Best Slim Poems
You can probably tell I've always been inspired by Slim Shady
By the way I rhyme words and the fact my pen's crazy
I'm the equivalent to Jason Voorhees listening to the Marshall Mathers LP with a pen in his hand instead of a Machete
This is a horror movie on paper and I don't think you're ready
You want to dress it up, well I'll jump out of your fashion catalogue
I'm happy to stand out, forget hiding I don't need camouflage
I got in my own way too many times before and I used to self sabotage
No more though, you may want to duck and hide when I let my pen's ammo discharge
I'm a one man army, bring your whole battle squad
You should know by the way I put words together that I'm a scrabble god
Should I rhyme simpler and dumb it down because these days the dumbest people and ideas get the biggest views
This generation need things simple, and handed to them, they don't want to look for hidden jewels
These days people get everything Misconstrued
Kids today seem to think the best rapper is the richest dude
I don't care about a Kardashian or an Amber Rose or who is kissing who
my dad left me with issues and fears of abandonment
I just want to wake up to my dream girl wearing my shirt and making me sandwiches
Have her look at me like I'm the first drop of rain after a drought
Forget the past and future, I'd rather just focus on the matters of now
tell Cupid if he shoots me again to make it Demi Lovato
I wouldn't say it to his face but Brock Lesnar looks like Johnny Bravo
People throw shots these days and they're barely Vodka
My pen is a magic wand that makes me poetry's Harry Potter
Some won't like that I'm bringing rap style punchlines to poetry
but even when I'm writing for fun and joking I still speak openly
Unsure if I had writers block or if I've been lazy
But I'm back now and my pen's crazy
You can all probably tell by the way I rhyme that I've been inspired by Slim Shady

Thinking of Dusty and Singing with Slim
By Kevin Fairbrother, 17th of August 2013
As I travel the roads on the great outback
My mind takes the pictures of what I see
I wave to the travelers that wave to me
And I listen to Slim on my country CD
My mind wanders back to the Gulf travels I’ve been
In Company with Dusty, the girl of my dreams
We would laugh and joke, have a beer or two
Round the campfire, beneath the blazing moon
The family stories would come to light
Each hoping that one, would break the ice
For love was in the air, it was on my mind
Dusty sensed this, and said goodnight
AS I lay in my swag by the fire glow
My mind raced of ways that I could let Dusty know
Of how I felt, what I could say and what I could do
As I need to tell her in my own special way
Like the song of lost love in Camooweal
I’ve missed the chance to tell Dusty my story
For I’m left with heartache and feeling despair
For Dusty had gone and I know not where
So I travel on thinking of Dusty and singing with Slim
As he tells his stories of life in the great outback
For the words in his songs, they ring so true
That life in the bush is not for city people
But Dusty and Slim will forever be with me
Inspiring me to look forward and not back
For the long road ahead, I know not what it brings
But I will be thinking of Dusty and singing with Slim

Verse
I know a man who’s not adverse
To helping others slim of purse
He’s more than willing to help out,
If self-improvement floats your boat,
For teaching men to fish for trout,
Is poverty’s best antidote.
But wealthy men have certain rules
That poorer men think make them fools
Like never spending all you make
Investing then in what seems smart
Like planning for tomorrow’s sake,
Like buying horse for applecart.
Tomorrow’s man you’ll someday be
And if you ever will be free,
Provision must be made for him
That helps him climb another tree
To venture out on tender limb,
And catch a glimpse of what may be.
To invest smart trust what you know
Though risk can be a chance to grow
Invest in self and always win
You know that time is on your side
A poor choice never is a sin
Like being taken for a ride.
You hope to dig for more than coal?
Then OPM (1) should be your goal.
Your reputation where to start
For rep that shines can make things click
And trust depends on human heart
Which disappears if you’re too slick.
For leverage is word to know
If you would make your garden grow
Lush garden’s can the bees pull in
Your bees, the heroes of your plan,
Can pollinate the plants within
Complete the dreams of thoughtful man.

Poet’s Notes:
(1) OPM stands for other people’s money. When you are able to invest other people’s money for them and they trust you to do this, you increase your own potential to earn money basically because you can charge them a management fee for doing so and you also improve your credit reputation which means you can borrow more money from a bank for your own projects if you need to.

