Whatever you do, stay away from those three!
As a new girl, this was often said my many to me.
But they look rather sharp I argued, looking their way.
They wore cat eyed glasses, and seemed merry and gay.
They are a girl squad and it is closed I was told.
Warnings got dire, dark, dank, mean, kind of old.
I approached the cat-eyed squad and asked to join.
Sure! They agreed. We’ll pick your name, and they tossed a coin.
I became Sassy, a cat with attitude galore.
I loved being their comrade, who could want more?
As for the naysayers, I never played with them.
I was happy with my gang, full of happiness and vim.
Cat eyed insect popped out of the garden today
I saw the yellow in its eyes staring at me in a way
Big blink and then the insect dove down into clay
Surprised me too, for I had not seen it since May
What was that? Asked my fellow student, Gay.
He had seen it but not here, over there in the hay
Must have been another one, I told him and May
A mean girl who tried to capture the insect today.
I was thrilled that the creature swiftly got away.
Rooting for the cat eyed monster in the clay
Loving it that he was not captured by mean May
Hoping he would in my garden forever stay

A STRAND (1070)
~~Brian Strand: Judged 2022 February 10
A spider was climbing my walls,
The size of it truly appalls,
I’m certain it’s a lass,
With a kardashian a ss,
I couldn’t spy male spider balls!
I shouted for my hubby to come,
He gasped at that huge spiders bum,
But my old Henry hoover,
Just couldn’t remover her,
I’m screaming Help I want my mum!
My p ussy cat eyed up the spider,
She wanted this beastie insider her,
Huge spider is walking,
Cat’s expert at stalking,
She corners it by my step strider
As Tiddles is superb at pouncing,
That spider got a severe trouncing,
And now it is dead,
What more can be said,
The death of spider I’m announcing
For Julie thanks for the inspiration. bb xx

The cat eyed the dog, warily
The dog licked his lips, hungrily
The cat backed away, tremulously
The dog edged forward, intimidatingly
The cat retreated faster, alarmedly
The dog zeroed in on her, aggressively
The cat let out a screech, panic-strickenly
The dog leaped for her throat, murderously
Let's pause this video clip, momentarily
And ask a couple questions, inquisitively
Why did the dog want to kill the cat, instinctively
And why didn't the cat beat a hastier retreat, curiously...
(Please click to restart the clip)
The dog paused in mid-air, hesitatingly
The cat sighed a little sigh, relievedly
The dog smiled a faint smile, sheepishly
The cat me-owed once, tentatively
The dog's smiled widened, perceptibly
The cat shed a tear, joyously
The dog hugged the cat, lovingly
The cat basked in his embrace, snuggly

My cat eyed girl stands by the bamboo
thickets-
when a pair of water pots rest on the
sugar sand -
her ear-rings shine like my soul in the
saffron light -
finger tips of the summer wind play
music of the
earth on the bamboo stems - I remember.
There were
phrases and punctuation marks of love in
her body language.
My love belongs to an extinct species.
It’s not
your butterfly love flitting around the
carnal honey.
Certainly you’ll call it, ‘Old-
fashioned’.
Love keeps its virginity even after fifty
years.
It’s unfading charm’s in the reality I
loved her,
in the belief she loved me, and in the
distance
that shyness kept between us.

spirit hunter,
you stalk the shadow moon
neck straining to uncoil upon diaphanous night
what whisper have you heard
above the creak of batten board
the shiver of a window pane
arched and graceful is your silhouette
cat eyed guardian
moonlight prowler
paw prancer
settle the unsettled ones from
fear and in insubstantial light
protect with tooth
and claw your Mother’s
night
