      Why I won’t go home.
   I am a loyalist
                    Tortured by iniquity
          Captive of antiquity

To Be Determined

With silent eyes,
And beckoning cries,
And apathy to see underneath,
Began a climbing grief,
Of what he once used to be,
Closed the doors,
Don’t let them see,
Open the drawers,
Find the mask to be hidden,
And they won't yell ‘good riddance’,
With a sword in hand,
He battles like a dance,
Shooting like a sparrow,
With the precision of the arrow,

Pre-Determined Donkeys

Donkeys are known for their sheer stubborness;
determination beyond compare.
I see three "saints" for donkeys, nonetheless -
Mary's transport to Bethlehem's square
and Balaam's unique donkey, quite rare.

Mary's donkey is not mentioned per se
in God’s Word, but I don’t think she walked.
Balaam’s donkey saw an angel guarding the way.
After two beatings, he sat down and balked;

Ten Seconds

I'm down on the ground,
My brain starts to pound,
It may not be fun,
But ten seconds aren't done.
10 seconds remain.

I still have time,
To arise again,
The timer hasnt hit ten,
Time isn't my friend,
8 seconds remain.

I punch hard, I kick,
I choke, I feel sick.

I try to yell, over the incessant chants,
This is the last time, my last chance.

I'm always doing nothing wrong but they always target me/

The Haze

THE HAZE

Shuffle, I shuffle through the haze; Stopping just short of the light.
I reach up, only stabbing with splinters the tiny fractions of time.  It's this, this, this, and that.
The pieces fall and gather fat-ten-ing, their bits at my feet.

Only Slade's Brain

Tim was the new judge in Deadwood Flat
Not really qualified, just a rancher at that
He first case was of the outlaw, Horace Slade
Caught red handed in a cattle raid

The jury took ten minutes to recommend the noose
Better than letting this rattlesnake loose.
Tim smoothed out his robe, asked Slade to speak

Resilience

Yes, you have fallen.
It felt like a defeat.
In time, you realize
You still have the breath of life.
Calamity has no victory.
What felt like an enormous blow
Brought you to your knees.
Determination fills your bones,
Resilience, your soul.
Broken, but not shattered,

Determined Summer

The
sun, so
warm today-
last two as well
after the rain storms
cooled off hot humid days.
It seemed the Fall had arrived;
switched off the air, put on the heat.
But Summer, smiling said, “No, not yet!
Autumn stay away- my time here's not done!”

Determined

I know it may seem crazy
Who am I not to dream
Who am I not to reach for the stars
Life is not as bad as one thinks it would be
I feel determined to race over obstacles
To knock down impossible walls
With my creator as my backbone
I know I will always stand tall
So I sit determined.
