First Freeze

First Freeze Aspen leaves quaking shivering Beneath coats of freak September snow… Gold sequins sparkle through a cloak of ice New sunlight captures glitter Captivates - no fool’s gold Out of season – unexpected appearance – Jack Frost’s second cousin Sneaks up on the foothills With frigid rime kisses Powders the noses of mountaintops That gasp in surprise At winter’s scenic postcard In hoarfrost and uncured icicles Delivered Too soon for the borealis solstice; Chortling jester Playing practical jokes On Autumn With early winter mischief; Prankster unleashed In antics of snowflakes And escapades of flurries Before harvest boogies and twirls In orchard jubilees - pumpkin field festivals - First freeze winks – Leaves change from green to gold. snowstorm sneaks away skies sweep away snow debris ~ eighty degrees now 9-18-20 Four In One Nature Poetry Contest Sponsor: Constance La France

Thank you so much my friend! Even here, where we live, the nights are getting colder - a sure sign of the change in the seasons. Jack Frost is mixing his paints and getting out his paintbrushes! Returning your hugs with blessings!

This four in one turned out to be a rollicking romp in early September snow. Just had to have some fun with it. Hope you have warmed up, maybe with a good cup of tea! Thank you for stopping by - always enjoy your visits.

Thank you so much Jennifer! I am humbled by your message. Having lived in Colorado the thought of this early snowstorm was just amazing - snow at this time even for that region. It brought back memories of the aspens in the fall and how the color jumps to life after the first freeze! Hugs and blessings.

wow, this is super creative!!! Love your take on the nature contest. When you started with A And B lines, I was thinking, she did it ABC as well?? Haha. That would have been quite the feat!

Thank you dear friend! That early September snowstorm really captured my imagination. I remembered the beauty of the Wasatch and the Rockies in September. It was an amazing flight of imagination to think of all that fall color covered with snow so early! Blessings!
