An initiative unforeseen
Supported by the Countess Aberdeen
Motivated several politicians and were
Encouraged to convene

In the year of 1920
When issues were aplenty
Delegates backed the Cork City charter
And elected MacSwiney, our dear martyr
Yet as many were to grieve
Others would also leave

They were faced with a new mandate
Upon founding the Irish Free State
However not everyone was happy
And things got rather scrappy
With views diverging ever-more
Making it hard to keep the score

The dust took a while to settle
And tested our civic institutions’ mettle
Though issues were left unsolved
Causing city councils to be dissolved

New problems were to be addressed
That would get the people rousing
Occupied with public works and housing
Making the managers obsessed.

That’s an oversimplification
For a topic deserving of dilation
An overview of a creation
Being the Municipal Association

disrespected demons demanded
Des Moines delegates demolish D, a demi-god.
disgusted demoralized downy ducks
demoted demons, discussed by Danny Dod.
Des Moines demonstrators decreed demons delightful
while downing demi-tasse.
D, a demi-god, demoted demure ducks
during democratic demonstration, of Doss.

Finally Over

So, Brexit is finally over and it with
a sigh of relief we see them leave the scene
pain in the ass for too long.
 The haughty manners and arrogance
of the British delegates who never agreed
on anything delegates from other nations
always demanding preferential treatment,
became a constant irritant for others.
You see, Britain was once an imperial nation
And it is their blood to push others about.
Just like the USA does today.

A Rattling Rhyme

Once upon a time in the United States,
Came a chap from England, a Sir Master Bates…
For they opened the doors at the guarded gates,
Off to Washington with his great debates…

Too much of a scholar to have any mates,
Always searching the Capital to find some dates…
Thus with a firm upper hand, he associates,
Trying to get relief as he desperately deliberates…

A silent sensitive scholar for he lavishly liquidates,
Within the chamber of commerce as he humiliates…
As he puts a showering show for his delegates,
And therefore cleaning up his act as he masculates

Within the body caucus, he deeply demonstrates,
Like a volcanic eruption, he modestly motivates…
But the lava is lukewarm for his speech emaciates,
Time to retire for the day as the caucus updates.

Police Boats

There’s a police boat on the river
With a flashing bright blue light
Keeping watch to guarantee this week
That all will be all right.

For the General Assembly’s
Taking place at the U.N.
And if trouble happens, no one knows
The where, the how or when.

So the cops and even Coast Guard
On the water do patrol
With the safety of the delegates
Their one abiding goal.

Yet I cannot help but wonder
If they think there is a chance
That some bad guys would attack
Via that watery expanse.

Guess they’re covering the bases
For you never can be sure
Though those boats with police and weapons
Don’t make me feel more secure.

Elegant traditions slowly fade.
A life of service, a worthy trade.
Helping others is its own reward;
inherent virtue can't be ignored.

Wear a tie, tip your hat,
shine your shoe, don a spat.
That's the proper way to do;
adopt a cultured world view.

Bow to kings, royals 'n mates;
respect heads of state, delegates.
Greet keen chums only by first name
but global icons with refrain.

Represent with pride your workplace;
they'll recall a friendly face.
Of course, you're free to have some fun,
remember to square your cummerbund!

Tropical Heats

Iron grips of discipline is strained.
Heats of the moment is sparsely contained.
Powers are overlooked in childish innocence.
Tolerance is not for mockery from aberrance.
Simmering hope and openness of freedom.
Alas, who can stop these steps to martyrdom....
Hearts are wrenching breathlessly in treason
To the stern mind ever destined to reason.
Shivering soul hugs the heat of its own cage
while cool dumb sheets bear frustration of rage.
Waves work overnight to convey words
and unfortunate hearts solve but crosswords!
Sure, it’s never eternal as eternity is abstract
And the heart often knows this bare fact.
Pack it all... emotions in depth of dark grooves!
Time now for a move as conscience proves,
Once again, rule is for a world that materialised.
Insensitive to tyranny that penalised.
Everlasting game; subduing the essence of humanity
while unscathed, it strives to stand in its own dignity!

Note: This poem came upon inspirations derived from my stay with international delegates in India and my wonderful exchange of customs and culture.

Symposia

Symposia

Return of yearly symposia with arrival of fall
The dates are announced already on net and print
Topic this time is racism that yet bears it's imprint
Distinguished delegates from varied strata of society have been given a call

Introspection is needed to bring equality in this world
Racism is a grave problem of modern times
Guests will be putting their views apart from age -old paradigm
Let's hope sprouting fresh thoughts on this intense topic unfurl

Securities are going to be tight only press and students allowed
Starting at mid-noon shall continue for hours late
Near the venue not a tiny bird can flap wings on the declared date
Do not forget the invitation cards remember we shall be scoured

The Political Class

The Political class

The problem with politicians is we need
someone to represent us and they do for a reward
the power and prestige.
Delegates speak fluently give promises they have
no intention of keeping and a prone to corruption
and will always do the bidding of the haves.
In the corridors of power, they strike deals which
are hidden for us and when called out they lies
and we are often too willing to believe them.
Of course, we have democracy and elect someone else
who say what we like to hear, but they the new brooms
somehow blend in with the rest of their class
and many run their own businesses that, they say, is
because they work hard, I call it skulduggery.
President Macron of France is a good example, silver-tongued
and charming he pretends to want a just society
when the truth is he only represents big business
and doesn`t bother to talk to the lower classes except
for platitudes and when we discover the truth, it is too late
a politician who has no ideology is only in for this
for control and when they fail feel no shame just
go back making money elsewhere.

