Sentimentality

There is hope beyond the words Spoken by hearts, afraid and lost In the silent thoughts, the darkness Where doubts cast clouds, shadows Across the sun’s reflections, prayers For sweetest faith restored, the open door To light that silences the turbulence Of a past filled with grief and regret Shame that sucks out all the wealth Wisdom alive beyond the guilt, the distress A life lived beyond the words, weathered Poetry, prose, promises of psalms Colored by hues of saccharine truth Soppy fidelity to a maudlin youth Sentimentality Poetry Contest Sponsored by Julia Ward May 21, 2022

Well done, Gina. Well done! You have painted some word pictures appropriately describing sentimentality. Good luck in the contest.