Rhyme
just saw myself in the mirror
after feasting a box of pizza
cannot stand the sight of horror
and realized 'twas a bad idea
the main goal is to get lean
have my ass busy and active
but i'm lazy af to go clean
i guess its fate to get massive
got advised to get balanced diet
to lessen on sugar and carb
but the cravings are hard to quite
even giving up rice for lard
so this is what they called keto
gobbling more on fats and grease
less on meat, rice and potato
and more on veggies and cheese
some of you might get irked
but i need options and hope
please advise will this work
before i eat up this whole loaf

~ You Are ~
( Slim Moving Poetry )
You are
What my
Dreams and
More are
Made of
And in
You I'm
Always thinking
Of, all
The time
My very
Sweet love
You seal
My fate
You are
My destiny
And you
Fill every
Single waking
And daydreaming
Time of
My life
And I
Always feel
You so
Very close
And so
Very deep
Inside of
Me so
Passionately so
Softly so
Tenderly right
Here in
My heart
And my
Very soul
And you
Are with
Me just
A breath
Away and
I'm all
Yours in
Every single
Way always
And forever
And ever
Beyond... eternity.

SLIM
An internal dialogue by the old stork Slim
My back hurts today, and my wings are not what they used to be.
I could call in sick, but then who would deliver the new Johnson baby?
I've got to think about giving this up, but boy, would I miss it. …
and the young storks don't seem to want this job..not much danger or
excitement in it……….I'll bet in a few years all our business will
go to FED-EX or UPS….doesn't seem right….won't be much magic
in that…. lets see, I've got Johnson Boy in the morning..and maybe
Gorelick twins this afternoon. Here he is now..hair as red as fire..
isnt he a bruiser though….what? 9#, 10oz?….I'd better grab a Tylenol
first thing or I'll never make it..saw the little girls, tiny things but
boy are they sweet. Going to be a busy family for sure..
…….
Well that was a day..great fun…not like yesterday when I had to leave
that baby on the doorstep cause nobody answered the door..Worried
and waited, glad someone finally came..seemed like a nice woman
but a bit overwhelmed…..think I made several stops here before…
………Geez--- enough for one day..I've got the best job in the world..
The best job I ever loved….." Hi Dear, what's for dinner?…….Frogs?..
my favorite…..
Based on the old folk story that told of storks delivering babies. Something to
tell little children who wonder where babies come from…
Most countries have their own version of this story…

A waning moon hangs
under an obsidian sky
as I walk through a
the dark scrub forest
past stumps of giants
felled long ago.
The river‘s low
few salmon in the pools
and none flounder
on the gravel banks.
Eagles and ravens
are not to be seen
though the signs say
bears have been
sighted.
Once this river sustained
an autumn feast but
now pickings
are pretty
slim.

Love of Slim At Kempsey
By
Kevin L Fairbrother
The music of Slim Dusty and his bush verse
Played night and day at the Kempsey Muster
A crowd of country music fans in their hundreds
Enjoyed the Slim Dusty memorial weekend
The singers gave justice to Slims songs
Many were well known country artists
Others home grown and new to the game
Gave their all for the love of this great man
Lights on the hill most popular was sung a hundred times
With The Rain Tumbles Down in July a close second
Camooweal, Gidgy Coal the Indian Pacific, Road Train Blues
300 horses, Waltz Sing Matilda and the Pub with No Beer
When the Winter Winds blow the Currawongs Come down
And the classic Pub with no Beer and have a beer with Duncan
Road Train Blues, Old Time Country Halls Slim sang them all
He looked Forward and he Looked Back, living his Natural High
For the words in his songs resonate with the old and young
Bringing the bush and the outback closer to city people
Relive the devastating drought, fires, teeming rain and floods
The characters and hero’s he bought to life in his verse
The bush poets write about things they see around them
The Man from Snowy River or Clancy of the Overflow
The Aboriginal stockmen where legends were born
All put to music and sung by Slim Dusty and his country band
Slim and his family travelled throughout this great land
Bringing their music to the cities the outback and the bush
For his music and the stories of the past and present
He sang in a unique way that everyone could understand.
Everyone there vowed to return to the muster
For the legend of Slim and his songs will never end
We will play and sing the songs that he made great
Until we meet again at the Kempsey Muster

Once there was a man called Rumpelstiltskin
Whose diet was slim so he was quite thin
Then one sad day
His legs gave way
He lost his stilts and became rumpled skin.

slar, slar, see you later, Danny P, you are a masterbator.
Slar bucks, is all i can say, i need a kebab, every single day.
The turbs is gone, they towed it away, it had so much rust, they crushed it 2day.
We had bare jokes, in that car, arrested 2 times in 1 nite, they took it 2 far.
U knocked over a drink, then put ur head down, the pigs pulled us over, the ****in stupid clowns. I should have put my foot down, we would have not got very far, the 3rd gear turbs, see u later.
Waitin in da station, smellin of ****, bare police lookin at me, I felt like a tit.
Then drove home they stopped us again, i couldnt stop laughin, i was in so much pain.
"we just been to the station, we cant go again, here is my paper work, Danny.P is my name".

Ballade
I am confused
distant things
are within reach!
But
when grabbed
speaking or being stone silent
they will say to me:
We just look like distant things
But we are only their shades
If you want the real ones
You must
forget about easy
