Chitchat Poems

Premium MemberSpeculation

Close together, we chat.
Relatives, cousins - our mothers: the twins.

In the wind, ghosts;
we speculate.

We wonder while we
chitchat and munch.

Distant memories
of practical jokes, tokes;
days before she ran away;
& not questioning her
upon her return.

Sitting on my lavender bedspread;
laughing, listening; forlorn-ing.

Her i.d. tags, army surplus look,
blonde hair; my long locks, dark brunette.

In the Summer week,
we speculate on ghosts;
something we know nothing about.

We stood, took turns
standing over his coffin -
her brother joked
to relieve the tense.

All together, our gang;
our mother’s brother was twenty-five…

My cousin was fifty-two;
in the wind, ghosts,
I’ve surpassed

speculation, leans differently today,
knowing one day,
this world will fade,
as another comes into view.

Close together, we’ll chat,
as relatives speculate.

Premium MemberWorries Whimsical Woes Vogon Poetry

Written: January 10, 2025

                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wenches of Whimsy and Woe
In the world of the fiddled gruntingly,
where micturitions dance,
and arty yawning plurdled gabbleblotchits,
lurgid bees buzz with mordacious glee.
Eardges justle and grumble,
festering infectious organ squealers,
gnawing at the edges excruciatingly,
Intergalactic highways scream,
echoing in their lavish friars.
Gandersalps gleam in the grim groggy gloom
graceful gliding gallant swarupincrafts majestically soar
whoop, wail, wassail wondrous rowan wood
cormulent chitchat flickers like flames
Elevate the mundane,
let foolishness dissolve into the ether,
In the charm of nostalgia, we find the replevy abyss,
Paraprosdokian twists lift us higher.
Triskaidekaphobia slumbers wrapped in jest.
Schadenfreude influences us as
katabatic whispers from the abyss fade away
callipygian figures emerge,
bringing moments of unexpected joy.
Vessels overflowing with dreams,
countehsee the orbs and clusters
while Guinevere gazes, sly and wise,
clipshank the past, whitebootz to come
Here as we meander in whimsical unfolding
I’m a fan of that background sound,
the world’s underlying rhythm;
Life’s glass has a melodic rim
amplified with every shot downed;
To the sharps in the air I’m bound,
it’s who I am I’m cool with that;
The wallflower among chitchat,
still I crave the quiet sometimes;
In the moments that static climbs;
solitude can calm a hood rat.
The world needs a whole lot more love and laughter
Spread it around each and every chance you get
Whether it's a waitress in a restaurant
Or the cashier at the local supermarket
Or a helpful teller in your local bank
We must always try to brighten their day with humour
Or some friendly chitchat and a happy face
It really doesn't take much
Just a smile and utter a cheer “How's your day?”
The reaction will be worth the small fortune
In return it will make YOUR day better as well!
If more people would do this instead of grumbling
And complaining about this and that
Guess it's human nature but rise above it
We're only on this earth for a very short while
So live love laugh and be happy...
It's contagious!
Jobbing Poets
I recall an earlier city than this,
that smaller metropolis had to be
plugged into black handsets for distant listening.
Often, I think that his city is a concrete megaphone,
one we have made from fabricated conversations.
Denizens daily must recycle themselves,
with ever louder words.
A few artisan poets,
with their mortar and spades,
grout the cracked and leaking windpipes,
hoping to calm the roar of a casual chitchat.
They labor on, to shore-up crumbling words,
before they all unplug themselves
from silence forever.
The sweetness of doing nothing is hard,
to take chitchat in your head and discard;
embracing doing nothing is divine,
oh, I love silence where nothing is heard !
Not an idleness but letting thoughts twine,
to lay in a cozy place and recline;
this is a good skill that can be bring peace,
oh, lay in quietness sweetly supine !
Perhaps a walk in nature is release,
we need this as life's worries just increase;
oh, why not watch the swans and ducks drifting,
and all your sad life scars will soon decrease !
Do this and all your cares will be lifting,
your outlook attitude will be shifting;
find the great value of your relaxed mind,
though, sad memories will be resisting !
 "When we are young, we try so hard for everything to be perfect, and when it isn’t we hurt." Quote by poet
A green world vast and beautiful awaits.
Invitations sent out; oh, such a thrill.
Preparing for a party all so still,
Fun feeling, so perfect that life creates.
They dance to the tempo of the music.
The table dressed in lace, a vase of blue
And yellow daisies, green ribbon weave through.
They impatiently wait, the clock does tick.
Welcome guest trickled in full of laughter.
Small chitchat, singing, games they did partake.
Small candles flicker on the pink, white cake.
Party was done, out they followed after.
I want to write a poem sweet little kitty cat,
but you are on my cluttered writing desk:
and on my papers you have just sat !
With you in a dance position arabesque,
we chitchat, chat, and play tat for tat !
Please, will you now move my furry aristocrat ?
Contrapuntal Poem
Contrapuntal Poem Form Attempt 1
Pat's "New" Hat
A short disagreement
“I’ve no time for your senseless chitchat”
Nodding horizontal heads were sent
“Explain yourself you dirty rat”
Out of shape we both were bent
“Best of luck against my baseball bat”
Waiting for a compliment
“You really think you look good, Pat?”
Misunderstanding what was meant
“You cannot assume I meant that”
Or what was the real intent
“Just give me back my hat”
Premium MemberLife May Be Simple
Sometimes life may be simple
Especially after you recovered from
A certain sickness
Being bedded too long is dull
Sickness makes you suffer and worry
Sickness is a burden to everyone
You find many things not meaningful
You have to rest for a further journey
You have to regain energy on and off
Not to work for greeds and desires
The devils of your heart
A cup of coffee is wonderful
A chitchat is luxurious
A gathering is excellent
A prayer is heartening warm
A poem is a simple gift
Let's take a short break
To enjoy a simple and leisure day
Before it's too late
Poets In Combat-Sigh
Poets, you've been expressing your opinions on politics
Some were very nasty, like oil and water, they don't mix
Some 'discussions' have gotten rude and very hostile
It's truthful facts vs. fictional lies,  all spewed with bile
Can everyone stop bickering and put your theories aside
Believe what you will, but stop being sarcastic and snide
It doesn't make a difference what any of us choose to think
The world is out of order right now, completely out of sync
I'm annoyed by being told, "covid is just a hoax." It's real!
Go ask the families of those who have died, how they feel
Don't send me to videos with what you consider is proof
I'm capable of reaching my own conclusions. I'm not aloof
America isn't gone. We're much more resilient than that
Our Constitution wasn't written as words of silly chitchat
We've not been destroyed by acts of deplorable lunacy
We've no need of a funeral, so don't prepare a eulogy
Poems and blogs that cause tension, worries and woe
will not lead us to write better poetry, so just let it go
Please stop using your pen like a weapon; a baseball bat
to grand slam insults. Poets, we should not be in combat
