Do you know what it’s like
To be required no more,
To be put out to grass,
To be kicked out the door,
To know your work’s ended,
No more will be done,
To be slung on the tip,
Pushed aside by the young,
To be pensioned off
In an unceremonious way,
To know you’ve had yours,
Every dog has its day,
To have an appetite for work,
But be left to hunger,
To be replaced by someone
Less able but younger,
To be told you’re too old,
When you feel in your prime,
To be sent on your bike,
Before it’s your time,
To be all washed up
And flushed down the drain,
To have no physical wounds,
But still be in pain,
To feel your age,
Find you’re no Peter Pan,
To see your life going
No longer to plan,
To recall when you felt rich,
But now you feel poor,
To hear your heart slowly pumping,
Alas’ it races no more,
To experience an emptiness
That nothing will fill,
To have no medical symptoms,
But still feel ill,
To be out of control
Of your own destiny,
To be constantly asking
Why me ... why me?
I can no longer skip and jump,
Which makes me sad and blue
It also gives me the hump
When I look at you,
Vivacious, full of energy
Healthy and robust too
My, get up and go
Has got up and gone,
Left and ran away.
It is only proper
Every dog has its day.
So slow down, little puppy,
I can't keep up the pace,
It would cause embarrassment,
If I fell on my face.
Why don't you get down from your high horse?
It may bring you down to Earth,
Because you are sitting up so high
It doesn't show your worth,
You may have a different view
Sitting high up there
But there are others beneath you
Who needs some love and care?
If you are sitting up so high,
It's easy to lose sight.
Out of sight of mind
Oblivious of the plight,
Of others and their kin
You discard them,
As quickly as throwing rubbish into a bin.
Every dog has its day,
That's how the saying goes.
Get down from that high horse,
And feel the Earth between your toes
Plant your feet firmly on the ground
It gives you a sense of balance
And help justice to abound.
If you want to rise even higher
You will always need a taller horse.
You will become a high flyer
And disappear off course.
Why crawl;
when you can slither,
Your motive and actions,
you might reconsider.
You portray you
know what you're doing,
I know the kind of potion;
you are brewing.
You only considered you,
and your needs,
You deserted me
and my heart bleeds.
You treat me as
if I'm someone you never knew,
It is difficult to imagine
a life without you.
I have no idea,
who you really are,
You cut me deep,
it will never scar.
Do I remind you
of someone you use to know?
It was not that
very long ago.
You do not return my calls,
you act like I don't exist,
You can't understand,
why I'm so pissed.
When I said forever,
I meant forever,
You discarded me
with the flick of a lever.
Love is not something
you just quit,
This is why
I'm not over it.
You have no idea
what is wrong with me,
You did me a favor,
you set me free.
I see it in a very
different way,
I view it as deceit
and foul play,
Remember this;
Every dog has its day…

Dealt with a Sonnet and Haiku futility
Achieved some success without "thesauric" utility
Solved the conundrum of rhythm and pace
Wrote a true Limerick to redden the face
Accepted the challenge of functionless form
Imprisoned free verse becoming the norm
Judges use fingers because syllables matter
Counting them all makes them mad as the hatter
Some will rate grammar above style and grace
Others prize lines strewn all over the place
Then the exceptions that prove the fools rules
That murder the subject without leaving clues
Alas comes the trauma of multiple winners
Without separation of "the Pros" from beginners
Poems that achieve "algorithmic" foreplay
Somehow winding up as Poem Of The Day
Forsooth and a pussycat just drop one in
And if no one comments post it again
For sooner or later every dog has its day
To bask in the sun its "best" work on display

You might not lead a revolution,
But maybe you could inspire a change.
You might not lead a righteous life,
But every dog has its day.
You might not know the meaning of life,
But maybe your life will have meaning.
You might not understand your dreams,
But still we keep on dreaming.

