Richard the Third
was cruelly absurd.
He merely on whim,
disposed of who opposed him.
Cardinal Bourchier,
as matter of procedure,
did Richard’s bids
and hid the kids.
Henry Tudor,
Richard’s extruder,
challenged the Ring
and then became King.
The End.
Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka
Seemed sturdy as a *Tonka-
Yet he gave kids minty sugar blades of grass
While fizzy lifting drinks made them rise with gas!

In a window with a bellrope ready sits old blind Captain Cat
calling in the day, with his old yarns wagging on the door mat.
He hears the postman's rat-a-tat, kids' feet skipping on cobble stones,
all the secrets leaking out windows, in furtive dulcet tones.
Dylan Thomas's beloved character 'Captain Cat', in the radio play for voices 'Under Milk Wood'.
Missouri lad, Tom Sawyer -
these days could have been or maybe would have NEEDED a lawyer!
He got the neighbor kids to think it fun to paint a fence for him,
and with his friend, Huck Finn, played pranks on a whim.
Mark Twain's beloved character in his novel "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"
He’s called Santa, Fatman, at times Saint Nick
His flying reindeer are what’s truly sick!
Kids get Santa’s Naughty or Nice List drift
Kindness becomes them, for an awesome gift

Christmas Eve

We all remember Captain Kangaroo
who lived in his treasure house as opposed to a shoe
he was a most enthusiastic storyteller
when kids went to sleep he’d head for the cellar

Casper the Friendly Ghost
was youthful and wanted one thing the most;

Carol Brady
was a real cool lady
that included the likes
of three kids from Mike
Alice the maid
I’m sure she prayed
for a few days off
when those kids would cough

Laura Ingles Wilder
Her prose were milder
Than poetry or verse
Intended to coearce
Louisa May Alcott
Wrote tales I bought
About women and boys
With hearts sure to poise
Miss Nancy Drew
Wasn't such a shrew
She solved every crime
In her own spare time
Little Trixie Belden
Mysteries were well done
Dancing with shadows
Which she would expose
The brothers Grimm
Wrote tales that did brim
With joy, hope and love
Sent down from heaven above
In the chimney Santa got stuck
Sorry kids you’re out of luck
Guess you’re going to have to wait
Till Santa is thin and loses some weight

Not for Contest
Billy Joel's stories were top notch
Always enjoyed his music very much
He claimed only the good die young
So what have you been up to my old chum?
Grew up with bands like Three Days Grace
With mad Gontier screaming in my face
Bobbed my head to the heavy sound
But the constant rage really brought me down
Now there's kids like Justin Bieber
I claim bubonic, they say it's fever
Not his "music" that makes people stare
It's because of that ridiculous hair!
W C Fields loved his booze
And was known to be a recluse
He despised women, kids and mutts
Of that there were no ifs, ands or buts

Their kids can’t figure mornings from nights

'Tis said that William Claude Dukenfield was fond of his rum.
A healthy nip morning, noon and night was his rule of thumb!
He was better known as W. C. Fields who was always on the skids,
And despised nearly everything and everyone including innocent kids!
