End Credits

On the last day of the week
you were the first person to ask me
on a movie date

and this was the first time I refrained from hesitation
the first time in a long time I've loaned my bones expose

and as it plays on my unforgivable fidgeting
begins twisting in positions in my seat
trying to lay my head on your chest
	                             without breaking my neck

                            and I’m sorry I couldn’t just
				                    become comfortable
and I’m sorry it’s about more than
				                    just the movie
and I’m sorry I was more focused
			                            on what I wanted taken
				                    than was capable of giving
and I’m sorry all I can do is sputter off
                                                    apologies after you've
				                    long since stopped listening

Wynter rose in concrete

Did you hear about the rose
that bloomed in Harlem-
through concrete cracks, through chaos,
through prayers gone thin in steam?
A winter rose
shouldn’t bloom in this blaze-
but you, baby girl, unfold anyway.
Concrete beneath you,
sirens above,
a million ghosts whispering tough love.
You glide past bodegas and busted swings,
past aunties hollering from painted stoops,
past brothers pacing—palms tight with truth.
I watch your curls bounce down One-One-Four,
your laugh a lavender miracle,
soft, sure,
still surviving-
thriving-
in a garden that forgets to welcome
delicate things.
Still, I worry-
that the city might carve its name
into your softness
before you know
you are sacred.
That the sidewalk might swallow you
before you burst.
But Wynter,
you are no damsel,
no flower waiting for rescue.
You are named for frost,
raised in fire,
rooted in rhythms older than this street.
You rise with sunlight,
spin storms into dance,
 and grow wild-
like you’ve always known
you could.

Love

You are the light that fills my days,
the warmth that wraps around my soul.
In your eyes, I find a home, a place where
time stops and hearts speak in whispers only
we can hear. Love grows like roots beneath
us, deep and quiet, but strong enough to
lift us when we fall. In your touch, I feel
the pulse of the world, beating with the
promise of forever, tender and true.
Together, we are whole, as one, in love,
               always.

O I
am so
sad now
that she left
for up above.
Twenty years
is a long time
to love a cat,
this sweet.
A kitten came
that fit my hand
all fluffy and purring,
she loved to cuddle
all the long nights.
I held her in my arms
till her body was stone.
And now I go to the place
where I buried my beauty.
I told my friends- no, no,
more cats for this here girl.
They say just give it time!
Oh, oh my- days are empty,
sometimes, I hear her soft
meow call, calling for me,
and that breaks my heart.
  Tears,
        now
          fall
       fall
          fall
        like
          rain
            on
               my
                   new
                       wee
                          cat.

How to Make Love to a Didgeridoo 19

She snaps like a brine tendon,
spilling embryo chords across the basalt shelf.
Tongues of nacre split her sides,
each vertebra strung with gravid silence.

Kelp-blind, she threads the continental rift,
her fingernails seeded with unfinished continents.
Magma foams in the pouch of her pelvis,
grinding up vowels like crushed coral.

The Khasis
and their living root bridges,
woven whispers of time,
a testament to patience
and respect for growth.

The Santhals
and their vibrant saris,
each thread a story told,
a tapestry of dances,
a chorus of ancient songs.

The Gonds
and their painted walls,
stories etched in ochre,
a language of the earth,
a legacy of dreams.

The Todas
and their gentle herds
a symphony of bells,
a rhythm of the mountains,
a peace beyond words.

The Siddas
of Karnataka's hills,
a whisper in the wind,
a pearl of wisdom in their eyes,
a connection to the stars.

The Naga
and their warrior grace,
a symphony of drums,
a dance of fierce devotion,
a spirit unyielding.

The Jarawa
of the Andaman Islands,
a connection to the sea,
a whisper in the waves,
a rhythm of the tides.

The Rabha
and their bamboo flutes,
songs of love and longing,
a melody of the forest,
a dance beneath the moon.

The Bhils
and their bow and arrow,
a hunter's heart and soul,
a respect for the wild,
a harmony with the earth.

Oh, these are the things that whisper in my soul,
even in the city's clamour.
In their enduring wisdom,
I find my own.

The final Destination

As this train will come to a stop unexpectedly in the happy hour,
And the station is a thousand miles more, yet not there but,
The urge to go back and book again, but how?
True, nobody can know, nobody will know
That Lions and bears cry too
And they crave just
A little love and
A hug

End!
Not yet
Not yet the end
Only the beginning to a
Long journey, that I embark on
I am sitting, looking, waiting for a train
One that will take me to the far end, dream land
One filled with ethereal culmination of beauty unseen
And in my holy mountain, none bruises another’s feet on account of,
The weight that made the temple to crush cruelly in the ruins of former Egypt
None shall point a finger to the least of the unimportant, oh yes
None shall falsely accuse even the condemned of Misri
It is a world filled with wonder and beauty beyond
And there we will cheer for a past forgotten
Beauty that will make the soul merry
Merry for a beginning of the end
And end to the beginning of
The end of a long cry
A flawless smile
Beauty of the
End

Premium MemberChalk On Concrete

Two wonders,
born into our lives twelve and
ten years ago.
A girl and a boy,
my grandchildren,
in the little house in Haw Creek,
I held them less than a year old
as they slept on my chest,
as I walked them up and down
the creaking wooden floor hallway.

Soft lullabies, baby board books,
spontaneous laughter so endearing.
Their drawings in chalk on concrete,
playing in their yard of all seasons,
watching His birds raise their young,
being the blessed Lord's creations themselves.

Oh, years, can you slow down some?
My daughter, son-in-law, and I,
we love their precious youth.
In the priceless art of children,
their drawings in chalk on concrete,
etched across our hearts. ~