SYMPOSIA

There will be upcoming international symposia
on the emerging technology of efficient fastener.
This is my idea and I am acting as the convener,
kept the topic open, not restricted only to zipper.

This is personal invitation from me to you to come
as you will surely find the deliberations interesting
for there will be eminent delegates demonstrating
new techniques of binding as the recent invention.

You will benefit to learn skill of tying by taking part
for a fascinating session will be organized in the end
on the ways how the chattering lips can be fastened
if your spouse cannot keep the prattling mouth shut.

The Blast of a Cast

The blast of a cast aghast with fuss on a blunderbuss
Flew and grew a crew who rued chances and stances to discuss
Differences in conciliation conferences that coerced cooperation
Amplified by the serenity and dignity delegates drew from desperation.

The blast of a cast aghast with fuss on a boss bus
Flew and grew a crew who chimed chances and stances to fight fuss
Concealed in deals and peals of laughter undaunted daughters dismissed
When matrimony matrons measured erasures of kisses missed.

The blast of a cast aghast with bling on strings
Flew and brewed a concoction whose cadence retrieved riveted rings
When hearts in reward ramparts opted for votes and pots of conciliation
Empowered to drown doubts among strategy scouts who touted reconciliation.

The blast of a cast aghast with rum on conundrum drums
Flew and brewed a libation that lifted spirits among tankard tantrums
Tempered among embers in September to remember responsibilities
Assumed under sums and plums plucked, packed and tucked among domestic duties.

The Last Kick of a Flying Horse, Not the Last Kick of a Dying Horse

- matric dance 2017

We are Ambassadors,
We are Ambassadors Embarking on a new journey,
Reaching out, towards the future
That is glittering like the sun
Its warmth melts resolutions of today
We could mold awards for tomorrow
Walking on a new track
Leaving better tracks for our brothers and sisters
The first 3 laps we've ran with fears
Now let's pause and oil up the gears,
Before hitting the lap that is the last
Destiny is not a precast
We kiss no frogs,
Excellence's delegates
We bite a bunch of disposals
2017 is ours or the hard way
Flocking for the future,
Becoming a rainbow on the color grey
Becoming the delight of the day
Sweeping the dreams in one place,
Not forgeting to keep more sweat on the face
Bitterness fading, eating sweetness, I call that being fruitful
It is in our hands to make the future beautiful
We only got one chance,
But before we can - let's have a dance!

Butterfly

I endure the presence of caterpillars while it delegates in such power
If I wish to become acquainted with the butterfly I'd treat it like a self propelled flower
Seeking life from barren ground
There's one that holds destiny that'll soon be found
Never could imagine one suffer on; in earthly fate
Although there's evil that surrounds us in bitter pain of agony hate
That would break the bonds to breathe and live
And then we'd be reborn again with the option to forgive
Find that God that goodness brings
A chance for change the hope of wings
As minutes pass by,the butterfly landed to my nose
She was as delicate as silk and bright as a rose
I heard the flutters to my ears
And yet the warmth in great saturation lingered and never disappeared
Let it feel safe and gravitate it to me like iron shavings
That extra daylight that would bring in daylight savings
A fallen blossom returning to home
I'd treasure with me forever and keep it as my own

It's Not How We Do Believe
By Franklin Price
10/30/2016

It's not how we do believe
But in whom we do believe
That will get us through heaven's pearly gates
It's not entering the church
Every time the doors are open
Or listening to Christ's preaching delegates

If we need the extra hedge
If daily life's driving a wedge
In your belief that Jesus is the way the light
Then church is there for you
And it's something you should do
To confirm for you that your path is right

The path is doing all we can
While believing in the Lord
Who died on that lonely cross for you and me
That he gave his life for us
To forgive us of our sins
And when we die we will in heaven be

It's honoring his way
Doing good from day to day
Doing all we can to help our fellow man
Honor home and family
Be the best friend we can be
To join Jesus on the day we kick the can

Don't chastise my having fun
For me that's how it's done
Jesus wouldn't want us sad but very droll
If we practice what we preach
Heaven's well within our reach
Jesus saves our very undeserving souls

Three Words For You

I realised my loving habit on resurgence,
The habit of a loner, never in reference,
An offbeat of people's associates,
An evaluation of oneself,no delegates.
It's a feeling i've had for long,
That sweet feeling,so hard to go,
The feeling that restored my soul,
Off banquets,with love galore.

To my inner me,it resusciated,
To the dead in me,it dissociated,
To the blood in me,it started a race,
A stampede in my heart, but still i face,
Still,i face,
That sweet flashy feeling,
When my heart's at pace,
At pace with the jittery feeling,
The feeling of love that makes my heart impede.
You are like a marshy reed,
And like a momentous seed, you crop my soul,
And with a sole reason, you pound on my soul,
With a sole reason,i let you go on.

You are like a star,
The beauty at night which leaves a mark,
Your beauty a fact, you beat the stars,
You light me up,i'm never in dark.
Your looks are spectacular,
I tingle in excitement,
Your eyes are marvelous,
Forever i see bliss,
Your voice of an angel,
From my heart,a rapturous applause,
One thing is clear,
You are one so dear,
Three words can say it,
My heart has said it,

I love you.
