"the anguish of grief leaves me with an appetency and yearning for peace . . . "

the allure of love was enchanting
the promise between us a delicate flower
love was like a guest unbidden
well-timed and auspicious
for my heart was a ravaged garden
and you knew how to soothe and calm me
how to assuage my fears
and the scars on my soul faded
we lay cuddled 'till the crack of dawn
sometimes you would look at me awry
with a crooked smile
and your laughter was music for my soul
now . . . I hang my head like a wilted rose
and the memory of time is my heavy cloak
for I am broken since that dreadful day
the pain atrocious and brutal
you left me for heaven and I scream why . . .
the wind blows in trees like the wail of violins
and I stand in the summer, the fall, the winter
and spring staring at your engraved name in stone
and the clouds float in the sky
and the birds sing me a sad and dreamy song
for years and years I have been chained to your tomb
but today, I absolve me
I set me free . . .
and I forgive you, my love for leaving
'cause I understand that it was not yours for the choosing
but had been written . . . in the book of time

Premium Member Where Echoes Hide

Negativity echoes in the distressed mind
Crashing like Tsunami waves with beatings well timed

I am no good... I am no good...

I am no good... I am no good...

Words echo in my mind! Words echo in my mind!

Negativity echoes in the distressed mind
Crashing like Tsunami waves with beatings well timed

I am no good... I am no good...

I am no good... I am no good...

No inner peace can I find. No inner peace can I find.

Empty recesses , amplify tunes of abuse
Allowing discordant echoes in a mind obtuse.

What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?

What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?

I ask myself I ask myself

I ask myself I ask myself

Empty recesses , amplify tunes of abuse
Discordant exhalations in a mind obtuse.

Words echo in my mind Words echo in my mind

Words echo in my mind Words echo in my mind

Negativity echoes in the distressed mind
Crashing like Tsunami waves with beatings well timed
Empty recesses, amplify tunes of abuse
Discordant exhalations of a mind obtuse.

Change the channel! Do it now! Before you die inside!
Don't allow negativity to grow in the hollows of your mind
because...
That's the place where malevolent echoes hide.

Premium Member Last Look Back

pain ...
the blood of her pen
a harlequin's hope ...
the thrum in her breast and being
no quarter given the issue of her barren womb
she looked back one last time
on the darkened house ...
things and thoughts and threadbare attentions
the labor of her love ... the love of her labor
that structure that had meant everything ...
now, but a cold castle ...
a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication ... and fear
perspectives meant for panic
placed pointedly at her fair feet
with threats and a well-timed backhand
(she gently poked the bruise on her cheek ... her reality)
children were the bond, the cement, the guarantee
but it had been a feigned promise only
his intent was ever the opposite
she saw that now ... clearly
the ruin no longer mattered
the lies, the humiliation, the endless attempts
to be the 'good wife' at all costs
mattered not ... not anymore ...
her eyes left the rear-view mirror in a silent pledge
never again ...
NOW was all she cared about
now, and the dream ...
of tomorrow.

Crescendo

I know it won't take much
Just a well-timed feathery touch
For me so taut the string
To highest crescendo you'd bring.

Premium Member Quotable Quotes

Don't count your days, make your days count for lost time is never again found.
If you want to see rainbows don't stare at the ground.

When everyone else walks out a friend will be first to walk in.
One finds a true treasure when one finds a true friend.

One ounce of Mother equals one pound of clergy.
Her love and concern will lessen your worry.

A teacher is paid to teach us to make a living but we learn how to live at home.
Teach a child honor and good common sense and he'll make you proud when he's grown.

It's better to attempt to do something and fail,
Than attempt to do nothing and prevail.

If God is your partner make big plans,
For when God is your partner the future is grand.

If your lips would keep from slips five things observe with care,
To Whom you speak, Of Whom you speak and How and When and Where.

Don't expect your kids to listen to your advice and ignore your example.
The way that you live gives ample example.

Life is what happens while your making other plans.
Be wise and prepare so through storms you can stand.

When opportunity knocks by some uncanny quirk,
It oft goes unrecognized it so resembles work.

Actions speak louder than words, it's true.
Though they doubt what you say folks believe what you do.

Well timed silence is more eloquent than words.
Folks who talk too much often go unheard.

If you keep your mouth shut you won't be misquoted.

The dog who barks the most is the one on the shortest chain.

We are prepared for great deeds by great trials.

What shouldn't be heard by little ears shouldn't be said by big mouths.

God's people are not without trial, nor are they without their God amid the trial.

