Distant bird calls echoed in the silent hills,
Evening’s crimson light illuminates the fields,
A small child dances under the autumn moon.
The world lives on with the dawning of each day.
How is it that the pain is still in my heart?

In passing, hearts risk their very essence, their colors, their breathe,
Love who touched the soul, then moved on, toward heaven’s hungry light,
Souls soon reflect the love and peace found when passing into God’s light

That Fatal Year

2023 brought sorrow that broke me. Death defeated thoughts who say we’re unshakable, stronger than death. We want to think the end, for us – for our people, is inconceivable. Yet, death calls and we must answer. It refuses to be snubbed. This year brought more personal dealings with death than I care to remember!

Your Never Know How Much I Miss You

Your never know how much i miss you,
I carried on after your death like there was no issue,
But the sudden realisation you was never coming back
filled  my heart full of pain and my life turned black.

I held the dark night as my companion
Close to my chest
My jaw clenched
When they let me go
I just had my skin and my bones
To call home
Slowly it would decay, 
with death
It was unsophisticated 
To scream from my grave
I lay still 
For stillness to take my soul away
For darkness to consume my breath 
I prayed to

Even In Death

I confess… Like joy fading, your memory
Protests, reminds me to smile, to listen
When prayers are hoping to whisper
Peace into the rain, erasing the lingering ache
Stirring the stars, like lightening flashes
Preventing the shadows from rising, unruly memories

A Nightshads Song

Winter rains lover
	the cold north wind
	fought against the thought of warmth
in which we would embrace again.

It holds steadfast to the slow
	beating of the window pane
		drums loudly out thoughts
	leaving us numb.

Ice courses through veins
	long forgotten canals
		whom once held court for promises
	of love stricken stars
that fell from above.

Silence is left shouting
	deaf tones 
		of moments
	long held to endless

Suicide

Hope what is hope? 
Something we all wish for 
But can't get in the end 
In the pool of depression 

In the midst of darkness
I cried and cried 
No one to hear 
No one to smile
No one to have a shoulder on 
No one to cry
I died 
Unhappily 

Gun on the head 
Rope on the

Funeral

Love a prison inside of me
Death, the one who set me free

Monsters

Do not speak to me of freedoms lost
Until you have watched
A mother drop to her knees
And scream so loud
it comes out silent 
And it is deafening 
Because even though there is no breath 
Left in her to carry the sound 
Everything decibel of her grief 
wraps itself around your throat 
as you try desperately to

Publishes stars
Reflecting the dance
Against a tangerine 
Moon, longing for
Dawn and truth

Dark as the circles
Underneath sunken eyes
Who only see
Insomnia’s gloom
Coloring the night
In melancholy and dread 
For moments of sleepless 
Fists raised toward angst 

Dark as the black 
Cat who is haunted 
By the shadow 
Of superstition 
Saying bad luck follows

Never Forget

Unknown kinds of animals, you ate

we claimed thousands of you
with different names
death plague, Ebola, Spanish flu

In the shadows of my mind
I see there painted black
Suffering as if he’s blind
In the darkness is his knack

Pain and sorrow he brings
Knowing that we dread
The day when he rings
The bell whom we’ve fled

Our demise brings him glee
Like it will bring others grief
From him we cannot flee
