Ground Clouds and Fish Smaze

A mackerel sky fillets a fish scaled village,
an ear clapping, full sailed, fog
moors itself to the rooftops,
then hides all in a breezeless blear.

Rheumy eyes peep out from nets,
damp noses sniff abaft trawling drapes.
Cloth in hand, potbellied proprietors
battle the splatter and spray,
dabbing at mildewed shelves,
warding away slopping waders
and salty puddles.

On the sightless sea
far beyond the shore and shingle,
fog horns are lowing like lost cattle.

Later, misty reeks will be scoured
from groggy docks,
hauling hands will rope together
the tide-tossed salvage

by and by, squeaky boots
may trudge to taprooms
where codgers and callow alike
can be well oiled
and duly quenched.

In Halloween week once the days have turned dark
He lurks where the lamplight cannot leave it’s mark
And late night dog walkers whose dogs do not bark
All steer a wide path as he harvests the park

By day he is nought but a grass covered mound
But a light in the night would show flat level ground
His nocturnal quarter a shady enclave
And there he will wait for the dim…. or the brave

This giant whose mouth is a ravenous cavern
To vacuum up strollers too long in the tavern
Each rushing home to an ill-tempered wife
He fillets their bones with no cleaver or knife

His yawn reveals hundreds of stalactite teeth
His tongue is as rough as a storm ravaged reef
And with hunger sated he shall not be found
As he rests for a year as a grass covered mound

Premium MemberDrop Me Off

Drop me off on an island
where coconuts dangle sweetly
where the ghost of lost love
pirouettes on a moon kissed beach

A hut made of palm leaves is all i need
a jug band with a chorus of gulls
and blue crabs on the strings
for the first time in a long while
i'll take the lead
seduce the siren's that sit smugly
upon the reefs of the mind

Drop me off on an island
away from war and abortion..
where golden fillets
glitter delightfully on palm leaf plates
where shadows slide over shoals
fanning silver edged chapters
to the drum beat of gentle fates

Drop me off on an island
before its to late
before my soul turns gull throated white
where the stars etch the years
into the heart of the loneliest night

Drop me off on an island
had my fill of wild fires and goblins
drop me off on an island
the furthest one from the mainland..
far from the wreckage of man's
bloody muzzled carnival ride.

Fog and Sea

sniff and fish behind trawling curtains.

lost fog horns are lowing deep

Righteous Love So Grand--

Ragouts doubting dreams
Individual starlet does scream
Grilled tourneys resources
Hot linguine imagine voices
Tourneys inter-vision bloom
Exultant roundelays run
Owns penned ricochet bouts
Understandable spangle shouts
Spangle glimmer goes out

Long roundelays solo run
Own imaginations laugh
Vigorous intellects cry of love
Excellent fillets run fast

Such ragouts shout
Own fascinations walks

Golden shoes holding hands
Romantic imaginations cry
Aggressive fantasies laugh
Narrow conceptions glimmers why?
Deadly fascinations runs back

How It All Still Hinges On Or

How dare you, making this about versus!
I take no position among fillets.
In fact, I defend the ground between us.
For that I must verse you, though I would anyways.

To plainly put all our lives on a fence,
That neither you nor I will go,
Or might we both as independent events –
I see that you also know.

It’s not fair to tangle my mechanical thinking,
O’er the likelihood of being taken by naught.
My dreams are fading, my hopes are sinking,
And look what you brought. ====(==)

Beneath us avails our mirrored pond,
Having more, by doing less, and yes, the ignore.
To power your craft, looking on and beyond,
To have the last laugh, whether rich ever poor.

This is why I will not squirm, nor cry,
By saying ugly things that lack certain approach,
And form metaphorical patterns that fully lie,
And then surrender when it's time to encroach.

Or, not.

Premium MemberLake Moments

Not sure what it is
about this land
that grabs you
but I was grabbed
long ago.

Trip ends today,
last night I stayed up late,
sipping remaining whisky
as the red sun set
neath hill's dark shoulders.

Crisp morning
up before six
lake like glass
rustle up the fire
and make coffee.

Rest of camp
sound asleep
so I solo
cast the back bay
release a hammer handle
then troll the north shore
into a freshening wind
nothing.

Move out
to deeper water
perhaps a morning walleye
but the wind’s up,
and the sparkling sun
puts fish down
still nothing.

End of lake
head back
cast the shoreline
snag a bush
retrieve the lure
test line – it snaps.
Retie, change lures,
Tom got a good fish
in these narrows
but today
nothing.

Ignore my watch,
change to a deeper lure
last point, a satisfying tug
good pike – strong fish
open water, use net
she’s mine.

Paddle back to camp
with fresh fillets for home
and memories
of when the lake
and I were one.

Premium MemberBack On Track

Been gaining some pounds since moving here
Getting back on track once more
No more cake with two scoops of ice cream
I'm as dedicated as I was before

Resisting temptation is the name of the game
Will power sure comes into play
Without it you're doomed right from the start
Keep chomping away on fillets

Did it before so failing's not an option
Determined as I was back then
Too much poundage can be a dangerous thing
Going to lose a bunch once again

Do I hear you cheering me on, my friends
Well thank you for your support
I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing
Kinda like a progress report

Trust me I'm as confident as I've ever been
Did it once and will do it again
But if for some reason I don't achieve my goal
Got no one but myself to blame

Gratitude For Gratis Favours

From the bottom of my heart
I thank you honey bee
for all that liquid gold
that's bought and sold
Your precious honey from your tiny womb
Yes God bless thy fine honeycomb.
But sorry for stealing
your liquid of healing!

And thankyou baa baa bleating sheep
for your warming fluffy wool
The cold makes the babies weep
and they could die of the cool.

Mother hen to you thankyou
for protein packed trays of gratis eggs
and forgive me, for delicious drumstick legs!

And mooing cows sorry for taking
your calf's milk we too love drinking
for cakes have to be baking

Ah, and apologies for loving those tasty fish fillets
Coated and fried in those fine sizzling skillets

And thankyou little silkworm
Silken dresses have been the norm

Deers thankyou for musk, and venison for the meal
Apologies to calves for partaking of their veal.

Ah thankyou God for all that food
If we thank Him not we're ingrates rude.
