The thought is a terror when alone and you feel weak.
Sometimes, the stakes are so high, for fear you dare not speak.
Neither bet your honest dollar it will not enter through that door;
Its arrival will unravel everything, ending your lives if nothing more.
It's a fearsome being; such a despicable thing. It's my dad, boogeyman.
Deep in your psyche thrives a fear that will surely wreck your day.
Like this vicious entity, it will make you wish you prayed!
Best to keep your footsteps muted lest you wake it from a sleep.
Remove yourself hastily and find somewhere to escape.
Its own children were given as a live sacrifice. It's my dad, boogeyman.
The agony will never leave while the nightmare abounds.
It hears every footfall when it listens for your sounds.
Whether you know or either, it will find you somewhere in the dark.
If you're in pain, better to feel shame, and think twice about crying aloud.
It's a fearful being; such a despicable thing. It's my dad, boogeyman.
My dad, boogeyman

Feet patter through the leaves of the oak wood
Her breaths frantic blond hair bent back
Stops swivels and pivots seeing all she could
Body sways and she prays for air to catch
Then she see it lurch, lips grotesque, “Snack”
Another step, “Come back,” hairbreadth snatch
Her screams echo through the trees, crack
Snap, tearing of tendon and chop chop hack
Careful where thy wander for under the covers,
a monster hovers, in wait, to tear rip and peel
and ribbon flesh from bone, you and your lover
Boogeyman emerges burst reanimates ashes
Looking for little boys and girls souls to steal
Rictus cadaver of a mannequin after he bashes
Your brains in with his talons, meaty meal
to this manifestation that’s not fiction but real
That creak in the floor above the sound below,
in the basement or the scratches in the walls,
he’s there waiting to lick lather eel eyes aglow
take you some where dark and festering calls
He is your fear shhh dear he’s here feel that
Too late for you I’m afraid he sees you
And what he sees he ceases and disappears

Not all of the boogeymen live under your bed
Some can be worse than concoctions from your head
Not all of them are green, with sharp and jagged teeth
Some of them are orange, and hide their fangs underneath
They try to hide beneath their masquerading wispy mane
But the wind blows their cover, showing it's in vain
They try to trick us into drinking poison, and get into your head
I hope the ones that believed it, didn't end up dead...
They make you think they're on your side, but only ever lie
They can even seem kind of pleasant, until you sever ties
Then they come after you with all the force of a rocket
And if you try to shake their hand, they rip your arm out of the socket
Their bullying can be furious, sometimes even fiery
Writing nasty rumors about you in a very public diary
Making exaggerated motions, hoping to distract you
Luckily some have tiny hands, that would physically impact few
But their words can be damaging and can demand a crowd
Sometimes their biggest weapon, is that they're so very loud
If we collectively ignore them, maybe they'll get no more attention
The very least we can do, to keep up boogeyman prevention

Was terrified of the boogeyman
Just a wee one when the stories began
He lived in my closet
Cause of much gossip
When I heard him, hid behind the devan

Scared me all around
Get down get down
And moving all round
Like a Up and down
Turns the eyes closed
Small and large image in the fences
Blew of winds and curtains fall down
Get down the bed, I am not a clown
O boogeymen go away I will light the fire
And that will work definitely like a closed wire
Thinking stopped and silence all around
Not a single mummer surround
Now boogeyman will not caught you with his harmer tall
Turns image from large too small.
Hey buddy opens your eyes.
It’s time to wake up dud leave all your night dream lies ,get to work
And small walking boogeyman image disappeared by the dawn light of firework.

He is a creature of the night
lives deep inside your closet
comes out after midnight
have you not heard the gossip?
he is coming for me
that's how the rumor has it
he is coming for you
so we both have to face it
we haven't been good
today we misbehaved
mom and dad are asleep
and we can't be saved
i won't let go of you, sister
i know that you are scared
they say he is so sinister
our lives won't be spared!
don't let go of my hand,
don't let go of me brother!
i got you, little sister
lets get under the cover
wait! do you hear that noise,
is it water drops from the faucet?
can you check under the bed,
are you sure you locked the closet?
-lets take turns sleeping
-i think that idea is good
we can't both fall asleep
-you go first, -no! you should!
there must be a way
we must find a way to cope
all that's left is a prayer
all we can do is hope...
wait, yes, i think i got it!
they both did it so quick!
little hands reached out,
the light switch went - click!

