Corny At The Beach

The Cornelius's were bathing in the sun 
The husband said, I am cornier than you, Hun 
She said, try to butter me up, my dear 
And whisper "I love you" into my ear 
But if you pop up on the beach again- we're done

Yikes

I miss her.
Maybe I should call her...

Are My Poems Somewhat Corny?

I speak in parables and occasionally tell lies,
Holy scriptures housing flames as rolling papers, 
Spent a few nights eating nothing but salt from shakers. 
Used to pray for the light but now disrespect favours, 
Pay off my therapist when I need a compliment on my behaviour. 
Yeah,
Sugar crystal bites and a diet of capers,

Corny, Hairy and Schmo

Three funny guys, Curly, Larry, and Mo
Slapstick comedians, you all must know
But there are three circus clowns
Who create mayhem and frowns
The crowd calls them Corny, Hairy and Schmo

Corny thinks he's the wily ring leader
Acting as if he's a Walmart greeter
Talking like he's really cool
But people laughed at the fool
Gobbled by the lion called 'Man Eater'

Corny, the Scarecrow

Corny, the scarecrow,
Was a fun and playful soul,
Stuffed with corn shucks,
And anchored to a long pole.

Corny, the scarecrow,
Is a creepy, daunting sort,
Made of last year’s crops,
Bathed in morning’s dewdrops,
He’s never had an escort.

There must have been some wonderful
In those overhauls he’s wearing,
Because when he put them on his form,
No other scarecrow was worth comparing.

Oh, Corny,

Corny Complaint

Even if some rare corningware may be hypothetically worth a LOT
what ordinary person would buy it, cook with it, or let it get hot??

Corny Valentine

corny valentine, you are my favorite said hawk.
lend me an ear, honey, but do not stalk

shuck on down to Iowegian town
give me a wave, a smile, not a frown

corny valentine, you are so neat
with your rounded kernels, ever so sweet.

Lets Go See Corny Boy

Let’s go to Mitchell she suggested to me.
I rolled my eyes; we had just had tea.
I know what you’re after, you’re not fooling me.
She is in love with Happy Corn, I could plainly see.

He is adorable! She told me. And always full of joy.
He is a great dancer, an all-American boy!

Sentimentality

There is hope beyond the words
Spoken by hearts, afraid and lost
In the silent thoughts, the darkness
Where doubts cast clouds, shadows
Across the sun’s reflections, prayers
For sweetest faith restored, the open door
To light that silences the turbulence
Of a past filled with grief and regret
Shame that sucks out all the wealth
Wisdom alive beyond the guilt, the distress
A life
