Blooming

Today was thirty-five degrees,
But cherry trees were blooming
And daffodils have opened,
Right on time, I am assuming.

The sunshine helped offset the temps
So blossoms felt that yearning
To cover all the branches
As the season’s slowly turning.

Most folks were bundled up and yet,
Some short sleeves started showing,
On those who did not mind the fact
That biting winds were blowing.

Since springtime has arrived, it doesn’t
Matter if it’s chilly,
For Nature’s plan does not let
Sprouting happen willy-nilly.

Occasionally, there’s a frost,
But most plants keep surviving
And soon enough, some warmer days
Will keep them gaily thriving.

The city looks so pretty now
And it’s just the beginning,
Yet everybody out there
Couldn’t stop themselves from grinning.

Parallels

Written By: D. Collins 1/7/26

Project 2025 is staring us right in the face.
Kick everybody out except the Arion race.
Just take over countries like Hitler did.
And shoot down women in Minneapolis.

It sure feels like a welcome to the very end.
In hurry-up mood and expedited fashion.
Similarities can be drawn in parallel lines.
Jews aren't the victims at this point in time.

To Everybody Out There

To everybody out there
To friends I have and haven’t met
I hope that our encounter
Does not fill you with regret
I hope you leave my presence
With good thoughts in your head
And that you’ll still be smiling
As you lay down in your bed
I hope our meeting brings you
A joy that’s rare to find
And a sense of hope for others
Who from material things are blind
I hope you’ll see an inner peace
That can’t be bought with gold
Reflected on my smiling face
When I my dear family hold
If our meeting made you happy
And maybe you’ve laughed out loud
This is the elusive silver lining
That’s behind every dark cloud

Cheap Suits

You bought your baby that cheap perfume,
that will chase everybody out of the room

You gave your baby a cheap anniversary gift,
then took her to a takeout joint where you don’t have to tip

You brought your baby flowers plucked from a garden,
didn’t have to spend no plastic, they got personally sent

You took your baby to the one dollar matinee,
it had a promotional free popcorn giveaway

You had your baby go get your cheap suits cleaned,
while you sat at home bank counting your beans

Life

Life is hard at times
Hearts get broken on a dime
Many are hurting from the pain
Some even feel like their going insane

At times just a hug or a smile
And a simple listening ear is all worth while
Just to know that someone cares for you
Can touch a heart like nothing else can do

So always be ready to lend a helping hand
For one day you will need somebody to help you stand
Never give up on what is right
Because everybody out there is having to fight

Greed

Greed

Yes we were born with out possession,
the love received was from God and our parents,
no worries, no fears, no troubles and no fuss.
Yes in our mother's arms we put our total trust.

But as some got older, they looked and wanted more,
Then found themselves all too enslaved to money.
The more they received, the more they needed.
Their quest for more became their LIFE.

Their thirst for our need for more was unable to meat.
The more we grasped, the tighter we held on to it.
They con and scham everybody and gathered to hoard,
possessions became their master and lord.

And when their old with their treasures all together,
This is a sad example of what greed has to their lives.
Their need for it still clenched in the bottom of their heart,
Yes at their death they realize it was wrong to be greedy.
To con and scham everybody out of the their money.
So they would have nothing and you with it all.

God Forgive you for your greed
hurting your brothers, sisters all
in the name of GREED.

The Turnaround

I'm caught up in a maelstrom
That's trying to pull me in
I keep on swimming outward
But I feel that I can't win

Like feces in a toilet
As the water pulls it down
I refuse to let that happen
I will not let me drown

My mind is forged from muscle
My muscles forged from steel
They both combine to give me strength
To carry out my will

When I survive to stay alive
I'll celebrate the day
I'll take a breath and heave a sigh
And then I'll have my say

I'll stand upon a pedestal
The crowds will cheer my name
I'll raise my hands in victory
And they will do the same

The sun will share my glory
And the stars will share my shine
All will know the beauty
That the three of us combine

I have a heart. I have a soul
I have a light within
Let everybody out there know
My final word is "WIN"

World Trade Center, Ode To 9 11

There was a plane that crashed into
World trade center tower
It took some live and more than few
The hungry flames devour

Then a second plane also crashed
People falling, dying
Many more were trapped down below
To rescue people trying

How many more have to be dead?
Question people asking
And ashes down at ground zero
Anything but basking

Praise police and firepeople
To help everybody out
This place we will never forget
Many people shout

So finally debris is gone
Etched in painful memory
Everyone tired almost to the bone
Hope ones in heaven see

Way of the World Part Two

everybody out for self
young kids in the pen facing death
and still got milk on his breath

first case that hit em he a victim
court appointed lawyer
b.s him got him in the system

and these preteens get more c.r.e.a.m than folgers
in high school they high rollers
all ways strapped like soldiers

I got to deal with mean mugs
the c.r.e.a.m from drugs
the screams and blood
the scene of fiends and thugs

cop cars, yellow tape, chalked outlines
teardrops from the crying
but that don't stop the dyeing

trying to get mines without getting got
hit me im hitting back
I was told to shoot or you getting shot

and peace a'int two fingers spreaded it's the steel in your palms
threaten to squeeze enemies remain calm

but there is no way in the world to beat the way of the world
I get drunk and I earl and get in fights with my girl

No One Knows

I am alone in darkness
No one knows how I feel everyday
I am unable to speak out
I don't know why I am feeling this way

My emotions linger around
My space is squeezing by you
I wish I could get out
I don't think I can make it through

The sky is turning black
And the sun is block by my fear
The stars started to fade
I am all by myself in here

Can't feel the things around
Too far from the surroundings
Try my best to stand up
Wishing upon anything

Lost, I am trying to find myself
But the darkness blinded me so much
What happened to my world
This world I am loosing my touch

No one knows how I suffer
No one can see through me
No one knows how I feel
While everybody out there
Is running free
