A city of festivities glitter bright
To celebrate a special joyful night,
Gingerbread man boogies with delight,
Snowmen waltz, what a charming sight!

He is decorated with a galore of candy,
Friends excited to find those sweets handy,
Reason to be gratefully elated and happy
As incredibly thankful as they could ever be!

The city looks enchanting with softest snow,
Silvery laces on rooftops magically glow,
Holiday season for all fairy tale souls,
Be merry, celebrate the night at North Pole.

Premium MemberOlder Than Dirt

When I was a young lad in the prime of life
Never thought I'd still be around
When my driver's license said, “older than dirt!”
And my mind was no longer sound

But I can get away with a bunch of neat stuff
Rack it up to “he's left the planet!”
“His mental capacity equals that of a wee child”
Gonna take full advantage, run the gamut

Need to pee and dribble now and then
Talk in riddles and scratch my bum
Wipe my boogies on my Sunday clothes
And belch when company comes

Know all the tricks as I giggle to myself
It's a downright lead pipe cinch
Con them till they put me in a old pine box
Mumbling about my belly button lint

Premium MemberFirst Freeze

First Freeze

Aspen leaves quaking shivering
Beneath coats of freak September snow…

Gold sequins sparkle through a cloak of ice
New sunlight captures glitter
Captivates - no fool’s gold

Out of season – unexpected appearance –
Jack Frost’s second cousin
Sneaks up on the foothills
With frigid rime kisses
Powders the noses of mountaintops
That gasp in surprise
At winter’s scenic postcard
In hoarfrost and uncured icicles
Delivered
Too soon for the borealis solstice;
Chortling jester
Playing practical jokes
On Autumn
With early winter mischief;
Prankster unleashed
In antics of snowflakes
And escapades of flurries
Before harvest boogies and twirls
In orchard jubilees - pumpkin field festivals -
First freeze winks –
Leaves change from green to gold.

snowstorm sneaks away
skies sweep away snow debris ~
  eighty degrees now

The Collection and Irrigation of Navel Dander

Depends on what shirt I've been wearing
The colour, the texture and pile
I may get a mountain or molehill
I know either way it smells vile
My navel resembles a cauldron
A mixture of cottons and fluff
And each time I dip in my finger
It comes back all covered in stuff
And after a dig I can't help but
sniff what my digit produced
I've tried and I've tried to quit it
I give up, this quitting's no use
The button I've got on my belly
designed for a rummage and pick
a haven for my tummy boogies
I bet now you're feeling quite sick.

Premium MemberRoses Stink

Today I stopped to smell a rose
And got a fairy in my nose.
She buzzed her little fairy wings
She kicked and punched and other things.

It kind of tickled as she fought
But all her struggling was for naught.
Like glue my boogies held her there
Her tiny frame lodged in my nare.

Some pixie dust she threw therein
And though she tried, she could not win.
It turns out I’m allergic, see
To all that dust she threw on me.

I hacked and coughed and then I wheezed
I snorted, sniffled…even sneezed
And yet despite those awful fits
Up in my nose, the fairy sits.

A nasal home where she must stay
Until she figures out a way
to climb down and my nostril breach…
She’s just too deep for me to reach.

So next time when you hear them say
to smell the roses on your way,
Recall the fairy in my sniffer
And know that my advice may differ.

Nobody Else Can Do That

I can take my nose off my face and put my it between my fingers
It does not drip, or sneeze, nor do boogies linger.
I can also put my nose back.
Nobody else I know can do that.
I can wiggle my ears when hard I try.
My ears wiggle so fast I can almost fly.
My ears flip and flop and dance all around.
I can feel my tip toes lift off the ground.
Well its not so hard to do you see.
And nobody else can do that but me.
I can roll my eyes about.
From side to side and in and out.
Around and around and up and down.
Until my eyes see so far that anything can be found.
One hundred miles or more I see.
Nobody else can do that but me.
My feet can move as fast as cat’s paws
And put to doubt Newton’s three motion laws
And I can jump so high that my head touches the clouds
Then when coming down I turn flips times three
Nobody else can do that but me

Premium MemberChildhood Fears

It lived in the toy box
It lived under the bed
It lived in the closet
And under the shed

It lived in the basement
All musty and dark
It lived in the hallway
It lived in the park

It lived under the bushes
That grew by the fence
It lived in the woods
Where the trees were so dense

It lived in the attic
Where old trunks were kept
It was stealth and quite sneaky
It attacked when I slept

Dad would come to my rescue
When I was afraid
He would check out the closets
He would close all the shades

He would leave on a night light
Outside of my room
He swept under the bed
With mom’s old battered broom

He would hug me and tell me
I was big and so brave
Then he’d yell at the boogie
And make it behave

So tonight I was called
To my little ones room
I smile as I walk in
To defeat boogies that loom

Sophia's Poem

SOPHIA’S POEM

Cheerios across the floor
Pen marks on the walls
Paint on my new carpet
I can’t take it all!

Books touched by jammy fingers
Chocolate on my cat
Boogies on my sofa
Who could live like that?

Bedtime’s like a war zone
Toothache, sore head, sore thumb
Can’t sleep, not tired, I’m hungry
I want to see my Mum!

Start over in the morning
The Cheerios again!
One sock, one shoe, no jumper
Late for school again!

Then there are those moments
When we spend time alone
Colouring or building blocks
And I see how she’s grown

She’s the one I need
Whenever I am blue
No ones hugs can love me
The way Sophia’s do

For a little girl of seven
She’s really full of wit
And because of all she gives me
The mess?
I can live with it!
