What?

Where's?

It Didn't Start That a-way...

Competitive Coooool.

I Was Going To
Explain How I'm
So Easily Entertained...

But, You Seduced Meee...
Competitive Coooool You
Keep All That Up...!

Hey!

Premium Member competitive singing shows

my favorite tv shows are competitive singing shows
I recognize almost no songs because I do not sing
It feels strange even to me
but these shows hold me hostage
I am fascinated by the enthusiasm
the competitive banter of the judges
seeing who the winners choose for their coach
My favorites rarely get top prize
Two of them were Adam Lambert and Jesse Blaze Snyder
I thought they both earned the win
These two are my favorites years later

As we lay prostrate
Tabula rasa-blank page
Word play we engage

Sleight of hand we write
Together with tongue magic
Comic and tragic

Poetic dual
Like the bards of Vienna
We've burnt sienna

We foster and play
With our words and our phrasing
Not mean, not praising

We engage with rhyme
Each other's druthers, "Respect!"
To urge, not neglect

Sometimes we flirt and
Sometimes we fling dirt, but me
Cajolery, you

Sully the bully
Flatter, not as indicters
We are cowriters

So in this haiku
I don't offer you some prose
But hand you a rose

Articulation

The anticipation should have
        been conveyed to the audience
          his audience was observant to
          his developing character which
           allowed him to move through
obstacles to become the champion we
                   believed him to be
           Movements that are fluent and
                convincing: pose to pose
          Never overlapping the staging
           In sequence spares those who
       marvel performance over character
drawing lines to speak the story told
         Spoiling the audience with familiar
             Moves and exciting them with
               difference in opposition to
boredom with a reality of self
                     preservation under the
                   guise of being extraordinary
                          stands a sporting
                    professional eager to be
                              seen as best !

Leaf dies in air

Trees going bare

Death stalks the woods

Of those athletically good

Sweating summer heat

In games where they compete

Never do they cheat

Being honest and true

Acting cool

Laughing fools

Champions determined

Life lessons learning

Decision final and confirmed

Hardware issue no longer a concern

Northern success exposed

Confederates propose

Move inside

Red lights will guide

Scores made

Making the grade

Finally, a trade

Check signed, saying paid

Shutting mouth

Going south

Community warm

Staying in University dorm

Will make this undergraduate program a winner

Before the all-inclusive meal plan dinner

Then off to the library and study

Learn how to make, investment money

Earning a degree, that is what is funny

Since making field goals really wasn’t a realistic thing

Along with not being able to sing

But books in print

Will hint

Proper direction

After securing academic protection

baby elephant wanted to play
the soccer coach could not figure out a way
the girls insisted, and so he backed down a bit
baby elephant would not release the ball
which means the competitive parents all had a fit
coach took flack all that fall

Premium Member A poetry war

A competitive poet with ego galore
is always "one upping" to even some score.
They disguise their sarcasm in metaphors.
Most of the time I politely ignore as
no one needs a poetry war.

Premium Member An Outcast

The digital world comes
And an old man seems to become
A social outcast
Using a telephone instead of a handphone
Using a typewriter instead of a computer
Writing a letter instead of an email
Reading newspaper instead of electronics news
Having posting service instead of express delivery
Using a cash purchase instead of an e-wallet
You can't say
He is left behind in life
He is ignorant and careless
He isn't competitive
Actually he has his own world
To follow and to cling to
He is born in a different world
And lives there till now
He will change quickly
If the present world is happier, safer and more hopeful
But he just wonders
If the present world a paradise to live

Winning every race, you just may not;
What’s important is giving all you got.

In running the race, you must never give up;
The will to go on, never let anything interrupt.

Premium Member Conversation Turns Competitive

Conversation today took a competitive turn.
My daughter we saying she should clean something.
I talked her out of it, she only has so many hours off a week.
Why do something you don’t want to do?

She tells me that she has a mess on the floor that has been there for hours.
I tell her about my paint brushes I spilled on my art studio floor.
I walked over them and broke them so I ordered more.

How long have they been there? She asks.
Three, maybe six months.
I have candy bar wrappers under my bed, she confides.
We have canned goods under the bed dated 1997, I tell her.

I spilled pop on the carpet and left it there a week ago, she says.
Competition in flat out full mode now.
I have a family of raccoons living in my car.
By now we are laughing, getting some fun out of it.

The exterminators came In here last week and said “OOOHHHHH!” She tells me.
Our mice are running up with garbage, asking that we please use the trash cans,
I reply.
Thanks Mom, she says. “I guess I do not have to clean yet.”

Premium Member Table Turning Relegation Tease

There was a buzz in the air
About Astin’s upcoming weekend affair
A Friday night match
Where Astin was such a catch
Lured in with bait
Wolves prowling looking great
But alas a mistake
A correction needed to make
Someone wanted cake
Decided to change plans to an afternoon luncheon
Wolves and Astin hiring catering for the munch on
Bags were packed at the Canary’s pad
Waiting for a downtown cab
Going to a positive place
Maybe a championship to build a successful case
When it heard
From a news worthy credible bird
Hornets did not distance themselves from the demotion third
Apparently a few glasses of Claret wine
Relaxed the stingers at the time
When the clock struck seventy three
Hornets grabbed the honey for a spot of tea
In the ball it went
After the purple and red posted it sent
One to nothing
Shutting them out which was something
Leaving the relegation decision tight
Making the next footbally month a competitive fight
Right?

Premium Member Poetic Correspondence With the Competitive Equestrian Digital Magazine

Such a wonderful sight
A horse going into flight
Captured in a lens
Documenting by the writer's pen
For once a horse was used for war
And now has a prescence of peace with a score
May we continue the beauty of a horse show
Snickering at others athletic events saying 'what do you really know"
You see it is the beauty of a horse that can never cease
With its artistic message reminding us all of the word peace

When pondering the evils of Covid 19
Does anyone wonder about the number of last century?
We move so fast
The great USA with world class
Give us your tired your poor the lady inscribed
Our country is paved with gold and that was no lie
Written word was replaced with audio
And a screen having visuals that were naughty o
There once was a buggy with a horse
That disappeared when the engine was a perfect source
Soon we took flight
When Wilbur and Orville figured it out just right
This sparked imagination
And going into the space was the new world passion
Today when we were dealing with reality
Covid 19 quietly was doing the tally
A bug looking for a fight
Wiped everything out that was in sight
People have died others cried
When they have been trapped inside
America needs to put on its thinking cap
As it takes that long Covid 19 work at home nap

Premium Member My Car Is Competitive

A most competitive tool is my car.
She really hates to be passed on the road.
Whether we are traveling near or far,
Passing turns her into an evil toad.

My right foot presses pedal to the floor.
Doing a hundred, or maybe a bit more.
She throws logic out the window pretty fast.
I cringe my teeth when a semi dares to pass.
