Giant owls
Flying over streets
Giant fowls
Feathers falling like sheets
Back on the ground
We ride on insects
They make not a sound
Keeping us safe from the flying objects
lonely tree in yard
houses squirrel and robins nest
the two do not mix
Light is the keratin structure
That formed covering my body
Plumage I'm 2 unique bird
Monophonically heard
I concur
Calamus hollow tubular base
I reserve...
(hello), Rachis my soul central solid shaft
Above mine quills
Plumage soft N bold
Contour feathers
~
I spread out my wings I fly
I open up my mouth I sing, high
Generating thrust I steer during flight
I sing, I fly, I cry my whispers are GOOD NIGHT
I TWEET SWEET MELODIES
Filoplumes mine bristles hairlike whiskers
Sensory feathers to feel you in AWE
Feel you in all positions, heaven sent
I soar, I fly complete in environment
I am encased in, contour feathers
Now I'm feeling such, so much better

written by James Edward Lee Sr. 2026
The eyes fall heavy, dropped like iron weights,
The crimson seal breaks open on the page.
A silent heart decodes its darker fates,
As lips unclose without a smile to gauge.
Out through the mouth, a stark emission flies -
A gasp of feathers leaves a bitter trace.
Black words like crows sweep through the quiet skies,
To peck the margins of a narrow space.
No whisper marks the blood the poets bleed,
Dark mulberry stained upon the sacred font.
I dip the quill to satisfy the need,
And trace the only baptism that we want.
Our drawn out paths were meant to run divine;
We cast the runes and walk the crooked line.
Candide Diderot. ‘26
Isn’t it strange to admit
That body and soul live separately
I feel the ground at my feet
Being far from here consciously
It’s three thousand miles away
Maybe more, but no less than that
There I have some good mornings to say
For the feathers flown off from your hat
Every time I can open the door
To the pictures you took for me
Isn’t it strange that we hoped for more
Knowing it wasn’t to be..
At least not in this life, as they claim
Will we end up following this
Unconscious life of the blamed
Only for one more kiss..
Swoops low wings dipping
Serpentine neck held rigid
Feathered & tarred slick
conscientiousness~
smoothing those ruffled feathers,
small mindful actions,
quiet care unfolding like
light warming a cool morning
APROPOS OF BIRDS OF DIFFERENT FEATHERS
Feathering their nests,
Off they flew to labors of love:
Working against war:-
Time for us to be as doves:
Where love is, war cannot be.
Today’s bald eagle’s
Symbolisms are reduced;
Except that of war:-
Time for us to be as doves:
Where love is, war cannot be.
Can’t clip a dove’s wing;
They’re eternally jointed:
But not the eagle’s:-
Time for us to be as doves:
Where love is, war cannot be.
Good morning bookstore owner,
here my new book is a loaner.
It is a must read,
it will turn your young readers head.
It is about silly yellow ducks not red,
shaking their feathers and counting ahead.
The kids will love this fun book,
fill your shelf so they can take a look.
Red feathers flashing
Scattering birdseed about

Some days it's a smooth stone
in my pocket,
certain and worn~
my fingers finding its edges
in the darkness.
Other days it is a match struck
against the wind—
a brief, defiant light
before the gust takes it.
Sometimes it is the silence
between two hands
not quite touching,
the space humming
with the ghosts of prayers
that never found their words.
And once, just once,
it was the hollow of a bird’s wing
cupping the air beneath it,
holding nothing,
holding everything,
as the sky rushed in.

feeding young in eaves
