Best Sounding Board Poems
Your going has left a hole in my heart that time,
The Great Healer, cannot repair.
Your going has left a hole in my existence
That forever and beyond will not heal,
A hole ever expanding from its own nothingness,
A hole through which all the goodness,
All the kindness of you is slipping through.
You were my sounding board.
Trite ideas offered, came back
Enhanced, brilliant and sparkling.
Borrowing intelligence from you, I grew wiser.
Doors opened before me as I strove to be worthy
Of you, my beloved son.
I go on now as you would have me do,
Searching in Nature for the joy
You found in its wonders.
Hearing bird songs with your ears,
Relating to others with your empathetic instincts.
Striving, ever striving to be the person
And mother that you believed me to be
And never letting your memory grow dim
For those you loved and for whom you sacrificed.
You came into this world with a wisdom
That did not come from me.
I thank God each day for His lending you to me
For the time that I had you near
And I cling to His promise
That I will see you again.
I could not tell from whence you came,
But I know where you have gone,
Part of myself, the better part--into Eternity.
When poets bleed they fill their quills
And write their words in red
The letters scream each time they're made
In the hope of being read
The page becomes a sounding board
A mirror to the soul
A reflection meant to bring them peace
To comfort or console
They choose their words so carefully
Not wasting a drop of blood
Writing words that lift them up
As tears begin to flood
They'll write with true conviction
Each time they start to weep
They write sometimes to clear their minds
Before they get to sleep
When poets bleed a word is born
Trying to appease their need
Shining a light to the whole wide world
And all who want to read
One pool in which we live and lay
One rhythm of hearts holding us today
One sounding board wherein we have our say
If not this moment, then in the next
We swim, crawl, walk; then climb or fly
Without delay, like fledglings in world pool
Looking for a better way.
One pool in which we revel or rebel
One the investor, one living in the now
Or living in hell
One gospel truth we all must tell.
One pool in which we thrive refreshed
And do our best
One pool in which we fail or
Pass the ten commandment test
And lay our fears to rest
One by one we'll meet Giver of breath.
One final curtain call
One last sound before silence has a ball
One Universal God sent His Son, to redeem us all.

I want to help you, I really do
But what does my help mean for you?
Sympathy is not the way to go
Feeling sorry for you, is just a show
That takes away your choice for you,
I want to help you, I really do
Let me walk at your side as you lead the way
Let me hear what you have to say
Let me be your sounding board
Reflecting thoughts, feelings that you hoard
I want to help you, I really do
But to yourself you must be true
Let me be a mirror clear,
Not a voice whispering in your ear.
Let my actions empower you, for you
I want to help… you… I really do
Something Seemingly Insignificant and Unexpected Changed My Life Poetry Contest
I was gratefully raised in a talented musical family,
Chords and B-sharps were heard many times,
Such beautiful memories full of sweet melodies,
While I sat in my room writing my own rhymes.
One day in high school I decided to flip a coin,
On which instrument should I learn to play?
It was between the guitar and tuba horn,
Little did I know my heart would change that day.
I chose the guitar to take my soul on a flight,
A sounding board echoing through my essence,
I knew instantly my winsome decision I made was right,
So I worked hard and took delightful guitar lessons.
I learned harmonies soaring my gifts high to the sky,
As I still held my precious love to become a poetess,
I created compositions of songs, made mamma cry,
I knew from me she wouldn’t expect anything less.
Euphonies were conceived using God given gifts,
Lyrics with rhymes written out of my love for life,
Added to my heartfelt verses were my guitar rifts’,
For I know deep down I’ve never felt so freely alive.
From a small coin was born a natural way of living,
I became a lyricist writing melodies dear to my spirit,
For now, I am a versifier with my soul’s songs given,
My quintessence spreads my words for all to hear it.