New In Farming

…New In Farming
-------------------------------

My Dad is showing me these days
Our walnuts in the forest,
The willows by the brook,
And the boundary marks of all our pastures, and paddies.

Teaching me to arc around the apples
As deep as a full-spade
To keep away the roots eating rats.
Water the trees in summers’ heat,
Apply white latex to prevent the stems from sunburn.
Spray the trees with well-timed pesti’des,
Fungi’des and insecti’des,
Because the sensitive trees are to too many diseases very prone.
Remember! Nitrogen encourages good growth,
Phosphorus, root growth,
Potassium, fruit and flower.

Since I am the second senior in the three-men-family,
Newly married, newly laid-off, New in farming;
And he, an asthma patient,
Is not feeling well, nowadays, often.
(Last day at Harwan, Dhara, I saw an aged man stumbled,
Falling faceward on his knees, and then down.
And was helped by two youngmen walking in the street,
As a child trying to stand on his feet.)

Premium Member That Which Time Is

Though Time is something we've devised,
Time's hold on us can't be revised.
While Time has time to spend at will,
We question Time when we distill
It into time spent ill or well.
It's just perception - time will tell.

Time can play games within our head,
It's Time we love - and Time we dread.
Time gives us time to think things through,
What to reject - what to pursue.
And, timeliness keeps Time involved -
Sufficient time gets things resolved.

True, Time can grant a host of things -
Good times that well-timed planning brings.
And, timely words - remember when?
Just simple truths, time and again.
Time can expand our views to see
The benefits of what might be.

But, Time can proffer problems too -
With time to kill what should we do?
Time can befriend untimely ways
That dissipate our time-bound days.
Yet, Time won't dwell on what we chose,
Time ventures on - not in repose.

When Time slips by, or fails to wait,
It's Time we tend to castigate.
Despite the time we set aside
Time only serves to be our guide.
Still, Time can help us do our share
As Time goes by with time to spare.

But, Time moves on at its own rate
Unmoved by time to contemplate.
If we take time to stop and look,
Time travels past the time we took.
Yes, Time is always on the run -
Time won't stand still - for anyone.

Premium Member Time's Polarity

Time's natural spaces,
a universe of footprints in remembered places.

Need kicks me in the ass
and head.
Trauma iafterflows,
undertows,
crashing carnage
with runaway horsepower.

Want is a branching step,
coincidentally left-producing and right-consuming
memory footprints on Earth's beach of time,
some more resiliently resonant
before erasing surf remerges,
and some less formed before washing into history's cultural flow
of confluent wild consciousness.

Time bilaterally steps through
sands of positive place in negative space,
resolving comprehensive consciousness.

Footprints in sands of trauma time
regenerate decomposing memory
within nature's wild chaos
outflowing rhyme.

Earthlings have no time
without sufficient stepping space

We experience rightful yin
without expelling wrongful yang

We co-arise no perfect vacuum
no perfect bad,
no perfect glad
save well-timed balance
in-between surfing appositionals

Bipedal potential
for comprehensive consciousness
in mind's harmonious heart
beating co-empathic lust for trust
informing and exforming lungs
fueled by nature's spirited intelligence.

Our shortages of universal healthy time,
our misconceptions about balancing wealthy walking space,
that
mislead to suicidal
patricidal
fratricidal
matricidal
ecocidal
tidal footprints into quicksand's chaos

Riptide's karmic grace
for recreating tomorrow's spacious beach
awaiting more transgenerative feet
and resonant heads,
bodies with minds
surfing seasoned time's
indigenous wisdom.

Time passionately flows
and enfolds frequent nature's voice
for each to hear with dissonant noise
while listening in keys of confluent choice.

Time's polypathic space,
universal footprints
in memory's unitarian place.

Weak Spots Ii

The rain and a sigh
The silence before a daring drop
A calm utterance of hope whilst sharing a prayer
A well-timed gaze

An avid expectancy
Followed by a tickle of surprise
A thoughtful offering
No money can buy

The word “adore”
Amongst a woodland wild
A deep kiss in cold places
The heat between eager lips

Literatures of fondness
Dismembering time and space
A lingering tune
With a poignant resolve

