The Skin Game
When the passing touch of a life long friend
Becomes the caress of a new lover
The rules of engagement are rearranged
Who do you talk to about each other.
When problems arise and they surely will
And you are sleeping with your sounding board.
And she is the reason you need to talk
Do you wish things were like they were before.
You can turn around but you can't go back
You are up that creek without a paddle
Now it's all up to you to figure out
Was it worth that one night in the saddle.
And don't bother to try to justify
Or blame the booze or the moon in her hair.
You had known each other from childhood
So don't even think about going there.
Relationships are sometimes a struggle
And you may feel like your partners a pain
But now that you have told her you live her
You've got a little more skin in the game.