When the passing touch of a life long friend
Becomes the caress of a new lover
The rules of engagement are rearranged
Who do you talk to about each other.
When problems arise and they surely will
And you are sleeping with your sounding board.
And she is the reason you need to talk
Do you wish things were like they were before.
You can turn around but you can't go back
You are up that creek without a paddle
Now it's all up to you to figure out
Was it worth that one night in the saddle.
And don't bother to try to justify
Or blame the booze or the moon in her hair.
You had known each other from childhood
So don't even think about going there.
Relationships are sometimes a struggle
And you may feel like your partners a pain
But now that you have told her you live her
You've got a little more skin in the game.
Gb2 's a radio show, it airs in Sydney...But there's more to know.'
Ben Fordam has been speaking out, on the covid dictates
Roundabout on where the science meets the facts
Whether it's all altruistic.? Or do some just act?

I need a friend right now
I need guidance
I need someone to show me how
How to just be.
I thought I was happy
I thought I liked me
I guess I am not the person
I thought I could be.
I need a friend right now
someone to share my thoughts
someone to be my sounding board
someone who understands me
someone who realizes
I should not be ignored.
I know the truth that lies beneath the beauty and the smiles
I know the truth
But you see,
it is much easier to live a life of denial
You smile and grin,
laugh and pretend.
Oh, but still remains the dark behind the light
I know the truth.
One day the closet door will open
One day the make up will fade
and the world will know
what I have known all along
You can't hide your pain
you can't store your fears
you can't bury your sorrows
you can't change what's done
you can't pretend your okay anymore
you can't be that person everyone wants you to be
The mask has been ripped from your face
and the world now knows
what I have known all along
you don't know how to live this life alone.
you are broken and scared
and fear that there
is no way for repair
The damage has been done
your life incomplete
you have been stripped
of all your strength and beat
you are left broken and scared
and no one is there.
You are alone
and I have known this all along
I know the truth
I know I can't be alone
I need a friend right now.
Hoisted high above the ground
Floating in the gentle breeze
Colors and symbols depict a message
That some reject, but others please
Be it local or in a foreign land
Violence or peace it can incite
Some may regard it nonchalent
But others defend, with all their might
It's the mouthpiece and sounding board
Of what is in the human heart
Of those who raise it to it's perch
As their position they seek to impart
Yes, - the flag can easily define
How we view, life, liberty and death
Many seek to extol it's virtue
Guarding it, until their final breath
Isaiah spoke of lifting a banner
It draped over Solomon with love
Should it not be the guiding force
Symbolizing, as a peaceful dove
So, let the Christian hoist it high
In action, word and deed
Always portraying Christ as King
May God grant this to be our creed

Tin roof sounding board,
Springtime rain gently falling.
Thoughts of you prevail.
This is for you
dichotomy star
This is for you
wherever you are
You break into pieces
You bristle the wind
This is for you
to muse and to mend
One side is shining
One side is dark
Leveled emotions
to tame and to spark
One side is passion
One side is fire
and we never know
when the other will tire
You are my blood
dichotomy star
You are my future
wherever you are
I will be listening
each time that you speak
This sounding board diffident
solace you seek
You will replenish
You will shine on
Internal in struggle
infernally won.
Unconditional Love is free,
To give an opinion,
To forgive,
To seek to understand,
To be a sounding board,
To bring hope,
To commend,
To bring laughter,
To spread joy,
To show kindness,
To sit in silence,
To walk alongside,
To pave the way.
It is not free to demand,
To coerce,
To expect,,
To only say yes,
To gossip,
To snap back,
To go against its nature,
To give false hope,
To make light of a situation,
To lead astray,
To be unkind,
To give up,
To give in to unreasonable requests,
To make it about itself,
To put time limits.

NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
Even though I will be half a world away,
I will be thinking of you.
My mind will frequently travel back to you,
knowing you'll be there, waiting.
Our love growing stronger with our sepatation.
I will lean heavily upon your ear
to maintain my sanity.
A sounding board, you will become,
my conscious and savior, in another world.
A world devoid of hate, hunger, and death.
You will keep me centered.
We will be unified in my quest.
Your love will be my north star,
the needle of my compass
guiding my home to you.