After dusk it appears in fearful minds round
Its function is to frighten all around
Shapes and names changes all ground
Hides under the beds or in closets surround.
In the bedroom or bathroom attractive
After midnight it becomes active
Incline of amorphous shape turns eyes red with tear
Creating a power of a deepest fear.
Like a tentacles of shapeless form
Cowards are more prone to be attacked worm
Just in their mind not exactly
Frightening by its allusion aptly
Spoken by someone elders gaze
For disrespecting at tender stage
Bad habits were turned to good one
Via a boogeyman characters done.

Silent as mist, I roam,
my world is the still depths of blackest night.
In search, yes, endless search,
seeking the child of gray to black heart.
Though forewarned, bad children are abundant,
those pure of heart to be spurned in nights passage.
I find the child of innocent heart, distasteful,
not of interest nor matter to my need.
My quest is the rich bitter sweet taste
of the child in gray to black heart.
The darker tint is stronger to call,
those passed over this night, perhaps tomorrow’s prey.
Floating upon the silent night breeze,
hidden by shadow in moonless night, I travel.
Barriers none to stop my unquenchable thirst,
as black smoke through door or window I enter.
Without detection, unseen, unstoppable,
silently I creep to bedside of my chosen.
In a ghostly embrace the unruly child
is carried into the night,
to my place of dark secrets, not be seen again.
Heed my warning, children of wicked ways.
I will find you in my time,
you cannot hide nor fool me.
Your fate lies in your chosen play,
be good of spirit, pure of heart.
Lest I steal you away, as you sleep in the night,
for I am the Boogeyman.

As children we see the Boogeyman everywhere.
In the closet, under the bed - and even under the stair.
We even call him Monster and he is such a fright!
He scares us so deeply - we have to sleep with light.
We rush into our parents room and jump into bed with them.
Only then do our fears begin to truly dim!
Snuggling close to our parents we get the chance to dream.
Not worrying about having to cry or scream.
As we grow older we don't see the Boogeyman quite as much.
We begin to really enjoy life with our friends, families, and such.
Laughing, telling jokes, and learning all we can.
One day on our feet hopefully to stand!
But people - let me clue you - the Boogeyman is all around.
There are many other names where he can be found.
Bullies, criminals, and fanatics - just to name a few.
So keep your wits about you and give him what he's due!
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

For some, the boogeyman is merely a fairytale of a creature that hides under their beds. For me, the boogeyman has never been so kind to hide under the bed, but rather he has made his home inside my head. My boogeyman isn't made of fairytales, instead he is pure fear. My mother told me there were no such thing as monsters yet the boogeyman is here. He sleeps in my bed, whispering sweet nightmares to me, and creating terrifying imagery in my head. By far the most terrifying words of all he has told consisted of two simple words..."I do."

"Don’t fuss anymore, just sleep tight
Boogeyman will hear and lug you away
stuffed in his hideous, grey, musty sac",
she warned her little boy every night.
Boogeyman “Cancer” made no sound
just crept in silently as she slept
into her child’s room and blood
stole him from Earth’s playground.
Don’t ever please say Boogeyman
she lifelong urged all moms
what you say may come alive
‘coz Gods hear only when they can!

This boogeyman was scared of the dark
But tried frightening kids in the park
When dusk started to fall
For his mummy he’d call
He'd go dashing home quick as a lark
Young children thought it was great fun
Seeing the poor boogeyman run
They’d leap out from a bush
Make him fall on his tush
For he didn’t scare anyone
So the boogeyman joined in a class
His assessments he quickly did pass
He leaps from dustbin lids
Now he’s scaring the kids
This transition he cannot surpass

Darkness enfolding me, laying in bed.
Cool crisp sheets touch. Softness cradling head.
Sandman's hand reaching for his due embrace.
Nighttime's chilling air kissing at my face.
Denied dreams requiem, and the rest it brings.
Trying to ignore as anguished thought sings.
Giving up hope. Another night sans sleep.
Desperate frustration making me weep.
Three days late. Reality is slipping.
Can't concentrate. My sanity tipping.
An empty vessel. Shadow become man.
Mind numbing thoughts chatter. Lonely day's span.
Meet the boogeyman who scares me at dusk.
Insomnia, his name. Takes all but husk.
