoughts we disperse
And leave in a cyclone
of verses they curse

Attempting to stop them
we close our eyes tight
But ears bid them access
— to welcome their blight

SACRIFICIAL SIBLING

Someone has to take the blame
You stepped up, and took the licks
We shielded our ears and guarded hearts
Trying to forget what LOVE couldn't fix

We watched you go to work, so young
Bringing home your pay for our need
You, just a sibling, like us
Responsible for sheep you never wanted to lead

Food was limited, resources too
And you passed the treat with steady resolve
I saw your desire perk and flatten
As you walked away with no need to be involved

Even after you left the home
Creativity was traded in for work that paid
You raised a family while staying back
Until all your worth was taken in the fade

Now you sit in pain and anger
Wondering if anyone in this life will care
Believing if one person would finally notice
That your sacrifice is the lion's share

...thank you

Premium Member FOG IN THOSE EYES

remove cataracts of prejudice from those eyes;
let truth cut through comfort’s easy lies;
let not bias flatten people into shapes;
let not fear sharpen shadows into threats;
let not judgment wound others without cause;
let courage remove prejudice from those eyes.

Your pain hurts

It tears me up inside
Knowing you are breaking open and wide
It hurts my heart seeing your pain
Seeing the losses with no gain
A battle within that has commanded control
Playing games and crushing your soul
Losing yourself within this state
Filling you with doubt and hate
The pain you vocally project
The wrath of emotion you direct
The delicate nature of your brain chemicals
Hurts my brains receptacles
It’s not easy to keep calm
When my thoughts and feelings are like napalm
A battle to keep frustrations under control
It hard for my heart and mind to console
The anger rages beneath my skin
My mind also takes me for a spin
When you are not okay
We both end up in a state of decay
You always need to stay open and honest
As that is what you once promised
In this together whatever happens
One day the demons inside will flatten

Connecting your current reality with God’s present ability

God the Father alone has the power to invert situations.
Revert conditions and overhaul circumstances in your life

God’s power can cause things to explode
God’s power can rearrange things
God’s power can flatten things
God’s power can restructure things
God’s power can lift things and produce things
God’s power can show up

God the Father can go beyond our current circumstances
Jesus, the Spoken Word can enhance your capacity
Therefore, connect your current reality with God’s present ability

Premium Member My Hope for the New Year

My hope for the year 2026
is for me to heal and try to fix
my waves of grief and stabs of pain
that flatten me daily and keep me from gain
in my faith, future, and doing well at my job
I feel like I am running in place and feel like a glob
of struggle, grief, no concentration, and lots of reaction
to small things that turn into a huge distraction
from what I am trying to accomplish and find
which is peace in my soul, heart, and mind

not a she

He once was a she,
Playing with his dolls,
He always felt wrong,
He felt like his body was not his own,
The boy felt alone,
He knew his parents would never believe him,
That their beloved daughter,
Was actually a son,
That the meat on his chest,
Was not meant to be,
Not allowed to have more masculine hair,
Or a binder to flatten his chest,
But he didn't let them smother him,
And instead he broke free,
Becoming who he wanted to be.

Seek Peace

Let a troubled world search for peace
Where neighbours stand beside
Holding hands with loving thought
Where no children have to hide

Let the rain of fire be cooled this day
And sirens are still in sound
For words to stem the threat of war
In loving sentence found

For this earth is loaned to us
To nurture and protect
Not flatten and bring to ash
But rise and to respect

Let the news rejoice around the world
That peace has victor be
There is hope for a brighter day
And a future for you and me!

Truth Comes at Dawn

God gave them hair, but they added wigs;
He gave them lashes — they made them longer.
God gave their lips a colour, yet they changed it to figs;
He shaped their chests — they prefer them silicone-stronger.

Their faces hide beneath make-up fixtures,
Their brows they darken with penciled skives.
Their skins they bleach with caustic mixtures,
Their bellies they flatten with sharpened knives.

Even their butts they build Brazilian high;
On their nails gleam paints and polished glosses.
Their tongues spill words that flirt or lie,
Their skins bear rings and tattooed crosses.

Better choose one — before or after bath,
Or fakeness will lie on your bed till morrow;
And when you wake to dawn’s clear path,
The truth will stand in a mirror of sorrow.

Until The Sound Is Silence

Expired desire lit the ego on fire
comparing yourself to somebody else
stupid as hell gonna flatten your tire
overcompensating only dampens your health

Born to be different
begging to fit in
trying so hard
the acceptance wears thin
as soon as you get it you got it
worthless waging
needing it most is when you see it a sin

loyalty ghosts what you gave and getting
never get back as much as you have put in
deficit shows with nerve they’ll be moaning
self awareness isn’t there they’re unaware it’s showing

so you let go of what you’ve known but no
they don’t let you go feeling they are owed
a horse they never rode
so just row your boat
until the sound is silence and the self is vibrant
showing your selfish side
front to back delight
acceptance comes from inside yourself and who cares about them beside themselves

Happiness isn’t happening when it’s how you’re seen it’s how you feel, so how you been?
