Our essence is bliss, caged in a trance state,
living in a vessel borrowed from earth,
wherein hypnotised, we know not our worth,
as we’re twirled about in fierce winds of fate.
As a child our heart was bubbling in mirth,
by day and night and never did abate
but as we grew, fear forms began to bait,
so the cause of angst we had to unearth.
We struggled and strived to set our soul free,
so plunged into the void of cessation,
poised in silence, vibrance animated,
seeking no outcomes and roaming carefree,
our aliveness itself, meditation,
thus discovering God’s light as fated.
Eons having been spent in hypnotic trance,
with indulgence in illusions the cause,
no wonder stooped is our stance,
since we opt not to pause.
Desire births thought,
which then feeds our ego,
which is why we are fear fraught,
attachment to objects unable to let go.
Mistaken that we are only this body-mind,
we have become addicted to thinking,
from pulsations of love misaligned,
blocking awareness unblinking.
If we but pause to reflect,
befriending silence the mists clear,
whence seeing that we are shipwrecked,
invoking grace, God’s presence then draws near.
God dwells in our heart so our search to jump start,
poised in silence as pure awareness self-aware,
deeming all souls as one and none apart,
with universal consciousness we pair.
God and we are already one,
so in truth there is nothing for us to do,
save through surrender slowly coming undone,
allowing the throb of bliss magnetism within to renew.
Away from home,
I miss my mom, my brothers.
I pardon myself for the choice I made
life isn’t the same
as it used to be there.
From dawn to dusk, I starve
Don’t weep for me
I had to hold the sword
until the cessation.
I will be there, I will.
We will rejoice once more.
ceasing striving
slowing down mind
shifting to heart
poised in stillness
we animate silence
as humming intent
before its release
as burning yearning
to merge with God
Who is all love
this breathless invocation
renewed in the timeless now
invokes bliss magnetism
as the effervescence of God
enlivening our toroidal heart
to whom does this come
gamut of emotions
caged by thought we drown
in dark swirling oceans
to whom does this come
when we’re spirit unbound
how may our true Self
in feeble form be found
to whom does this come
this urge to ascend
we are the universe
so with the vast void blend
to whom does this come
divine pulsations warm
we are that witness
calm in every storm
Dwell oh hermit, in the vast, formless void,
seeking nothing, animating the heart,
whence no longer by wispy thoughts decoyed,
invoking grace, feel bliss ignition start.
The first thing we cognise is boundless space,
noticed not since our eye searches for form
but if steps toward heaven we’d retrace,
we must be receptive to love’s touch warm.
Lost in a dream world of our own making,
we no longer know that we’re living light,
so spend most of our life in fear quaking,
blocking God’s grace that ushers bliss delight.
Ceasing to react if we be but still,
easy then becomes soul’s ascent uphill.
With mind the seat of intellect,
looking at parts that make the whole,
it can match not wisdom of heart,
sparking stardust, by bliss flakes flecked,
seat of soul, directing life’s role,
breath by breath adding love to cart.
Thoughts are useful but let them rest,
that fire of desire does not rage,
whence by shifting into the void,
choosing this way, to get undressed,
one with oneness, wise as a sage,
we become God’s light unalloyed.
Behold how pheromones mingle,
thus making our soul’s eye single.
Let’s lay to rest all doubts that grout,
rooted in conditioned belief,
that thus giving our soul relief,
we’re at peace as we go about.
Transforming as vast space itself,
recognising we’re all of this,
all nodes within suffused with bliss,
no desires remain on our shelf.
As God’s grace pours in from above,
our feeble form is energised,
objects no longer weighed and sized
and all that then remains is love.
Judging neither fault nor merit,
all thought forms, we disinherit.
When I cease to exist in my body,
My soul will find perpetual light,
I will be gone from the night,
I will be free from the darkness that walks into my room,
An end to the recalcitrant gloom,
My mind craves perpetual rest,
Will I forever be in the solitary nest?
When I go through the door at the end of the road,
I’ll take off the burdensome load,
Out of my body and I’ll find perpetual serenity,
Out of my body and away from the turbulent sea,
Out of my body and in tune with heaven.
October 6, 2024.
The One is in all,
so we cannot fall,
if we but align,
with the pulse divine.
If mind-body shell
chooses to rebel,
by employing force,
we’re distanced from source.
When all desires cease,
we flow like the breeze,
vibrant yet detached,
whence soul’s in form hatched.
What happens is this:
resplendent in bliss,
we glow as God’s flame,
labels cannot name.
I never promised.
That I’d write forever.
Or even everyday.
Maybe every Sunday.
Or every Monday, if I get lazy.
We all hide sometimes.
I never promised to come back from that.
Maybe I should have.
But if I did, I’d have it written down.
They would all remember something like that.
When I was 21, I picked up a pen.
A sparkly green pen.
That was all I had.
Someday,
I might write a grocery list.
I need to remember.
I never promised.
To pick up the milk.
Then the accident happened.
I don’t need to remember…
Any promise that I made…
Don’t worry about it.
asleep to awake in the
dreamless world of dreams,
where perception and reality,
have merged and lost their identity,
where the mist of reason is so thick,
that delusions guide the way,
purpose and direction is unknown,
but the journey is still made,
slowly through treacherous paths,
fear of death lurks but dread of life is more,
in those undefined vague wanderings
is a kindle of hope, that something
somewhere will jolt things to be right,
making reason takeover, and some
divine wisdom would light up,
the muffled silence in the ears
would be greeted by bird songs,
the paths will open up into green apple orchards,
a river would flow to its own rhythm,
and life would pulsate to reassure again,
that life is real, there are no dreams,
reason smiles like a lipsticked beautiful damsel,
beaconing to follow her to new opportunities.
And I follow as told….. to find,
cessation! Cessation of mangled uncertainty,
and glimpse of a new hope, a new beginning.
Deep into meditation
I finally let loose useless desires -
those desires that in the end
have been so meaningless
I feel myself lost in a moment -
which to one like me implies
always being caught up
in things for which
no catching up is needed
except in others’ expectations for me
In my mind’s eye,
am I seeing God?
Love for everyone floods my body.
In a moment of cessation,
bliss blossoms
my disembodied i floats above
ego… id… superego
constructs psychological
cum gravitas, or so they are told
straining, clawing
the drumbeat frantic
as mine is subdued,
tenterhooks unglued...
the universal chord
syncing
my pulse purring

Cessation Poetry Contest
Unseeking Seeker
CESSATION
That pain is like treading on bottle tops
Or stumbling into some hidden caltrops
Suddenly, as when some lightbulb pops
The welcome relief when it finally stops
Like making big gains on currency swaps
The blood pressure and heartrate drops
Yet is thought so typical of all milksops
With a false sympathy everyone adopts
Once ended, one hopes it never returns
Not just pain, but embarrassment burns
Yet that is only one of several concerns
How to grin and bear it, one soon learns
To hold your breath as the jury adjourns
It is more a prize of resilience one earns
But recall how much the stomach churns
When it’s never over, if one so discerns
Some sort of final line must be crossed
Ideas of permanent pain must be tossed
No wonder that one may then feel lost
As if buried deep within the permafrost
Like being frozen stiff without a riposte
Or see one’s ongoing destiny embossed
But with a better ending than a holocaust
Just seeking cessation at almost any cost
