Passion

    Passion's born a wormy moon
    Laying waste our good intent...
As desire brings forth a foolery
Where we rile in love's torment.

      As novelty stokes our zeal
  And the impetus seems well-meant...
It quickly dies a pauper's death
     As familiarity breeds contempt.

     If familiarity brings the winter...
       Driving passion to its knees.
The fault is ours... and ours alone
As we forget what's soon to be.

                Affairs of Men

The affairs of men dim evermore...
        Morose they seem to be.
Buffeted by the winds of fate
              And mediocrity.

Familiarity breeds contempt they say
Just as absence makes the heart grow fonder
Is this the reason couples fight and stray
Seeking their true love way out yonder?

Premium Member The Chisel

Familiarity
Can sometimes be
A chisel
That slowly chips away
At human souls
Stripping first the aura
Then splintering
The shiny, pearly shell
To finally bear
The red, raw meat
That often brings contempt.

    "Ebony Embers of Wallowing Ash"

flames of fire fuel black smoke
walls tumble to ground like dark cloak
Egypt burns in savage rebellion
as human life perishes in ashen soak.

tears of sadness pray ... ask Why?
happy existence ceases, to die,
Libya riots in chaotic state
peace perishes in immortal sigh.

each night erupts in tragedy
the black hole deepens in catastrophe
Yemen yells a chant of war and death
blood surges from guns and gadgetry.

pain and suffering appease fierce foe
disgracing flag of freedom flow
Tunisia embraces in solidarity
blackhearts dominate love's glow.

democracy is erased from view
with countries rationale' askew
familiarity breeds contempt for good
impending doom eradicates coup.

religious rites obscure clear vision
a ploy to wage war with precision
root core remains a mystery
ebony embers wallow, who holds the right decision?

Loves Pieces

Loves Pieces

Like discarded shards of glass, the pieces of my heart
Lay in broken disarray since we have been apart
I loved you then, I love you now, what more can I say
Did I hold you much to close, did that push you away

Is it something that I said, something I spoke in haste
Did I hurt you with my words and leave a bitter taste
Perhaps something I did not say that you longed to hear
A kind word or platitude like how much I love you dear

Could it be the way I look. Perhaps I've changed too much
I'm no longer as attractive and you no longer crave my touch
Or perhaps you just know me so well, you've grown bored by me
Familiarity breeds contempt they say, you don't like what you see

But wait, who said the problems mine, that I'm the one to blame
Who said that I'm the reason that things are not the same
I still have so much to give, my love, my heart, my soul
I'll pick up all the pieces and find someone to make them whole

Sunday Rememberance

If I was a rich man
I would buy up market friends
Follow all the new trends
Drive the latest Mercedes Benz
Service myself with greed
Consume more than I need
But if I am honest to myself and true
What I would really love to do
Is buy back time
Take a completely different view
You see to me my biggest regret is that I realized to late
The bounty of love set at my plate
As the cancer took took care of that fate
Familiarity breeds contempt is what he always meant
And when he eventually took his breath his life finally spent
It came abundantly clear what familiarity breeds contempt really meant
When you show love to late your left with only crumbs on your plate
For in reality a truly rich man to this will attest
He has very few friends
Drives a bus not a Benz
Rather lived out his life to atone to amend
In the hope come the day the bitter end
Reading his obituary
Those he loved the most loved him back the most

The Most Bitter Wine

Sour grapes make for the most
bitter wine.
I drink from it daily

Seeing lives I wish to lead
Moments I wish were mine
Familiarity breeds contempt
Brewing this hatred inside
No longer happy for you
No longer living through you
But resenting you
Questioning, why you
Not me
Turning all these sweet things
sour
Turning all this love into
rancour
Turning these brown eyes,
green

Filling my glass to the rim
I take another sip.

Politics and Politicians

The good is evil and the evil is good;
The omen is clear, yet,no one reads,
The signal is up, still no one heeds,
There is but one use of power,
It is to save people,
But all we hear of power is trouble,
Everyone wants to get and use it,
They want to gain popularity,
Winning elections a neccesity,
Campaigns all exaggerations,
Their evil deeds no explanation,
Well-wishers they are yet to woo,
Birds chatter where they woo,
Birds chatter where they coo,
The desire to be famous is an attempt,
Forgetting that familiarity breeds contempt;
Speeches are delivered in lying tongues,
Manifestoes in dying souls,
People are suffering,children are dying,
Still,they're obstinate and blind,
Passing frrom deception to deception,
And to final illusion,
Host in the wonder of their own greatness.

Familiarity

Familiarity breeds contempt,
This is true but only as exception,
Where familiarity is relation of dependence,
Where it is formed out of group living,
Instances of contempt are there,
But they are far less than other happy/normal instances,
Where we live together in abandon,
Supporting each other,
And even awaiting another moment of contempt,
Here familiarity no doubt bred contempt but then,
It bred more familiarity all along.