Every dog has its day
even the cactus will bloom one day
so try try try until you win
and one day, your life will begin
When the truth never prevails,
and the untruth fails to fail,
do believe, its just the obscured sky.
Your clouds will pass by and you will fly
When people lead you on,
and make you feel down,
remember,Life is not a running race
and there is no urge to chase
Don't be petrified to take risks
Don't ever rely on your luck.
Don't try to turn your clock
and don't trivialize yourself, because
Every dog has its day
even the cactus will bloom one day
so try try try until you win,
and one day your life will begin
The Truth Will Out
Every dog has its day,
But soon enough it will fade away.
When its day has been and gone,
You will see I’ve done nothing wrong.
It won’t be long until you realise,
I’ve been painted by a thousand lies.
Don’t look at me acting in shock,
You know I’m not wearing the devils frock.
When I’m on the up and I’m on the rise,
Don’t come to me looking for a prize.
You listened to the devil and you sold me out,
You should believe in me without any doubt
I won’t let myself go out unheard,
That dog is going to be running scared.
When everyone sees the lies it’s spread,
They will also see, he’s gone in the head
When it’s over and the dogs feeling sad
I won’t go out hating, even if I'm mad
This is the last round, yes the final bout.
As great lady told me once, THE TRUTH WILL OUT.
Yes, I was inurbane but not from family poor.
Of innumerable malignant deeds you were the doer!
You, urban man, on your knees you came with aim to flatter.
I was no girl capricious though stood in line the next suitor!
All charms you applied to have me towards you gravitate.
In no time you grabbed all my wealth like water to dissipate!
Perspicuous you were in making me, in face of others, the scapegoat.
Many to alienate me; your mocking mistresses, family members who gloat!
But you stupid and ungracious, you may not know this journey with you is transitory.
“Every dog has its day.” I’ve found my true love and soon he will end my sob story!

A fine morning to watch the birds
By the ocean side. My dog by my side.
Deep cool breeze
Setting ablaze my ribs
My jacket and the dog’s fur
All I needed and asked for
Perfect company and comfort
…a lonely life.
My surrounding,
Oblivion of me
And me too, void of all
Very deep in thought
Knowing not when,
I sipped from the coffee cup
Wincing in disagreement,
I jolted back to memory
By its bitter taste.
Hahahahahaha
What a way to discover.
But discovered I have.
A great deal of life is false and bitter
It’s bitter when you love
Yet, you be not loved
It’s false, thinking you are loved
But all the while, mugged
Why do you tell me
All is fair in love and war?
When I know what I saw?
The weak is the stepping stone
For the wicked
The honest a tool
In the hands of the fraud
But…
Woe to them who made you bear grudge
And…
Woe to you who got soiled in vengeance.
Nature is smart…so smart with it
For the sun must rise again
And time must heal your pain
Like the Americans will say
Every dog has its day
Dust up and take a walk
For your new lover
Might be waiting by the side walk
"GO FETCH"
Call me whatever to suit your moods
Lay me out with cuss words, “give me the goods”
Scandalize my name every place you go
“It’s a dog eat dog world” but I hate that flow
So scatter your venom to the four winds of earth
Burn the night oil you may hang in dirt
While hours creep I lie comfortable in my bed
Dead to this world, I fall asleep, well fed
Like a kid after a long, hot day in the pool
In “the dog days of summer”, keeping cool
Each day with a clean heart, I go on my way
Often, “happy as a flea in a dog house”, I stay!
My preference sometimes is to “let sleeping dogs lie”
As this is one baggage, I will not carry ‘til I die
No lasting affect do your words have on me
Wishing you and yours only the best, you see
I know who I am, and keep malice at bay
Fervently I believe that “ every dog has its day”
A man disappears where abouts unknown
Not at his work not at his home
Days pass as a passer by finds
His right leg in a country wind
Days later his left arm in a ditch
All is quiet, enquiries have hit a hitch
News comes in of a Torso being found
Beside the river on common waste ground
What posses a person to maim this way
As every dog has its day
Policing, forensics in this modern age
Will endeavour to capture this killer of rage
But what do we do when we capture them
Send them to prison as they live like men
A lethal injection, a fair way to put them down
To cleanse rightfully our cities and towns
Through out the world many families have suffered
These crimes of killers and sadistic cowards
We are taxed for our efforts in life as we work
They may never get out, but living is their perk.