Second-Hand Life

sitting on the hand of now
taking in the view of life
riding forward steadily somehow
cutting now with a well-timed knife

passing by numbered days and hours
passing minutes with our eyes a'blink
passing seconds to the past devoured
passing time quicker than you'd think

sweeping continuously toward the what
sweeping around life's circled face
sweeping quarters around life's quad
naturally sweeping toward life's erase

the time bequeathed to each is precious
riding through times of a life capacious

Premium Member Humorists

‘Tis no less the poet who writes of the frivolous
Josh Billings and Ogden Nash come to mind,
But, we have some at the Soup quite humorous
A quick survey of new poems and you’ll find
That folks like Gershon Wolf and Terry Flood
Know how to turn a wicked phrase, by golly,
Along with Jack Ellison and Maurice Rigoler --
These guys know the meaning of sheer folly!
They tickle our fancy and elicit our laughter
With well-timed jokes, puns, and explanation
Of things we will remember for long hereafter
As vital additions to our store of information.
My day isn’t complete without a dose of Caren
Fantasies and musings always worth sharin’.
So, check out their poems, couplets, and such
For if you do not you’ll be missing so much!

Premium Member A Few Things To Remember

Actions speak louder than words, it's true.
Folks may doubt what you say but they'll always believe what you do.

Don't let the best you have done in the past be the standard for the rest of your life. Keep on truckin' . Practice makes perfect.

The greatest of all faults is to think you have none.

Jesus Said: "Cast your bread upon the waters and you will find that after many days it will return unto you."
But many people on remembering this will cast out a stale crust and expect cake in return.

The world's most disappointed people are those who get what's coming to them.

The trouble with some folks who give till it hurts is that they are so sensitive to pain.

We are prepared for great deeds by great trials.

Nature makes it impossible to learn the ropes without falling over them a few times.

Well timed silence is more eloquent than words.

If you keep your mouth shut you won't be misquoted.

A housewarming is to give a second chance to those who didn't send a wedding gift.

Fifty-one percent of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.

Love is the only thing that power cannot command and money cannot buy.

He who gives when he is asked waits too long.

Glass, china and reputation are easily cracked and never well mended.

Many people have a good aim in life but fail to pull the trigger.

What shouldn't be heard by little ears shouldn't be said by big mouths.

Be content with your lot and don't try to be what you're not.

To be in step with the world is to be out of step with Christ.

It's not your Will that keeps you out of Heaven, it's your Won't.

"Virus" is a Latin word used by doctors to mean:
Your guess is as good as mine.

God's people are not without trial,
Nor without their God amid the trial.

PUPS LAND ON MOON ~ Nursery Rhyme

Two little pups called Sam and Sue
Wanted adventure, to try something new,
Why don’t we go to the moon,
They had seen it in a cartoon
Lets go today,
But its so far away,
Jumped into their dad’s spaceship
Its moon or bust, what a trip.
They saw strange things floating outside,
All part of their ride
We are landing said Sam
Fasten your seat belt Sue, wham!
They stepped outside, first pups
To land on moon,
Reporters would write very soon.
Wow a space mobile,
Sam the man took the wheel,
They collected rocks and sand
To take back to Earth land,
Sue started crying, I’m scared,
I want my mummy she blared.
Back on the spaceship they climbed
So well timed,
They arrived with a bump
And a loud thump!
Their mummy and daddy gave them a hug,
And dad gave Sam’s ear a tug.
Don’t ever do that in a hurry
Again, you had us in such a flurry,
They were sorry and promised to be good,
And slept as two pups should,
Mum put on their night light,
Kissed them, and tucked them in tight!

The Deadliest Dinner

The feast was over, the diners filled,
When abruptly they keeled over and their innards spilled,
Unto an immaculate floor, courtesy was disabled,
Spewing their filth upon white walls and cluttered tables.

In a sudden realization of what had been done,
They discarded all valuables as they turned to run,
Only to discover the exits to be blocked,
Every crevice, window and door, barred and locked.

Petrified, the befouled guests sought out their charming host,
There He was, glass raised, about to give the evening's toast,
Bellies clutched as they collapsed into a sea of sweat,
Gaping at their frail pale friend, a foe never before had they met.

Weakened murmurs weaved through the majestic hall,
As the terror of recognition descended upon them all,
Then with a last shred of indignation, the Mayor declared:
"What in the bloody hell is going on here?"

"Hell it would seem, is a most appropriate word"
Said the host of the evening in a voice barely heard,
Not one of you have nightmares of the bloody wreckages left behind,
Manipulating and exterminating, all your friendships were well timed,

When I walked into your lives, you drunk deeply of mine,
You took and you took, I cooked and you dined,
But tonight is the night, you will hear the forgotten voices sing;
Of the ghost who hosted the deadliest dinner and made hell's bells ring.
